1 Final Wells Fargo Conference Cup Standings Announced Wells Fargo, along with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, today announced the final standings in the Wells Fargo Conference Cup competitions for the academic year, following the conclusion of the spring sports season. The Wells Fargo Cup award, sponsored by Wells Fargo and the NCHSAA, recognizes the schools that achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performance within each of the state s four competitive classifications. The Wells Fargo Conference Cup is a companion to the Wells Fargo Cup and recognizes schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within individual conferences. Wachovia and now Wells Fargo has sponsored the conference awards program since In most conferences, points are awarded based on participation and standings in conference play. Each conference determines its own method of awarding points. Conferences are listed alphabetically by classification. Class 1-A Conference Results Carolina 1-A: Princeton, with a strong spring sports season, took first place in softball, a first place tie in soccer and a runner-up finish in baseball, earning it the title. Rosewood finished in the second spot, while Lakewood rounds out the top three. Conference Standings: Princeton 76, Rosewood 69, Lakewood 62, Hobbton 53, Spring Creek 42, James Kenan 42, North Duplin 31, Neuse Charter 13. Coastal Plains 1-A: East Carteret ran away at the end of the year to take the Cup with a top finish this spring in baseball, while Lejeune finished in second with its best performance in men s track this spring. Pamlico finished the year behind Lejeune in the third spot. Conference Standings: East Carteret 552.5, Lejeune 505, Pamlico 480, Northside 410, Southside 347.5, Jones 320, Bear Grass Charter 285. Coastal 10 1-A: Camden County takes home the Conference Cup with a solid spring performance, thanks to first-place finishes in baseball and men s track along with a second-place finish in softball. Taking the second spot in standings is Perquimans with a first=place finish in softball and a runner-up spot in baseball. Gates County edges Manteo for third. Northwest 1-A: The Wells Fargo Conference Cup belongs to Mount Airy, which finished the spring season as runner-up in men s tennis and third-place finishes in baseball, men s golf, and women s soccer. Bishop McGuinness and East Surry tied for second, with Bishop McGuinness taking top finishes in men s golf, men s tennis and co champions in women s soccer with East Surry. Additionally, East Surry was the runner-

Conference Standings: Mount Airy 96, Bishop McGuinness 89, East Surry 89, Walkertown 77.5, North Stokes 57.5, Atkins 49.5, Winston-Salem Prep North Central Athletic 1-A: Franklin Academy jumps past Raleigh Charter this spring season to take the Conference Cup, thanks to a championship in golf and a runner-up finish in softball. Second-place Raleigh Charter took first in women s soccer and men s tennis, while third-place Voyager Academy finished first in baseball and second in men s tennis. Conference Standings: Franklin Academy 68, Raleigh Charter 64, Voyager Academy 59, Roxboro Community 54.5, East Wake Academy 30, Woods Charter 29, River Mill Academy 27.5, Research Triangle 26, Kestrel Heights 22. Smoky Mountain 1-A: With a league championship in women s track this spring, Swain County took the top spot for the Wells Fargo Conference Cup title. Murphy edged Hayesville for the second spot, with a first place finish in men s track and second place finishes in baseball, softball, women s track, and men s track. Hayesville, in the third spot, wound up the spring season with runner-up performances in baseball and men s track. Second place belonged to Granville Central, which finished the spring season with a league title in softball and a runner-up finish in baseball, while third-place Southeast Halifax had a championship in men s track. Conference Standings: Louisburg 50, Granville Central 41.5, Southeast Halifax 37, KIPP Pride 30, Weldon 21, Northwest Halifax Two Rivers 1-A: The Wells Fargo Conference Cup belongs to Riverside of Martin County, with top finishes this spring in baseball, softball, and men s track. Tarboro finished in the second spot with a top finish in men s track and runner-up finish in women s track. South Creek rounds out the top three, with second place finishes in baseball and softball. 3 Yadkin Valley 1-A: Gray Stone Day took the Wells Fargo Conference Cup with championships in women s track, women s soccer, and men s golf. West Montgomery finished the year in second place with a sweep of the track championships and a firstplace finish in softball. Third place is a three-way tie for among North Moore, East Montgomery, and North Stanly. North Moore took first place in baseball, East Montgomery first in soccer, and North Stanly finished in first place in softball. Conference Standings: Gray Stone Day 392.5, West Montgomery 382.5, North Moore 372.5, East Montgomery 372.5, North Stanly 372.5, Chatham Central 325, Union Academy 315, South Davidson 292.5, Albemarle 280, South Stanly 267.5, Queens Grant Class 1-A/2-A Conference Results Four County 1-A/2-A: Clinton took the Cup, beating out Midway thanks to first-place finishes in men s tennis, golf, and women s soccer. Second place Midway finished the spring season with a league title in baseball and a runner-up finish in women s soccer. Wallace-Rose Hill wound up in third place. 4 Class 2-A Conference Results Central Carolina 2-A: Salisbury took home the regular season league championships in men s golf and tennis this spring, giving it the Conference Cup. West Davidson finished the year second with top finishes in baseball and softball, as well as runner-up finishes in men s golf and tennis, while third place belonged to East Davidson. East Davidson finished first this spring in women s track and softball and also took second in baseball. Conference Standings: Salisbury 170.5, West Davidson 153.5, East Davidson 144.5, Lexington 125.5, North Rowan 120, Thomasville 97. East Central 2-A: Croatan took the Wells Fargo Conference Cup with top finishes in baseball and women s track this spring, while second place East Duplin had a top finish in men s golf. Dixon finished in third place to end the year with a top finish in women s soccer. Conference Standings: Croatan 160.5, East Duplin 149, Dixon 147, North Brunswick 133, Southwest Onslow 131.5, Northside Jacksonville 124. Eastern Carolina 2-A: North Lenoir had top finishes this spring in baseball and men s tennis, earning it the Wells Fargo Conference Cup. South Lenoir finished the year in second, with its best performances in softball and women's soccer, while third place is Greene Central. Conference Standings: North Lenoir 54, South Lenoir 46, Greene Central 44, Goldsboro 42.5, Kinston 42, Ayden-Grifton Eastern Plains 2-A: With a close finish to end the year, North Pitt edged Washington for the Wells Fargo Conference Cup, thanks to a league championship in men s track, and second-place finishes in women s soccer and women s track. Mid-State 2-A: Carrboro never looked back in the spring season, taking home first place in baseball, women s soccer, men s tennis, women s track, and men s track, giving the Jaguar program the Wells Fargo Conference Cup. Jordan-Matthews finished the year in a hard fought second place, thanks to a championship in softball and a runner-up finish in men s tennis, while Reidsville rounded out the top three with first place in golf and second place in baseball and women s soccer. Conference Standings: Carrboro 92.5, Jordan-Matthews 69.5, Reidsville 66, Cummings 50, Graham 45, Bartlett Yancey Northeastern Coastal 2-A: Currituck squeaked by Northeastern to grab the Wells Fargo Conference Cup, thanks to top finishes in men s tennis, golf, women s track, and a co-championship in softball. Northeastern took first place in men s track and the tie in

5 softball with Currituck. First Flight ended the year in the third spot after a first-place finish in women s soccer this spring. Conference Standings: Currituck 102, Northeastern 100, First Flight 92, Edenton Holmes 71, Hertford County 53, Pasquotank 50, Bertie 36. Northern Carolina 2-A: The Wells Fargo Conference Cup title belongs to South Granville this year thanks to a conference title in baseball and a runner-up performance in softball. North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics edged out Bunn for second, thanks to first-place finishes this spring in men s tennis and women s soccer. Bunn took the third spot, with championships in baseball and softball. Conference Standings: South Granville 77, North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics 72.5, Bunn 65, Roanoke Rapids 64, Franklinton 63.5, Durham School of the Arts 58, Southern Vance 33.5, Warren County PAC 6 2-A: Taking home first place in baseball, women s soccer, and men s tennis in the spring, Randleman wound up taking the Wells Fargo Conference Cup. Trinity squeaked by Wheatmore for second place, with runner-up finishes this spring in women s soccer, men s tennis and men s track. Wheatmore finished third, taking home the league title in softball and also had a runner-up finish in men s golf. Conference Standings: Randleman 78, Trinity 72.5, Wheatmore 70, Providence Grove 64.5, Eastern Randolph 51.5, High Point Andrews Rocky River 2-A: After a tight race all year, Parkwood edged out Central Academy and Mount Pleasant to take the Cup. Parkwood captured first place in golf and shared the league crown in baseball this spring. Central Academy took home first in women s soccer to wind up in second place. Mount Pleasant was right behind in third place, taking the league crown in women s track and sharing the title in baseball. Conference Standings: Parkwood 72.5, Central Academy 70.5, Mount Pleasant 69.5, West Stanly 61, Forest Hills 55.5, Monroe 41. Southern District 7 2-A: It was a close race all year long, with East Lincoln finally edging out Newton-Conover for the Wells Fargo Conference Cup. East Lincoln finished the spring season with league titles in baseball, women s track and women s soccer, while Newton-Conover took first in men s tennis and golf. Maiden wound up in third place, thanks to a second-place tie in men s tennis and third-place finishes in men s golf, men s track, and women s track. Conference Standings: East Lincoln 109, Newton- Conover 105.5, Maiden 79.5, Bandys 73.5, Lincolnton 73, West Caldwell 66, West Lincoln 61, Bunker Hill Western Piedmont 2-A: The Conference Cup belongs to Forbush which took home the league crown in softball and shared the title in women s soccer, while West Stokes finished second place overall with a top finish in men s tennis and a tie for first in women s soccer with Forbush. North Surry rounded out the top three, thanks to a championship in baseball. Conference Standings: Forbush 86.5, West Stokes 78.5, North Surry 72.5, Surry Central 65.5, South Stokes 64, Carver 21.

6 Class 2-A/3-A Conference Results Big South 2-A/3-A: Forestview rolled on in the spring season to take home the Wells Fargo Conference Cup, thanks to top finishes in men s golf, men s tennis, and men s track, while Ashbrook finished the year in second with top finishes in women s track. South Point and Lake Norman Charter tied for third, with South Point s top finishes in baseball and softball, while Lake Norman Charter s top finish was in women s soccer. Conference Standings: Forestview 218.5, Ashbrook 196.5, South Point 190.5, Lake Norman Charter 190.5, North Gaston 164.5, East Gaston 155.5, Stuart Cramer 141.5, Hunter Huss 116. South Mountain Athletic 2-A/3-A: Thanks to league titles this spring in golf and softball along with a runner-up finish in men s tennis, Kings Mountain jumped ahead of Shelby to take the Cup. Shelby finished the year in second, with top finishes in women s soccer and men s tennis this spring. Crest wound up in third place after finishing second in both baseball and golf. Conference Standings: Kings Mountain 122.5, Shelby 118.5, Crest 108.5, R-S Central 92.5, Draughn 87.5, East Burke 87.5, Chase 64, East Rutherford 61.5, Burns Western North Carolina Athletic 2-A/3-A: Pisgah held on at the end of the spring to capture the Wells Fargo Conference Cup, thanks to a league championship in softball and second- place finishes in baseball and golf. Following in second place was West Henderson, with a first-place finish in women s track and a runner-up performance in men s tennis. Rounding out the top three was Franklin, with second-place finishes in women s soccer and softball. Conference Standings: Pisgah 96, West Henderson 91.5, Franklin 89.5, North Henderson 70.5, East Henderson 69.5, Smoky Mountain 66.5, Brevard 61, Tuscola 61. Class 3-A Conference Results Big East 3-A: In a tight battle for the Cup, Fike edged Hunt to take top honors with a strong spring performance. Fike finished first in baseball, women s soccer, men s tennis and tied for first in softball. Hunt took the conference championship in golf, and tied for first in softball with Fike. Rocky Mount placed third to end the year, sweeping the track championships. Conference Standings: Fike 181, Hunt 176.5, Rocky Mount 171, Northern Nash 161.5, Southern Nash 148.5, Nash Central Big-Eight 3-A: Cardinal Gibbons procures the Wells Fargo Conference Cup with a solid spring season, taking league titles in softball, women s soccer, men s golf, lacrosse, and a share of the title in baseball. Chapel Hill swept the track championships while also taking runner-up finishes in men s golf and lacrosse, giving the Tigers second place

7 overall. Orange rounded out the top three, with a first place tie in baseball as well as a runner-up finish in women s soccer. Conference Standings: Cardinal Gibbons 124.5, Chapel Hill 110, Orange 83.5, Northwood 81.5, Cedar Ridge 77.5, Northern Vance 39, J.F. Webb 38.5, Southern Durham Coastal 3-A: West Carteret continued to roll during the spring, giving it the Wells Fargo Conference Cup. West Carteret finished with a league championship in men s track, along with runner-up finishes in women s track, men s tennis and baseball. Jacksonville finished in second place, winding up in the top spot in men s track to go with secondplace finishes in men s golf and women s soccer. Third place belongs to Swansboro, who took first in women s soccer and softball. Conference Standings: West Carteret 107, Jacksonville 93, Swansboro 90.5, Havelock 77.5, White Oak 63.5, Richlands 48.5, West Craven 48. Cape Fear Valley 3-A: It was a fight for the top spot, with Union Pines edging Terry Sanford. Union Pines took first in men s tennis, women s soccer, and swept the track championships, while Terry Sanford took first place in baseball, and placed second in men s tennis, and women s soccer. Lee County wound up in third place. Conference Standings: Union Pines 111.5, Terry Sanford 110.5, Lee County 97.5, Grays Creek 73.5, Southern Lee 73, Westover 52.5, Douglas Byrd 32. Mid Piedmont 3-A: With a close finish at the end, Ledford squeaks out the Wells Fargo Conference Cup, edging Asheboro with runner-up finishes in men s tennis, golf, and softball. Asheboro tied for first in baseball and women s soccer, giving the Comets second overall. Central Davidson finished in third, thanks to a first-place tie in women s soccer and runner-up finishes in men s and women s track. Conference Standings: Ledford 92.5, Asheboro 91.5, Central Davidson 83, Southwestern Randolph 74, Southern Guilford 55, Western Guilford 54.5, North Forsyth Mid State 3-A: Northern Guilford dominated the spring season, providing the Nighthawks with the Wells Fargo Conference Cup title. Northern Guilford took first in women s soccer, men s tennis, and men s track, while finishing in a tie for the top spot in softball and men s lacrosse this spring season. Second place wound up in a deadlock Eastern Alamance and Walter Williams, with Eastern Alamance taking first in softball while Walter Williams grabbing a first-place tie in men s lacrosse this spring. Conference Standings: Northern Guilford 268, Eastern Alamance 216.5, Walter Williams 216.5, Western Alamance 208, Rockingham County 199.5, McMichael 174, Eastern Guilford 159.5, Morehead 154.5, Northeast Guilford South Piedmont 3-A: The Wells Fargo Conference Cup race ended in a dead heat between Cox Mill and Hickory Ridge. Hickory Ridge jumped into the first-place to end of the year by earning top finishes in women s soccer, women s track, men s tennis, and golf, while Cox Mill had top finishes in women s soccer, men s tennis and baseball. Jesse Carson takes third place with top finishes in women s soccer and baseball.

8 Conference Standings: Cox Mill 680, Hickory Ridge 680, Jesse Carson 675, East Rowan 610, Concord 580, West Rowan 555, Northwest Cabarrus 552.5, South Rowan 405, Central Cabarrus Southern Carolina 3-A: Marvin Ridge grabbed the lead back from Weddington to capture the Wells Fargo Conference Cup. Marvin Ridge had top finishes this spring in men s tennis, baseball, and men s and women's track, while Weddington had its top finish in women s soccer. Cuthbertson finished the year in the third spot. Conference Standings: Marvin Ridge 95.5, Weddington 92.5, Cuthbertson 74.5, Piedmont 60.5, Sun Valley 48.5, Anson Two Rivers 3-A: Corinth Holders had a spectacular spring season, taking first place in baseball, women s soccer, men s tennis, and men s golf, and that earned Corinth Holders earns the Wells Fargo Conference Cup title. Second place overall belongs to Cleveland, thanks to a sweep in the track championships this spring, while Triton rounds out the top three in the conference to end the year. North Piedmont 3-A/4-A: Lake Norman dominated down the stretch to earn the Wells Fargo Conference Cup, thanks to league titles this spring in men s tennis and women s soccer and second place in baseball and both men s and women s track. Mooresville took second overall, with conference crowns in both baseball and men s track. Sitting in third place is Alexander Central, with the championship in softball. Northwestern Athletic 3-A/4-A: A tie at the top means that the Wells Fargo Conference Cup is shared this spring between Watauga and Hickory. Third place belongs to South Caldwell, which earned regular season titles in baseball and softball this spring. Southeast Guilford edged Grimsley for second with league titles in baseball and softball this spring, while Grimsley grabbed the top spot in women s soccer and tied for first in men s tennis. Leesville Road finished third, taking the league title in men s lacrosse.
