9 Fairfax County Bicycle Master Plan Initiated in 2010 Work began on the greater Tysons area first, then the rest of the County Present to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors Spring 2013 will provide guidance for the planning and implementation of bicycle facilities as well as policies and programs influencing cycling in the County 9

11 Fairfax County Bicycle Master Plan Goals and Assumptions Meeting the needs of bicyclists today, while encouraging more people to choose to ride in the future. Increase bicycle use for transportation, especially for noncommute trips (75 percent of all trips) Modal Split Goal: 3.0 percent by 2020 Serving all riders (8-80+, by providing trails and sidewalks upon which many cyclists are most comfortable On-road facilities and accommodations to serve all cyclists and all destinations. Safety is essential for all bicyclists. 11
