5 Comments Received One regional vendor is important for connectivity Metro, as regional agency should set the tone A single system with local flexibility Bike Share must connect to a larger transit network Phasing, especially pilot area is key to success

16 OTS GRANT: Bicycle Traffic Safety Classes Need: 4,226 bicycle collisions reported in Los Angeles County (2010) Goal: Reduce the number and severity of injuries from bicycle related crashes by training bicyclists with basic traffic skills and education Effort: Hosted 88 classes with 863 participants from May-September 2013

17 BICYCLE COMMUTING CONTRACT: Community Rides Need: 40% of all car trips are two miles or less and can easily by made by bicycle Goal: Encourage riders of all ages and skill levels to consider biking for local trips Purpose: Encourage bicycle ridership by sponsoring 20 community-based bicycle rides throughout Los Angeles County over 26-month period

18 BICYCLE CAMPAIGNS: Every Lane is a Bike Lane Goal: Educate both bicyclists and motorists on rules of the road, decrease incidents, and foster safe streets Message: Bicyclists are allowed to use the FULL lane to safely navigate certain traffic situations Medium: Bus backs, billboards, radio spots, bumper stickers, spoke cards Purpose: Increase awareness of cyclists rights to the road and law (CVC 21200)

19 BICYCLE CAMPAIGNS: Bikes on Bus Goal: Raise awareness of correctly riding Metro buses with a bicycle Medium: Transit TV, car cards & spoke cards Purpose: To reduce the number of bicycles forgotten or stolen from the front of the bus
