Installation Instructions Native Grass ate eduction Kit Great Plains 3-Point No-Till rills General Information sed with: 605NT and 3P605NT drills 606NT and 3P606NT drills 3P806NT and 3P006NT drills Note: The drill must have Native Grass capability, Series I or Series II. These instructions explain Native Grass ate eduction Kit installation. This feature supports lower Native Grass rates than are possible with the standard drill. Each kit converts an entire drill. These instructions apply to: Kit Product escription 0-580A Native Grass ate eduction Kit Tools equired asic hand tools, including snap ring pliers Chain oil efore You Start efer to igure emove all contents of the kit case (the case is used to receive parts removed from the drill).. Inventory the new parts per Parts ist on page 7. efer to the drill Operator Manual for these steps:. Hitch the drill to a suitable tractor. 3. Move the drill to a dry well-lighted location suitable for disassembly. 4. ower the drill. 5. isconnect hydraulic and electrical power to the drill. Note: Whenever mounting a chain, make sure the clip at the removable link is oriented to minimize snags. Install clip with open end facing away from direction of chain travel (often shown by arrows in the chain routing diagrams of the Operator Manual). igure Kit Storage Case Notations and Conventions 8377 eft and ight are facing in the direction of machine travel. (605NT or 3P605NT) or (606NT or 3P606NT) Sprockets On 6-foot models, the Native Grass drive shares the single rive Type gearbox, and uses the left rear output shaft. The right rear shaft is Main Seed box. emove 6 ft. Gearbox Output Sprocket efer to igure 3 9. oosen the bolt and relax idler. 0. emove the existing 45-pitch chain from both the existing left rear gearbox output sprocket: C SPKT 409 X 36T SPINE OE and from the Native Grass jackshaft input sprocket: The chain may be left on the idler.. emove and save the snap ring from sprocket : C SNAP ING EXT /PEEESS G.. This snap ring is reused during the installation.. emove and save sprocket. Store it in the kit Install New 6 ft. Output Sprocket 3. Select one new: C SPKT 40 X 36T SPINE OE Place this sprocket on the gearbox output shaft where sprocket was just removed at step. 4. Select one saved: C SNAP ING EXT /PEEESS G.. Secure sprocket 53 on the shaft with the snap ring 4. emove 6 ft. NG Jackshaft Input Sprocket The Native Grass jackshaft input 0 and output 3 ends have otherwise identical 7T keyway sprockets. The input sprocket 0 is to the right, closer to the gearbox. o not remove the output sprocket 3. Note: or sufficient clearance, you may need to loosen other sprocket or bearing collar set screws, and temporarily slide the jackshaft to the left. efer to igure 4 5. oosen one or two set screws in the 7T jackshaft input sprocket: 6. emove and save the key: /6 X KEY The key is re-used during this installation. 7. emove sprocket 0. Store the sprocket in the kit Install New 6 ft. NG Jackshaft Input Sprocket 8. Select one new: C SPKT 40 3/4 W/K.W. &SS 53 4 igure 3 6-oot Gearbox Output Sprocket 3 igure 4 6-oot NG Jackshaft Input Sprocket Place the sprocket on the jackshaft where sprocket 0 was just removed at step Select one saved: /6 X KEY Insert it in the sprocket and shaft keyways. If the shaft was moved, slide it back to the right. 0. Secure all set screws.. e-mount 45-pitch chain around new sprockets 5, 53 and idler.. Adjust chain slack to 4 inch (6mm). 3. On 0-foot models, the Native Grass drive has a dedicated gearbox, at drill right. The NG drive system uses the right rear output shaft. emove 0 ft. Gearbox Output Sprocket efer to igure 7 9. oosen the bolt and relax idler. 0. emove the existing 4-pitch chain from both the existing right rear gearbox output sprocket: C SPKT 409 X 36T SPINE OE and from the Native Grass jackshaft input sprocket: The chain may be left on the idler.. emove and save the snap ring from sprocket : C SNAP ING EXT /PEEESS G.. Store the case for future use. igure 9 Install Gearbox Cover 56 sing educed Seed ate The components installed reduce the population rate, for Native Grass only, by 4%, which is an adjustment factor of The Seed ate eduction kit does not affect the population rates of: main seed box small seeds box Not all Seed ate manuals include both standard and educed ate charts. se your existing Seed ate charts for native grass, and apply the correction factor. or Series I Native Grass Seeding The chart rates, in pounds-per-acre, need to be adjusted by multiplying by educedpoundsperacre = ChartPoundsPerAcre 0.58 or Series II Native Grass Seeding The chart rates, in cup-revolutions-per-acre, need to be adjusted by multiplying by educedcupevsperacre = ChartCupevsPerAcre 0.58 Maintenance e-check chain slack after first few hours or operation, due to seating. The installation of this kit requires no other changes to the regular maintenance of the drill as specified in the Operator s Manual M 09/5/04
