2 Frank Franiak I am a digital artist who uses soft, flowing images with luminous colors to express concepts and emotions. I express my view of the world e live in through colors and shapes. I prefer soft images with luminous colors that blend seamlessly and apply various techniques to increase the luminosity of my colors. With some of my work a color itself may be the subject but usually color is more important than the forms through which it is expressed. Most of my pieces start with a basic idea which could be based on something from nature, an object, song lyrics or just a shape or set of colors. As I work with colors and shapes the process of flow takes over and intuition often takes the piece in an entirely different direction from where I initially planned it to go. Frequently, after completing a work I have new insights and will create an alternate version which can then take on a life of its own. This can lead to a series of paintings based upon a common theme or starting point. Like most artists, my style is in a continuous state of evolution. I employ a variety of software tools to create the art on display in this exhibit and am always searching for new tools to create unique effects. Although I started as a traditional artist working with oil and acrylic paint, I was eventually drawn to digital art because of the freedom and versatility it provides. In particular it allows me to experiment more freely than I can with a brush on canvas. I can start with a set of colors or images and move down multiple different paths to reach a desired result. I can change or add the colors, the shapes, level of transparency and degree of blending. I have full control over the process of creation and am not limited by the physical constraints of canvas and paint.
