3 Home Sweet Homecoming Homecoming 2017 Monday: Home Run! Wear your favorite sports attire! Tuesday: Make yourself at home! Wear your pajamas! Wednesday: Homies! Twin with your homies! Thursday: Home away from home! Wear your tourist clothes! Friday: Home sweet home! Homecoming Shirts and Spirit Items can be purchased before school each day and until Tuesday September 19th in front of the HS Gym. Shirts will be delivered to the school and brought to you. Homecoming Dance will take place after the game till 11:00p in the High School Cafeteria. Admission is $3. If you leave, you cannot return. Out of school dates need to be signed up in the High School Office by Wednesday September 20th at 3:30pm. Please have someone here at 11:00p to pick you up. The Powder Puff games will be held October 25th at 7:00p at the High School Football field. Sign-up and T-shirt orders will be October 2-6 before school each day in Mrs. Bruno s room (154). Entrance fee into the game will be two non-perishable food items or $2 at the gate.

4 Macon Tigerettes Fight Against Breast Cancer Monday, September 5:00 PM Tigerette Softball Field Macon vs. Westran This year our softball team is having a Fight Against Breast Cancer game. For this game, the girls will be wearing pink t-shirts that have their jersey numbers on the back. We are making the t-shirt available to anyone and raising money for a family directly affected by this cancer. The proceeds and money raised from t-shirt sales will go directly to Josh and Cara Haddad. Cara is the sister/ sister-in-law of Tracee and Pete Claas. Cara is currently undergoing treatments for breast cancer for the 2nd time. During her time of fighting against breast cancer, her theme and motto has been to "Fight Dirty", which is what we've put on our t-shirts for this year. Our hope is that the money raised from this will help out with any day-to-day costs or possibly allow Josh and Cara to do extra fun things with their three kids. If you would like to purchase a shirt to support this cause, it would be greatly appreciated. Please just fill out a form and return to any of the school offices or Amber Duncan. T-shirt forms are due on Monday, September 11th. I do apologize for the quick turn around, but in order to have the shirts by our game, that is when we need to have forms.

5 Hats are not to be worn during school hours including assemblies. Make sure they are off upon entering the school. Always sign in at the HS Office if you arrive late or return from a doctor s appointment. If you are a new student to the district, please stop by the office for a free Macon Tiger t-shirt. We are glad you are here! If you are picking up a student, please come into the HS Office, so your new secretary can verify who you are. Students are not allowed to leave to eat lunch or leave the building during lunch (p. 18 Student Handbook)! Full facial paint is not permitted during the school day or school activities. This includes all school sponsored activities off school grounds. Painted letters/numbers on the face or eye -black under the eyes is allowable. ASVAB Vocational Aptitude Battery Wednesday, September 20th: High school cafeteria Sophomores Plus some Jrs./Srs.--specific names provided next week Schedule: Go to first hour class for attendance and listen for all call (approx. 8:30) Return to classes 10:50-1:30 Return at approx. 1:30 with all call Return to class approx. 2:45-3:00 Sophomores with last names starting with A-M enter/register at the south door of cafeteria Soph. with last names beginning with N-Z plus all other students enter at the north door. 6 MHS Bulletin: Sep Just a reminder to students please check your account regularly. This is how Mrs. Gingrich sends out information about scholarship opportunities, upcoming college visits etc. Be sure to sign up for Textcaster alerts for all the latest happenings at Macon High School! Simply go to choose Useful Links drop down menu click on Textcaster and follow the prompts to be set up. Never miss another ballgame or concert again! Parking Permits will be given to any student who drives a motorized vehicle. You MUST have a parking permit. No exceptions! Juniors and Seniors If you would like to go on a college visit please pick up the College Visit Form in the High School Office. All Juniors or Seniors must complete the form prior to the proposed college visit. Juniors and Seniors are allowed one visit per semester or a total of two visits during their Junior and Senior years combined. The bottom portion of the form must be signed by a college official verifying the visit for it to be counted as an verified absence. If the form is not completed and turned in it will be counted as an absence for that day. FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the form that you must fill out if you want any financial aid for college. Seniors applying for financial aid for the school year, may start applying October 1, 2017, using their 2016 tax return information. Before you can access the application, you will need a FSA ID. Please go to fafsa.ed.gov and click on FSA ID to get started. This is an ID and password that you will need to remember as long as you are a college student, because you and your parents will have to fill out a FAFSA every year. Therefore, put your ID/Password in a safe place - your tax packet is the perfect place! Once you have your ID and password, you are able to get started filling out the FAFSA Important Dates April 6: Deadline for local scholarships Important Info Be scheduling those college visits! Get on campus and see what they have to offer. Before you leave though, pick up a college visit day form from Mrs. Boling in the high school office so that it does not count against you. Once you apply to the college(s) of your choice, stop by the counseling office and request your transcripts to be sent. Once you receive your letter of acceptance, let us know and we will get your name on the senior board! Any senior student who has a medical, physical, educational, or mental disability may be eligible for services and/or financial assistance for post-secondary training or employment through Vocational Rehabilitation. This can include college tuition. For information on applying to this agency, please contact Ms. Lisa Skeleton in the Career Center, room 170C (next to the elevator).
