2 Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a chronic and fatal genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and young adults in the United States. CF substantially impairs respiratory and digestive functions, making the simple acts of eating and breathing a struggle. There is no cure. As children suffering from cystic fibrosis grow older, they become more vulnerable to life-threatening lung infections. The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment, and ensuring access to highquality, specialized care. Through unique fundraising events like Aim for a Cure, we can help give those with CF the quality of life and future they deserve. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation invites you to join former Florida State University Defensive Coordinator Mickey Andrews to be a part of the 3rd Annual Mickey Andrews Aim for a Cure Banquet on October 21, 2016 and/or the 8th Annual Aim for a Cure Sporting Clay fun shoot Tournament on October 22, You may choose to be a part of both events or a part of just one. Several sponsorship options are available. The Friday night Wells Fargo Aim for a Cure Banquet will be held October 21st at the Tallahassee Automobile Museum, 6800 Mahan Drive, and is open to shooters and non-shooters alike. Everyone will enjoy a delicious dinner, live entertainment, dancing, special guest speakers, and a silent auction. If you enjoy the outdoors and the Sport of Kings, a four person team is what you will need the next day, Saturday, October 22, to compete in the 8th Annual Aim for a Cure Sporting Clay fun shoot Tournament on the professionally designed course at Southwind Clays and Quail in Quitman, GA. If you re a first time clay shooter or a master class shooter - all are welcome! Youth and Ladies are encouraged to participate. The Lewis class scoring system will be used so anyone can be a winner. An outstanding lunch and awards ceremony will follow. Sponsorships, dinner tickets, and event packages are available. Net dollars raised from weekend events will benefit the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has unrestricted financial reserves of about 13 times its budgeted annual expenses, following a one-time royalty sale in These funds, along with the public s continuing support, are needed to help accelerate our efforts to pursue a lifelong cure for this fatal disease, develop lifesaving new therapies and help all people with CF live full, productive lives. Important Note on Attendance at Foundation Events: To reduce the risk of getting and spreading germs at CF Foundation-sponsored events, we ask that everyone follow basic best practices by regularly cleaning your hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow and maintaining a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection. Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function. To further help reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation s attendance policy recommends inviting only one person with CF to attend the indoor portion of a Foundationsponsored event at a specific time. For the outdoor portion, the Foundation recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times.
