2 Purpose To deliver the world s premier international academy military skills competition to inspire Cadets to achieve military excellence in their chosen profession through a rigorous, physical, mental, and leadership challenge that is reflective of combat operations in terms of tempo and tasks. Mission The United States Military Academy will plan and execute the International Sandhurst Competition at West Point 9-14 April In order to showcase the academy, strengthen international relationships and promote military excellence amongst cadets.

5 Phase 2a (8-9 APR 2018) Arrival & MWI Conference Arrival - 8 APR 2018 External teams will arrive at their discretion. Upon arrival at West Point they will link up with their hosting USCC Company and move to their accommodation. Team managers will inform CPT Anderson on their arrival and successful link up with their hosting USCC Company. MWI Conference 9 APR 2018 The Modern War Institute will host a conference for all external teams. The theme of the conference is Winning Tomorrow s Wars. The conference will take place in Thayer Hall. 7 Phase 2b (10-12 APR 2018) External Team Training APR 2018 External teams will rotate a series of training events. The intent is to familiarize the external teams with the technical aspects of the competition in order to prepare them successfully for the competition. Training Events Engagement Skills Trainer M4 Range M9 Range TCCC Zodiac The training will be delivered by USMA, team managers are encouraged to attend in order to help coach and mentor their teams. Sustainment Teams will be responsible for their movement to the training locations. Feeding for the teams will be provided by USCC, team management will not be fed. Weapons will be drawn from the USCC Armory by the teams, these weapons will then be moved to the Range by USMA personnel. 7

10 Phase 2c (12 APR 2018) Competitors Brief APR WH5300 All Squad Leaders will attend the competitors brief. Team management are not to attend, the only additional personnel that may attend are interpreters. Agenda Safety Brief Sandhurst Competition 2018 SoM Equipment Issue Route Issue 10

11 Phase 3a (13 APR 2018) Day One APR 2018 Teams will start according to their timings issued during the external training week. They will then move along their route completing each event. Spectators All spectators must report to the Sandhurst Visitors Centre located in Eisenhower Hall. They will then receive a brief on safety and which events spectators can observe. The squads will be tracked as they move around the route, the Visitors Center will be able to direct spectators to their squads next likely location. Team Management & Distinguished Visitors Team managers and Distinguished Visitors are welcome to observe their teams throughout the competition, they are NOT allowed to interact with their team. 11

14 Phase 3b (13 APR 2018) Distinguished Visitors Breakfast TBD 13 APR 2018 Lieutenant General Caslen will host a breakfast for all the Distinguished Visitors at the 2018 Sandhurst Competition. Normally a Distinguished Visitor is classed as Colonel (O6) and above. The breakfast is held in Washington Hall, Distinguished Visitors are then welcome to observe the competition once the breakfast has been completed. 14

16 Phase 3c (13-14 APR 2018) Night Events APR 2018 Teams will arrive at bivouac where they will be able to eat and prepare for the night events. Teams will start according to their timings issued during the external training week. They will then move along their route completing each event. Spectators Spectators are not allowed at the bivouac site or at the night events. Team Management & Distinguished Visitors Team Managers and Distinguished Visitors are welcome to meet their teams at the bivouac prior to them leaving to start the night events. 16

19 Phase 3e (14 APR 2018) Closing Ceremony APR 2018 Once the competition has finished teams will attend the closing ceremony where the results will be announced. Key Timings 1755 Competitors on parade. Location TBD 1815 Dinner - Cadet Mess Hall 1915 Awards 1945 Complete Spectators Spectators may be able to attend the closing ceremony. More information will be published closer to the event. Team Management & Distinguished Visitors Team Management and Distinguished Visitors are encouraged to attend the closing ceremony. 21 Phase 4 (14-15 APR 2018) Recovery APR 2018 All external teams must return any equipment they have requested from USMA. These must be handed back clean and serviceable. Teams will not be able to depart unless this is achieved or they have come to an agreement with their hosting company. Teams are welcome to leave at a time at their choosing, they are encouraged to leave on 15 APR 2018 in order to take part in the informal social event that takes place after the competition. 21
