1 British Gymnastics National Competitions - Judging BG Trampoline Judging Co-ordinator: Mike Phillipson E mail:trampolinejudging@hotmail.com Officials Letter Thank you for volunteering or being volunteered to officiate at the Gala weekend on Saturday and Sunday 6 th & 7 th Feb at the Gloucester You will see from the officials list we are badly short of computer recorders so if your club has any who will be at the competition and can help out please contact me on the address above. ALL officials MUST check in to Donna Grist on Saturday and Mike Phillipson on Sunday when you arrive at the hall. Below is some important information regarding the official role you will be performing on the day of the competition so please read it carefully: Judges Uniform: Men Navy Trousers, White shirt, Navy or BG Tie, Black shoes, Navy blazer or jacket Ladies Navy Trousers or Skirt, White collared blouse, Black shoes without heels, Navy blazer or jacket Recorders uniform Marshal similar to above Suitable sports clothing (ie tracksuit and trainers) Please ensure that you are fully aware of how to do the job you have been asked to do. It is the club s responsibility to ensure that you know how to do this job not the competition organiser or judging coordinator. On the spot training at the competition is unacceptable. If you cannot carry out your duties in a suitably efficient manner you may be removed from that position and your club could be fined. Marshals Need to be at the competition and report in just after the warm ups have begun (or earlier if suitable) Your role is very important as you keep the competition moving (or not!!) Your job is to make sure the competitors are ready for warm up and competition and that they have spotters (2 for warm Up and competition only is needed as the trampolines are sited together) Your role is also to keep the competition area clear. [The coaches are the worst at getting in the way!!] You need a pencil or pen with you and a clip board will help. Recorders You need to report in to the judging co-ordinator by about 15 minutes after the competition warm ups have begun. You need pen or pencil and once the computer data is altered to give the correct jumping list the manual sheets can be adjusted and the competition can begin. Please make sure as the computer recorder that you input the judges for that panel onto the score sheet. Judges Need to report in at the beginning of warm ups and listen for announcements for trial judging. You do not have to wait for the chair of the panel to begin trial judging, you can sit on the panel and practice as soon as you wish. Please wear the correct uniform as detailed above and judge efficiently and fairly taking note of comments for the chair of judges who is there to help you. Don t forget your pen or pencil. Chair of Judges Please get your panel assembled in time to get plenty of trial judging done. If officials are not in place at the requested time please liaise with Donna or myself and we will have reserves ready to judge. Please run your competition to the timetable and ensure your competitors have the correct length of time for warm up. Once you get started please move the competition on at a reasonable pace. Please be responsible for keeping your competition area free of extra people who should not be there (especially around the recording area.) Donna and myself have judge feedback/record sheets please fill them in and return them to us. 2 Message to clubs ref Officials for the Gala event at Gloucester Firstly my apologies for the panels being later than I would have liked being sent out. The first Gala has not been easy!! Also I have only had ONE volunteer computer operator. You will notice lots of blank spaces where I should have computer operators. Please, if you have Computer operators at the competition please let me know via an on trampolinejudging@hotmail.com as soon as possible. I hope the next Gala is a lot easier. Please would clubs check very carefully on the officials panels to make sure their club representatives are all aware of their commitments for the weekend. Mike Phillipson
