Well known in Southeast Michigan for broadcasting news, sports, and music, in particular jazz. The collection includes a small amount of administrative papers; publicity and outreach materials including clippings, posters, and program guides; photographs, and memorabilia which is primarily related to pledge drives and special events. 4 Historical note WEMU, a public radio station was founded in 1965, as a small student run public broadcasting program. Since 1977, it has been affiliated with National Public Radio. The radio station primarily covers news, sports and music. It is a known in particular for its broadcasting of jazz music. WEMU operates out of King Hall on the campus of Eastern Michigan University.
