1 September 2014 THE CHAIRMAN s Chatter Well what can you say after such a successful Pedal Car Rally except THANK YOU to everyone that attended and made themselves available to help with all the various jobs and tasks throughout the weekend. And then of course CONGRATULATIONS to the winning team manager and willing pedlars and participants in all the races you were great and the spirit in which you competed against the other teams was exemplary. Comment was received that Sunshine Coast runs this rally like a well- oiled machine. The full results are included else -where in this newsletter. If anybody has any suggestions or comment about items they feel can be improved on please discuss this with any of your committee members. We also have to extend our thanks and appreciation to all the other regions and their members for their attendance, participation and support, With a total of 132 caravans for the weekend and still plenty space to park was testament to good and considerate parking by all the regions Let s see if we can push in some more next year. At the Provincial AGM which was chaired by Russell Gibbens and attended by the President Jan Heyneke the following main items were raised: The Homestead news will in future be published twice a year and will consist of a printed and electronic copy. Regions have been given space in both the versions to promote / advertise their regions and will be responsible for getting an advertiser on board to cover costs. Ari from Nomads will co-ordinate a Provincial Tow-driver-of-the-year competition so that we can send some representation to the National competition hosted by CCSA next year in May. Natal Province's suggested management structure will be promoted in the other Provinces and in the interim Foxy (congratulations Foxy) has been appointed as Chairman of Natal Province Executive which consists of the Regional Chairmen, Provincial Secretary and Provincial Treasurer. We are sure Foxy will with his years of experience be able to steer Natal Province as a cohesive unit to greater heights for the benefit of all CCSA members in Natal Province. The new membership cards are in progress and will be distributed as soon as we receive them. Congrats to Rene Stroebel (chairlady of North Coast Region) who has been elected as Secretary and has taken over from Ellinor Jackson. Our thanks to Ellinor for all her effort and time spend as secretary of Natal Province. Congrats to Juliet Spieker who has been re-elected as Treasurer. We will be organising a tour to Rally SA next year details to follow soon. Of course that does not happen by accident and congratulations should go to everyone from Sunshine Coast who helped in any way at this rally especially to the Pienaars as Senior Marshals and Davis s for the food tent. Its always a bit stressful but with many hands helping it all worked out ok. The weather was iffy at best (at least from where I was sleeping) but we did not have put on the wet tyres on our cars for our race. Our riders did us proud well done to both teams! It was good of the Springboks and Sharks to pull their weight and finish off the weekend sports positively. Pedal car is always a mad weekend but we have 2 relaxing rallies to calm you all down leading up to Christmas Beehive is next with Midlands Region. Intentions are out now. At the end of October we are off to Ilanga and I hope to see you there. The Rally Calendar for 2015 is in this newsletter and I am looking for volunteers to be marshals. Please send me a mail if you are willing to help and if you would like to apply one of our themes to your weekend (Potjie, fish, Junior, etc) Cheers Dave
9 From the scribe, Please support Dave and let s have volunteers for marshalling next year, you can contact Dave and or any committee member, I am sure we are going to be inundated with volunteers. Naude has already put his and Bets name down for pedal car next year (that s what you call commitment). Because files are large this month I have attached the New Year s calendar for your perusal, and will paste it to the newsletter next month. If you missed this year s pedal car we hope to see you next year. Below the winners.
