3 LVKF AGM th April Jolly Farmer Apologies: Hayley, Lynne, Colin, Sharon, Jason, Chris Parfitt, David, Alison, Ken, Rosemary, Joyce, Paul, Jan. Minutes of AGM 2012: Agreed Chairman s report: Mark reported that the club was ticking along, not much to encourage clubs, LVKF were a small dedicated club with not much scope for growth. What could we do regarding this? Have youth focused activities. Did anyone have any ideas about how to spread the word? Nick said we are doing this with the kite festival. Secretary s Report: As Marilyn was away, we couldn t give a report. thought we had approx 32 members. (see end of minutes for an update on membership). Membership was voted on to stay the same as last year, I.e. Single 12, Joint 17 and Family 22. Treasurers Report: David was away, said we had had a large donation from the Kennet kite club last year. Festival had made a small profit. Takings were down on car parking due to the weather and Queens jubilee. mentioned about the constitution as there were a couple of points that needed changing, and also needed to add about having individual insurance as club cover is only for Festival and club fly-ins. Mark said about having an EGM on the Saturday night at the festival to agree changes. Peter asked if we could join as club, it was pointed out that no we couldn t. Events Report: reported that he had done one kite workshop at Limington house school for the disabled about two weeks after the festival last year. First week was to make the kites followed by going back to fly them, as it was wet we flew the kites one at a time in their hall, each child having a helper. One lad always covered his face with his arm until he flew his kite where he brought his arm down; even the assistants were amazed by this! said that there was another children s workshop on the 25 th May at a disability day at Tadley if anyone was interested in attending. Festival Report: said that festival 2012 was a successful, fulfilling the programme even with the rain on the Sunday. Mark mentioned about running a survey of the public at the festival to find out what attracts them to the festival, the results could prove useful in obtaining a future sponsor. Could also invite potential sponsors to this years festival for them to find out about it. Festival 2013, said that all was going to plan, he ran through the guests list for this 3

4 year, some old ones plus some new. Nick and Meg volunteered to escort the Mayor on the Sunday Marquee, Roy and Marilyn had put their names forward as did Liz and Joyce. Raffle, as with last year please could club members look to see if they could donate any items for the raffle. Election of Officers: Chairman Secretary Treasurer Event Officer Mark Marilyn David Festival Co-ordinator AOB: Peter mentioned about updating the list of Club kites. Mark said he had the Semaphore train of kites said he had various kites and would send Peter pictures of them. End of meeting. Update on Membership: 2012/13 32 members (14 down on last year) 279 taken (last year 310) I will be at the Jolly Up to collect membership money. Marilyn 4

5 2013 Hi folks Don t forget to come along on the Wednesday 29th May to the Jolly Farmer If you want to help out at the festival (helpers get a ticket for the Saturday evening bash) if you can t make it and still want to help out just me at alan@basingstokekitefestival.org.uk We are getting a bit thin on the ground for raffle prizes, so this year we are asking club members to have a look in their cupboards for stuff (kite related we hope) to donate, as always the profits go towards the Mayors Charity, so if you would have a look we would be most grateful.
