1 Mariposa Mountain Riders Take to the Beach Submitted by Norma Jean Worcester From Oct 3 to Oct 8, MMR members, Norma Jean Worcester, Peggy DeBuyser and Jodee Wilson went to Montana de Oro campground to attend the Coast Mounted Assistance Annual Fundraiser Poker Ride. There were many riders from various nearby locations. While some riders partook in the Obstacle Course on Saturday, Oct 6, our MMR riders; Norma Jean, Peggy and Jodee took off to ride the dunes to the beach to see how NJ's horse Wrangler would react to seeing the ocean for the very first time in his life. While NJ expected a one-person rodeo in the sand...it turned out to be an awesome ride. Wrangler loved the water and kept wanting to wait for the water to surround him so he could paw the wet sand. Meanwhile, Peggy was enjoying her ride on her steed, Legend who is no stranger to the beach. Although it took a while to get use to all the strange seaweed and kelp lying around, he did settle down to a nice walk to get to Morro Bay Rock. As usual, Jodee and her Katie taking in the coolness of the sea breeze just walked along the beach in the water as it rolled in and back out. The 5 days of riding, camping, campfire stories, laughter, meeting new friends...not to mention the fantastic BBQ luncheon put on by the hosts of this event. We gals did quite well in the raffle drawings. It was a wonderful experience for everyone. Until another time...hang on to the reins and enjoy the ride. MMR member, Norma Jean Worcester.
