There will be great fun, dancing and socializing with friends for 10 days. Hopefully a member will win the $7500, good luck to all that bought Fun Monday tickets!! Dwayne Baggett will have a booth set up on Fun Monday at SOS. He will be selling Shag Life shirts. If you are willing to volunteer to help him please contact Dwayne and be there at 8:00am. Dwayne has generously agreed to donate the profits to. Thank you Norman Russ for doing a great job conducting the August meeting and August party in my absence. A special thanks to Rosemary Haney and Joyce Ramos for hosting the August Pizza Party. Everything looked wonderful in the pictures posted on Facebook. The blue tablecloths were so pretty! It looks like everyone had a great time dancing to the tunes of Robbie Farrell. Soon we will need to appoint a Nominating Committee to select Board Members for If you are interested in being on this committee please contact me. Please remember to watch out for children and school buses on the roads. Don t forget to give yourself extra time to get to your destination since school has started back for a new year. 4 Meeting Minutes: AUGUST BUSINESS MEETING August 14, 2018 Vice-President, Norm Russ, called the August meeting of the Fayetteville Shag to order. President Pat Trujillo was out of town and unable to attend. The minutes of the July meeting were accepted as written in the newsletter. Committee Reports: Membership: Per Dwight Vinson, Membership Chairperson, we have 117 members. There were 22 members present at the August meeting. Treasurer s Report: Johnny Boyles gave the Treasurer s report. At the July party, there was $ taken in at the door, and $20.00 taken in for membership. The winner of the 50/50 raffle, Rusty Duncan, donated his winnings back to the club. One of the month s expenses included the telephone bill for the old phone tree system. This should be the last telephone bill. DJ s: No report. Publicity: No report. Entertainment: Joyce announced that the menu for the August party will be pizza and salad. She asked members to bring desserts. Our DJ for the evening will be Robbie Farrell. Newsletter: No report. Ways and Means: Dwayne Baggett announced that he will have a tent/booth at the SOS-Fun Monday. All profits will go to. He will need volunteers to work at the booth. Volunteers need to arrive early (8:00 am) to set up the booth. Fun Monday events begin at 12:00 on September 17 th. If you are volunteering to work at the booth, Dwayne needs your shirt size and color preference. Photographer: No report. Host/Hostess: A sign-up sheet to work the door at the August party is being passed around. Please sign up. Old Business: At our July party, there were 42 members and 12 guests present. As mentioned previously, Rusty Duncan won the 50/50 raffle, and, he donated his winnings back to our club. Fun Monday ticket money and unsold tickets are due tonight. In order to have a free tent/booth at Fun Monday, our club must sell 100 tickets. If all tickets have not been sold by tonight, Steve Miller and Dwayne Baggett will sell our remaining tickets at Fun Monday. will have to write a check for $ for the booth; however, the check will be torn up when our 100 tickets have been sold. New Business: As mentioned previously, the menu for the August party will include pizza and salad. Members are asked to bring desserts. Robbie Farrell will be our DJ for the party. SOS will be held September 14 th through September 23 rd. Fun Monday is on September 17 th. received a thank-you letter from the Hall of Fame Foundation for our donation to their annual golf tournament. Dwayne told us that for every Shag Tag license plate sold, $5.00 goes to the Hall of Fame Foundation. In the last ten (10) years, over $35,000 has been donated to the Foundation from the sale of the Shag Tag. Announcements and Concerns: There was an update given on Genny Powers, who recently had to have brain surgery due to a blood clot. It was reported that she is weak but in good spirits. She will be in rehab for at least 2 weeks. Julie Jacobs mother passed away. Our condolences go out to Julie and her family. Steve read the birthdays for August. The meeting was adjourned. The son of President Pat Trujillo was in a very serious motor cycle accident recently. Please keep him, Carl, in your prayers for a complete and rapid recovery.

Member cost is $5 each month and guests are $8 each visit. Meetings held at VFW Post 5631, 1500 Webb Str., Sanford, NC, from 7:30-11:30 PM. DJ s vary each month SamCo Shag Club Events for SamCo Shag Club for 2017 will be held at either Coharie Country Club, 101 Coharie Drive, Clinton NC or at the Clinton Moose Lodge located at 2720 West Main St. in Clinton NC Please see our web site calendar for details: com/ Moore Shag Society PO Box 992 Southern Pines, NC The Southern Pines Elks Lodge is the home of the Moore Shag Society. The regular dances are held the 1st Saturday of each month downstairs in the lounge where there is a nice 18 x 18 wood dance floor surrounded by mirrors on 3 walls. Seating is available between the dance floor area and DJ and the bar. Cover charge is $7 and the club provides appetizers and desserts for members and guests. Approximately members attend each monthly social starting at 7 pm. The Moore Shag Society also sponsors 2 to 3 larger parties each year held upstairs in the ballroom. (HASA) Dance Parties are held on the second Friday of every month at the Shrine Club in Dunn located at 211 North Clinton Ave. For more information please see web site:
