1 The Peach Beat November 24, 2018 Weekly Newsletter Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving! We had a small crowd on Saturday but still had lots of fun. It was great to see Mike Williford back after recent surgery. It was great to see Robin and Bob Cookson back in town too. We also had several visitors. Someone left black ladies dance shoes in black drawstring bag at Elks Lodge. The shoes can be found on Thursday night at the DJ booth at the Christmas party. The new location is at: Fire and Brimstone Tavern Old Alabama Road Connector Alpharetta GA We will be dancing there on December 15. Come check it out! No cost for members. $5 for visitors. Time 7-11PM. Dance floor (currently painted concrete) is in the private room on left. Both tables and booths available. This is a full-service restaurant with a bar. If possible, please plan to eat here so we can support this restaurant. Clean, functioning bathrooms 7.5 miles from Nemoe s Plenty of parking with adequate lighting We will have a special called conference on December 15 to vote on whether Fire and Brimstone will be selected as our permanent location to dance.

3 Our Christmas Party is almost here! Christmas Party Information: Dates: Thursday, November 29 Saturday, December 1 We are having our party at the DoubleTree Hotel. Don t forget to make your hotel room reservation! Please make sure you purchase your drinks in the ballroom that way our club will get credit for the purchases. Registration: We have one-hour time slots available for the registration desk. Please Debbie Halcomb (djhalcomb@outlook.com) to reserve your time slot. It s a great way to meet out-of-town guests and also ShagAtlanta members. Decorating for the party will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 28. Please come out and help as much as you can. We d like to see some of the newer members decorating too!! It s a lot of fun and you ll get to know the members and how everything works.

So, we are grateful for whatever you can do. If you are willing to bring a dish, please email Barbara Jones barjonesey@yahoo.

4 We will host our traditional Hospitality Suite from 4:00-5:30 on Friday afternoon. We are asking mostly for "finger foods" or heavy hors d'oeuvres. We are also providing a continental breakfast from 9:00-11:00 Saturday morning. So, we are grateful for whatever you can do. We will be dismantling all decorations on Sunday morning at 9:00 am. We need you there too, so please plan on helping then as well.

13 Message from Rena Wood Our Dance Class Coordinator Extraordinaire FREE SHAG LESSONS WILL RESUME FEB 2nd JACKIE & CHARLIE BASIC PLUS CAROLINA SHAG DVD'S ARE BACK IN STOCK PLEASE READ: I need volunteers to help decorate for our Christmas Party. We will begin decorating the hotel at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 28th. Hopefully we will be in & out quickly...i hope. Be sure and keep your eyes on the Weekly Update as we move along in search of a new home to dance. We will try to work in a line dance or two while the shag lessons take a break. Pick up a "JACKIE & CHARLIE BASIC PLUS CAROLINA SHAG" DVD for a Christmas gift, they are $25.00 each. Great to have on hand to go over steps taught in BASIC I and BASIC II.
