2 Notes from the Board Guest Columnist, Carol Kussmann WOW, it s hard to believe that we are entering the last quarter of Time does fly as we enjoy circling around the dance floor. For Continental Dance Club the month of September also means it is time to start accepting nominations for our Board of Directors. There will be plenty of time to campaign for votes as the vote doesn t take place until December 1 st. To be eligible to run for office, you must be a member one full year effective January 11, The term of office is two years; however, once you ve had the opportunity to serve with some fantastic people on the board, you can run for additional terms because the consecutive term limit is six years. What I personally love about CDC is dancing to a wide variety of band music, the opportunity to learn new dance steps and patterns, our always fun special Sunday themed parties, the chance to wear formal attire at our balls and the friendships that continue to grow weekly. To make these fun times possible for all, it takes a team of eight people willing to accept a place on the board. 4 1 2 Continental Dance Club September, 2015 Volume 55, Number 9 Dance Instruction September From our Dance Instructor Chairman Freda Hutcheson The intermediate/advanced dance lesson for September is the Quickstep. On September 6th, Scott and Yulia Shook will teach. for beginners who are not familiar with the dance. The beginners lesson for the remaining Sundays in September is Foxtrot. The dance lesson in the small ballroom is free with paid admission to the dance. Our members volunteer because of their love for dancing. Kathleen Ilo will be teaching September 13th and 20th. Kristiina Ilo will be teaching September 27th. We thank Scott and Yulia Shook as well as our member volunteers, Sonny Smith and Marilyn Sutherlin who taught our August lessons. Dave and Sue Berard will be teaching our beginners in the small ballroom. 5 Kids Dance Outreach Continental Dance Club received this heartfelt thank you note from Michael Johnson, Director of Kids Dance Outreach. Through the generosity of our members and as a result of our love of dancing, we sent them a check for $500. The plan is to send them a quarterly check using 50% of the proceeds CDC receives from our weekly split the pot drawing. Guess you would call this a win- win- win plan. You have a chance to win 50%, CDC uses 25% to make our dances special and 25% will help KDO continue their work.
