Many dancers showed support by wearing their favorite school s shirt. It was a great night of dancing and enjoying pizza and other snacks. Over the Labor Day weekend, I attended the Rolling on the River dance event in St. Louis, MO. It was a sold out event! During the weekend activities, I attended the American Bopp Association (ABA) meeting representing our club. Here are the main discussion topics: o The annual ABA meeting has been moved from January to March 9, 2019 in Nashville due to weather concerns. o Discussion regarding next year s music license to protect all ABA clubs. o ABA President and Treasurer Elections will be held in March o To date, 260 people have signed up for the ABA sponsored cruise going to the Bahamas, St. Thomas and St. Martens on Feb. 23 rd thru Mar. 2 nd. We had a board meeting at Ernie Callard s home on September 10 th. I want our members to know there was much discussion about our new sound system and to let you know it s still a work in progress. Please understand we have limited time before our Wednesday night dance to try out suggested changes to achieve the best sound. Your suggestions were discussed at length and I will try to speak to each member regarding their concerns. Nominations for the GLSDC Board Members will take place October 3 rd. All positions are open to any member in good standing. Each position is a two (2) year obligation. Don t forget we are celebrating Halloween on October 31 st at Rollhaven. It s time to pick out your costume! October s dance lesson is Salsa taught by Angela Markle. Here s the DJ lineup: Angela, Dave, Ed, Joann and Angela. 5 Election for New Officers According to the Club Bylaws, any member can be nominated for any Board position. All you have to do is accept the nomination. Talk to your friends and encourage them to become active. Nominations will be taken October 3 rd after club announcements. Ballots will be sent out by mail if more than one (1) person runs for a position. Final election(s), if necessary will be December 12 th. New Positions will take affect February 1 st, Board of Directors Election October is nomination month. Each position (9) is open to any club member in good standing for the following positions: President Vice President Treasurer Secretary Trustees (4) Creates the agenda and presides over all general membership meetings, responds to all correspondence and questions regarding the club, and supervises all the business of the club. In the event of the absence of the President, perform all duties of the President, promotes all club activities, promote and secure advertising for the newsletter with log of months/payments, keeps Inventory and storage of club decorations, distribute- collect- and count of any voting, and announce those results. Responsible for all funds of the club; the deposits, collects receipts, bookkeeping records of all transactions, pay bills, give a statement of finances monthly, balance inventory and memberships with deposits, provide the financials statement documents as needed, and is typically in attendance for each dance occasion to write checks, collect monies, and prepare deposits. Record the minutes of meetings, compile and submit minutes, read/handout minutes of previous meetings and other correspondence. Logo Custodian (elected) Manages the sales of club inventory, provides monthly statements of inventory on hand and monies collected. Membership/Birthday (elected) - Requires experience with Excel/Numbers, printing/laminating cards, printing welcome letters, stuffing and mailing membership cards/letters, provides monthly birthday and mail label list. Newsletter Editor (appointed) - Requires writing/editing and electronic media skills; publish monthly newsletter. Website Webmaster (appointed) - Requires appropriate software/hardware, image editing and website construction/management skills; manage club website. Each position shall be held for two (2) years.
