It s been a very progressive month! We have a newsletter going again and the website is getting better updates. Thanks to DeAnna for volunteering to run the newsletter and Teresa for agreeing to manage the website updates. We had a funtastic time at Lara Dunn s birthday party on May 6th with a great turnout. Food was great and lots of dancing going on! Thanks to everyone who setup and put away the dance floor. We will be running an election pole on June 6. See Dennis or Bob if you can help out. Coming up we have the Abracadabra dance on June 10 at the VFW hall. Please notice the new location. If it works out, we may use this place as our permanent monthly dance hall. I will be performing three 20-minute close-up magic performances during the open dancing (8:15, 9:15, and 10:15). Be sure to catch one of them. Start collecting stuff for the swap meet. We will be having one soon. Members Roundup Corner... But I think we ve accomplished a pretty good one for June, thanks to my new Assistant Staff Editors! Thank you Alice Ferguson, Barbara Evans, and Terry Nash. 2 Honky Tonking... By Alice Ferguson Night Clubbing in our area offers us a chance to show off what we have learned from all those Tuesday night lessons. You get to dance the Two Step to the Ten Step to live music ringing in your ears. Whoop it up with line dances like Badonka donk, Electric Slide, Tush Push, Slappin Leather, Boot Scootin Boogie, Elvira, Cowboy Cha Cha, Reggae Cowboy, Tulsa Time, and many more. Hum away to your favorite Waltz or Couples Dance as you swing your partner. There is FREE fun to be had seven nights a week at The Cowboy Palace Saloon in Chatsworth ( ) dance lessons starting at 7pm. Two Step on Monday, Swing on Tuesday, Advanced Two Step on Wednesday, Line dance on Thursday and Friday, Couples on Saturday. Then at 9pm every night of the week do it all to live music! Now at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks ( ). Country- JUNE 2006 NEWSLETTER Western Dancing is offered Tuesday & Thursday for beginner lessons at 6:30 and Intermediate lessons at 7:30. Then on Saturday a live band to play all our favorite dances starting at 9pm. Maverick s is one of our favorite hot spots in the Santa Ynez valley ( ) with popular live bands playing every Friday and Saturday nights. They too offer dance lessons prior to the band s performances. Caught Red Handed is showing off at Chumash Park in Agoura Hills ( ) on August 3 rd at 6pm. Bring a picnic and a blanket to enjoy an evening of free music and dancing. Hope to see you around showing off your favorite Country Lovers shirt or jacket! Say Howdy to our NEW MEMBERS! Terry Nash - A California transplant with a Midwestern childhood, that s our Terry. From her love of dancing she wandered into Country Lovers seeking to learn the basics and get some exercise. She never anticipated all the warmth and friendliness expressed by our members, making her feel like family. She deciding to join us here at Country Lovers as our newest member. Terry is a counselor and our first paid advertiser, please look for her business card in this news letter. What I learned at the May 3rd Board Meeting... By Barbara Evans A. Signing in each Tuesday night is not something we do just because Theresa likes to see our smiling faces. Our liability insurance company accepts the sign-in sheet and notation of payment as proof we were there, in case any of us has an accident. If you aren't signed in, you aren't covered. B. We pay the Moose Lodge for the use of their facility based on the number of people attending each Tuesday. If you forget to pay, the club has to take money out of their pockets to pay for you. Signing in and paying our $2 or $3 each time is necessary. (It is also a real bargain compared to what I pay for lessons at the other dance classes I attend.) Be My Baby Tonight! Joined the Navy out of high school, served for over 17 years in the submarine service as a nuclear reactor operator. I am currently employed as an electrical engineer in Goleta, and live in Ventura.
