Our parties last year gave you the best return on your dues and admission dollars with catered meals, fun entertainment, and great dancing to fabulous music, and 2013 holds the same. I can t wait!! Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 16th because Indy Dancers will celebrate it s 30 year anniversary at the historical Indiana Roof. If you haven t danced at the Roof, you are in for a magical dancing experience. The large, round wooden dance floor has entertained dancers and famous big bands since The room is simply beautiful. Check it out at Also, you don t want to miss the fabulous spotlight dances we have lined up, including the IUPUI Swing Cats! But stay tuned, there will be more guest announcements coming soon. Additionally, you can reserve a table for 8 to 10 of your best friends!! This allows you to really enjoy the evening without the worry of coming early to save seats. See page 7 for details on tickets and tables. How about preparing to dance at the Roof? You won t want to miss our special Silver Foxtrot workshop on Feb. 2. For the regular admission, Scott and Yulia will have an hour of instruction on this fun version of the Foxtrot. All levels of dancers will enjoy this session. It s a deal you don t want to pass up!! Indy Dancers are always up for a party and Feb. 12 gives us double reason to have fun. It s Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday!! We ll have some beads for you to wear and share as you dance to Harriet s great music. Looking ahead to March, mark your calendar for our St. Patrick s Day party, Tuesday, March 12. If you have admired the dancers in River Dance, here is your chance to see what it s like to Irish dance. Read more on page 5. 2 Secretary s Report Treasurer s Report Indy Dancers January 15, 2013 Meeting Minutes Margaret Bell Indy Dancers, Inc. Income Statement Don Mindach The meeting was called to order by President Rhonda Bennett. There were no minutes or treasurer s report to approve. Please read the February newsletter, Footnotes, and check out the by-laws changes. The fun just keeps on happening. Mark your calendar for a few of the special upcoming events: Let s get ready to PARTY!!! Saturday, Jan. 19, 7:30-11:00 p.m., is a Blues Brothers Party at the Eastside. This is a special dance for Indy Dancers. Costumes are encouraged. As always great music and fun! Saturday, Feb. 2, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Greenwood Moose will be a one hour foxtrot workshop. The workshop will be for all levels of dance and lessons will go all the way to silver! Afterwards, there will be dancing until 11:00 p.m. - all for only $7.00 for members. What a deal! Save the date and come and join the fun! Tuesday, Feb. 12, 7:00-10:30 p.m. Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday. Tuesday, March 12, is our St Patrick s Day Dance. Learn to Irish dance to a simple Cailie Saturday, March 16, 7:30-11:00 p.m., Indy Dancers will celebrate its 30 th anniversary at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. We are excited that the IUPUI Swing Cats have confirmed they will do a spotlight dance. What a special treat! Tickets are on sale now for $20 each, and after February 26 th the tickets will be $30 each. Save $10 and get your ticket(s) early. No tickets will be sold at the door! The officers and Board of Trustees of Indy Dancers recommend that the by-laws be amended to change the term of office for the treasurer and secretary to correspond with the president and vice-president s term. The change would allow the treasurer more time to prepare accounts for filing taxes. During our April business meeting, you will be asked to vote on the by-laws as amended: Offices, Terms, and Elections Four elected office positions are: a. President, who presides over all club functions. Term: July through June. b. Vice-President, who presides during any absences of the president. Term: July through June. c. Treasurer, collects dues, other monies, and keeps financial records and submits reports to the membership. Must be bonded. (Club to incur the cost of bonding) Term: July through June. d. Secretary, records minutes of all meetings and submits reports to the membership. Term: July through June." If you have any questions about this proposal, please see one of the board members. 4
