It was so much fun seeing ladies in poodle skirts and guys with their hair greased back and rolled up jeans. And what fun to dance to a great blend of 50 s music provided by our dualing DJs Roger Greenawalt and Don Mindach. The floor was packed the entire night!! See page 6 for pictures. During the party, one member proudly announced to me that he had just renewed his membership. He was thrilled to receive a free admission to the dance and was very happy the evening s event included food at no extra cost! He understood the bargain Indy Dancers provided!! No doubt, Indy Dancers gives you the best bang for you buck. Remember our Christmas party? The low ticket prices were your membership and attendance dollars at work! Remember the free turkey and the trimmings provided at our Thanksgiving dinner? That was your membership and attendance dollars coming back to you. Remember our anniversary dance at the Indiana Roof Ballroom? The ticket price has not changed for at least the past six years because of your membership and attendance dollars. For entertainment value, Indy Dancers can t be beat! But now is the time to renew your membership for another year, and you don t want to miss out on all the fun. If you renew by June 1, we will give you one FREE admission!! What a bargin!! Want to get geared up for the 500 race?? Join us for our Snake Pit party this month! Wear your race day hats and shirts, and put on your sunscreen. We will celebrate one of Indy s oldest traditions. Of course, we will have Snake Pit-type food, too - all for the regular admission price! Also this month, tickets will go on sale for the annual Big Ballroom Bash, July12. Indy Dancers is a proud sponsor of this fun and elegant event, which benefits Special Olympics of Hendricks County. Tickets are $22 for Indy Dancers members, but they go fast! Income Statement Don Mindach Our President Rhonda Bennett called the meeting to order. The minutes and treasurers report were approved as printed in the April issue of Footnotes. Our anniversary dance was a great success. The dance floor was full and everyone had an awesome time. Thanks for coming. When you renew your membership by June 1st, you will receive a special 'thank you' gift. But this is ONLY if you renew your membership by the June 1st deadline. You will receive one free admission ticket, a $7 savings! There are so many 'perks' that come with an Indy Dancers membership. Think about how many times you have enjoyed free food, dance lessons at no additional cost, Christmas party tickets at a reasonable rate, and anniversary party tickets, not to mention the fun and fellowship at every dance. So renew your membership (single $30 or married couple $45) by June 1st and get one free dance admission for a $7 savings. What a deal!! The fun just keeps on happening... Mark your calendar for a few of the special upcoming events: Let s get ready to PARTY!!! Tuesday, April 16, we re dancing at 8 Seconds. Right after the 7:00 p.m. dance lesson, Manager Rob is going to fire up the bull for Indy Dancers. Two bull rides for $5; they can be shared if you wish. Put on your jeans and cowboy boots, buy some tickets, and see if you can ride a mechanical bull for 8 seconds! Come and see who the winner will be for the longest ride. It's fun, challenging, and lots of laughs so be sure to join us on Tuesday, April 16th. Saturday, April 20 we are having a Grease dance party at the Eastside. It's always fun to see the gals wearing those poodle skirts and saddle oxfords, and the guys in their blue jeans and T-shirts. There will be FREE food and music provided by our dualing DJs. Friday, July 12 is the Big Ballroom Bash, more details upcoming. Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m., we will be dancing at the Sugar Grove Senior Living, 5865 Moon Road, Plainfield, IN. Bill Balz, an Indy Dancers member, is a resident and we will be dancing for him and the other residents. If you would like to join in on the fun, please contact Rhonda Bennett. Bill is also known as the magic man. We would like for everyone to wear their black Indy Dancers T-shirt or a black T-shirt. There will be dancing and we would like to have some exhibitions. The 'show' will be approximately 45 min. The board proposed that the by-laws be amended to elect the secretary and treasurer in June to correspond with the terms of the president and vice-president. A motion was made and seconded followed by a voice vote to accept the by-laws change. The election for president, vice president, secretary and treasurer will now be in June. Two tickets were given away for the IRT for Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m. for the first person that could 'name that tune' that Harriett, the DJ, played. Cindy Babb was the first person to correctly identify the song 'Ole Time Rock and Roll. Congratulations Cindy, enjoy the IRT!!! There being no further business, the meeting was closed after a motion was made and seconded.
