4 Program Philosophy Overall Philosophy Part of the overall education and ministry of Shoreland Lutheran High School. Provides an opportunity to use a variety of gifts and abilities to God s glory. Being a member of the baseball program is an honor and privilege. We will be defined by our poise, toughness, resilience, determination, character, attitude, and work ethic. Junior Varsity Development of basic fundamental baseball skills in preparation for competition at the Varsity level. Varsity Continued refinement of fundamental baseball skills to compete for the Metro Classic Conference title and a Division III State Championship.

5 Parent & Player Expectations Christian Role Models First and foremost, you are representing your Savior in all you do. Your actions and attitude reflect on our high school and its mission. We expect our players to glorify God in all they think, say, and do on and off the baseball field. We expect this of our parents as well. Positive Sportsmanship Cheer enthusiastically for your team! Dugout/Game Policy We do not allow parents or other students (unless they are managers) in our dugouts during the game. During the game is not the time to be coaching your child. That is our job. Please respect our request that you do not interfere with that job during the course of the game.

6 Communication Policies Conflict Resolution God s Word in Matthew 18:15 commands that such conflicts are to be settled through proper communication between the people involved. Communication: Athlete to Coach Parent to Coach Family to Head Coach Family to Athletic Director Family to Principal 24 Hour Communication Rule: Wait 24 hours following competition before reaching out to a coach

7 WIAA Eligibility Rules Academic Eligibility: See Student Handbook pp Maintain a GPA of 1.85 Amateur Status: Illegal to accept reimbursement or award in any form of (a) salary, (b) cash, (c) merchandise (d) share of game proceeds Allowable to accept badges, certificates, cups, trophies, medals, banners, ribbons, pictures, event T-shirts, event hats, game balls, unattached emblems, letters, season highlight DVD or video Non-School Participation: In Season Can only compete with Shoreland team Legal to practice with instructor or club team

8 Attendance & Code of Conduct Playing baseball for Shoreland Lutheran High School is a privilege. To earn that privilege athletes have to demonstrate their ability to manage their priorities both academically and socially. Attendance: Must be in school all day to eligible to practice or play in games Exceptions - appointment, funeral, college visit, etc. Code of Conduct: See Student Handbook pp st Offense - 25% of Season 2nd Offense - 50 % of Season 3rd Offense - ineligible for remainder of enrollment 24 hour clause Drugs, alcohol, sexual misconduct, fighting, vandalism

At away games, the host school would provide a trainer if one is needed. Communicating Injuries: Players need to communicate with the coaching staff if they are injured.

13 Games Home Games: Played at Shoreland Lutheran High School All weeknight games begin at 4:30 PM unless noted otherwise. Weekend games vary with start times. Pay attention to master calendar. Players should expect post game responsibilities Away Games: Shoreland provides busing for all teams unless noted otherwise. Parents are required to sign their child out with a coach when taking them home from an away game. Game Day Information & Field Locations: Schedule listing times for dismissal, batting practice, departure, and mode of Transportation. Field locations can be accessed by selecting the name of the field on the schedule link. Master
