Summary Utvecklingsträffar Swedish Cricket 2017
1. Background Swedish Cricket has grown quickly in the last five years and in autumn 2017 it was time to take a first step to meet and together start creating the future's Swedish Cricket. The aim of the meeting was to tell participants what is happening within Swedish Cricket, to be involved and to have a chance to develop their club for the future. The aim of the meetings was to create a common starting point for all clubs and to have the opportunity to have a dialogue about some important matters for cricket. During the three-hour long meetings, the participants heard more about what it means to be a club and member of Riksidrottsförbundet, got to talk about how the club's activities work today, identify what the clubs would like to do to develop their activities and the participants also got some concrete tools to continue work at home. The federation presented a little of everything planned and participants were also told about the support and help they can get from the SISU districts. On-site there were cricket contacts from the SISU district that led meetings. Implementation of the meetings At the seven Utvecklingsträffarna, about 30 clubs (of our 60 active clubs), around 58 people, and 5 representatives from the Board of SCF and the staff of SCF participated. In the invitation it was recommended to the clubs to come as focus groups, ie to have representatives with different functions and roles in their club; parents, coaches, youths, elected representatives, new cricket enthusiasts and experienced cricket enthusiasts, etc., this proved very enriching for the processes. Research shows, among other things, that young people want to participate and be envolved, but many times they do not even get the question. Focus groups will still be recommended to increase the envolvement in the clubs and within the Swedish Cricket Federation and to broaden the perspectives and broaden the discussions - we are all important on our journey towards The Utvecklingsträffar were identical in all seven places and what was discussed during the evenings has been compiled and presented in this document so that everyone, even those who were unable to attend this time, will receive input and new ideas for everyone's important work towards one yet stronger and even more prosperous organization. The Utvecklingsträffar gave many inspiring and important discussions about the current situation of Sweden cricket and they provided a good basis for the continued work for us at the federation.
2. Agenda for the meetings Agenda for the Utvecklingsträffarna: 3 hours - Introduction: Objectives and Purpose of the Development Meetings and what is going on within the Swedish Cricket and the Federation o Slide 1-11 in presentation - Part 1. SWEDISH CRICKET TOWARDS 2025, about being part of svensk idrott o Slide in presentation - Part 2. THE CLUB IN FOCUS o Slide in presentation - Part 3. REGIONAL COOPERATION o Slide 35 in presentation - Ending of meeting: Support to get from SISU districts and make your voice heard at the annual meeting o Slide in presentation Part 1. SWEDISH CRICKET TOWARDS 2025, about being part of svensk idrott Slide 1-11 in presentationen During this part, participants were given knowledge of what it means to be part of the Riksidrottsförbundet and Swedish sport, what strategy 2025 means and what needs people have today in their spare time and what we need to do to meet them.the method "Three new formats of cricket" was used, with the aim to start discussing how we can, with different new, fun and inspirational forms of cricket, "lower the thresholds" to our sports and reach new participants.
Summary of what was mentioned in the method Three new formats of cricket Together, the participants were asked to discuss and write down different forms of cricket to reach new target groups, which in many cases have no knowledge of cricket: Question: Note 3 things that become important to us within the cricket family in the future as regards shapes and target groups
Part 2. THE CLUB IN FOCUS Slide in presentationen In this part we discussed the purpose of each club, democracy and everyone's equal opportunity to be envolved and the clubs were supported in structuring their continued work. The "Start doing, Maintain and Stop doing" method was used, with the aim that the clubs could bring home the method to and continue to work on this. Summary of the method Börja med, Underhålla och Sluta med In groups, participants discussed and wrote down how they want to work in the future to continue to grow as a club and reach new target groups. Question: How do you work today in your club with democracy and everyone's equal opportunity to be envolved? Börja med (start doing) What we in the club should start doing Underhålla (maintain) What we in the club should maintain or perhaps develop Sluta med (stop doing) What we in the club should stop doing

Part 3. REGIONAL COOPERATION During this part, the purpose of regional cooperation was discussed and what the clubs want to achieve with it, the method "Three important points" was used. Question: How should we best cooperate regionally in order to work together towards the strategic goals in 2025? Summary of the method Three important point about regional cooperation
3. Evalutation and comments about the meetings After the meetings a short survey was sent out to the participants and below are some of the answers received: Question 1: Vad tyckte du var bra med träffen? // What did you think was good with the meeting? The feedback you asked from the participants on how to engage more people and make the cricket more intresting and participative in our local cities. The time you give to every participants to give their views on what hardships they face in their respective cities. det var väldigt viktigt för framtiden att planera och alla var positive om cricket. Nice meeting with good interactions Det är inte så enkelt med en ny sport, kändes skönt att höra vad ni kan göra för oss o att fler känner likadant We got very good information with good presentation standard, furthermore we met also with different clubs members, and built some relations as well. These meeting should be continue in the future and also we got information about cricket is growing in Sweden. Different aspect to develop the Swedish cricket as a international ievel. It was plus point we all team sit together and try to solve problems with scf It was good to meet up, face to face, with Linda and Azam and another club to share views and experiences. It ensures that the clubs feel more connected to the employee group, I think that is even more so down here in Skane. Meet up, future plans, exchange of ideas, present situation Good initiative as SCF representative meets personally with cricket associations. // What do you think we should develop or change till next years Utvecklingsträffar? I am not sure if i am correct or not but i would like to see more of the material that will help the clud to develop such as what are the different funds they can apply from SCF or SISU or kommun etc for their club and infrastructure development hoppas att alla klubar ska delta under det här året. Develop youth leagues and talent from within immigrant and Swedish communities
You can give some advises about how to get grounds for cricket, further if you invite some clubs in the meeting, the presence should be mandatory of all clubs. That must be done, otherwise the clubs will not be serious about meetings. So you should invite the clubs strictly or mandatory. To invite and giving more intiative to the clubs for attending these type of occassion for the development of the swedish cricket more. If this is to be a regular thing, we need to have more participation from the clubs. The people who were there last night representing just 2 clubs, Malmohus and Halmstad already care about the game and understand a lot of the issues, its probably not this population that needs the support and education of what expectations SCF have on them. I think in future we should have the meeting in Malmo as 8 clubs are based there and this may mean more people attend. Finally I think the next meeting should be completely cricket related run by SCF and spent discussing how we can all work together and understand each others issues and leave the meeting with a couple of agreed and specific actions Det var en bra träff och jag själv tycker att det behövs ingen föränding på det. More detailed plans of SCF with regard to development of the game (umpiring/scoring/on field facilities etc.) quality during senior leagues as well as national and youth level cricket. //Did you get any insight or idea during the meeting that you hadn t thought of before? If yes, please describe it Such as how many kids or imdividuals want to play just for fun and competitive cricket is just a part of the club and not the only thing that we should focus on. We got ideas, for example how to involve children in the cricket. Like we got idea to visit children schools and show them physically that how we can play cricket by organizing different kinds of activities.
Different types of playing cricket, like street, beach and formates. It was great to hear we are now in activity stage and that we expect to get more ICC funding and support this year. The graph showing the structure of Swedish sport was also very insightful. the future plans of cricket, immense growth, interest of people, proper structure Question 5: Övrig kommentar // Other comment I would like to participate in more such events for the development of the Cricket in Sweden and in Västerbotten in specific. The way of the presentation, meeting place and time was really good. We appreciate and we hope that it will be continue in the next year as well. I really enjoyed and come to know leading people of SCF. keep up the communication and keep reaching out, it will come. I would like to see more tournaments organised for the kids. 4. Summary As we started with, the Swedish Cricket Federation has grown quickly in a short period of time, and many of our approximately 3,000 members are new in Sweden and are not previously familiar with how Swedish sports work. Therefore, it is extremely important that we spend time creating forums where we can all meet and discuss our current situation and where we are as an organization. To create understanding for each other and how we can support each other and contribute to the development of our federation and our sport. This form of meeting place was new to most, and yet half of the clubs signed up and, in most cases, with several people from the same club, we see this as a positive result. For us at the
federation this time it was very important that all three of us joined so we can start building a deeper contact and spending time discussing important issues. The choice of towns was made with the aim of as many as possible of all our clubs being able to participate, that is to say, not primarily then based on where most clubs are registered. It was only at two of the meetings that a woman participated and only a few of the meetings had youths, but apart from that, it was a good mix of elected representatives, coaches, active players and parents. We know from previous experience that this kind of meetings will be even more enriching when there is more participants. That the cricket contacts in the SISU/sport district were apart of the meeting was very positive as we at the federation sees it, as this is important contacts for our clubs. There are very good support to receive from them, in terms of education and other development support, as many of the participants were unaware of, and many have now booked new meetings with their SISU contacts after we met. The SISU contacts also have already established local networks to other clubs, schools, municipalities, etc. Contact areas that are very important for our clubs to continue to grow and reach new target groups. What is most requested and what are the needs: Here are some of the things the clubs expressed during the meetings: - to develop their training activities and other activities in the club. This, for example, by prova på-aktiviter in their municipalities, creating plans to take care of the new ones that come into their club so they feel welcome and to train the coaches. - To get help with facilities. We currently have 23 cricket grounds in the country, but as we grow throughout the country, more grounds are needed, but also to get access to indoor arenas for games even during the winter months. For this, support was asked for from SCF and SISU in order to establish contacts with the municipalities as well as to co-finance investments in partnership with municipalities and the SISU / sport district. - to focus more on envolvement in their clubs and developing the diversity and equality in their clubs. The clubs expressed that they wanted to do more actively in recruiting new players, leaders and umpires, and seeking new
arenas to find them. Here, among other things, it was mentioned that they wanted to stop taking decisions about the club without talking to the members, holding annual meetings, following the constitution and distributing the responsibility of the club to more. - To focus on education such as coaching courses, and wanted to have support from SCF and SISU to enable it. Partly that SCF takes a general approach and develops the internal and cricket specific courses, and partly that SISU is available for local / regional courses. - Developing safety around the cricket activities. For example, it was mentioned here that you want to clarify the rules regarding safety and to be better at using helmets, especially in the younger ages. - To start cooperating more among the cricket clubs, but also with other sports and clubs locally and where they wanted support from both SCF and SISU to make this possible. This included coordination of camps, competitions, joint meetings and regional coaches. - To focus in marketing and visibility of the clubs more actively and also wanted some help with joint marketing materials. - To get support from SCF to coordinate cricket activities so we go in the same direction, to unite Swedish cricket, provide opportunities to meet and communicate a lot. Finally. After the seven meetings and after all the important discussions, three parts stand out in particular: 1. That the clubs want to learn how to organise a club and to cooperate more. It is a strong and positive force for our organization. 2. The clubs want to increase participation, community and diversity in their clubs, but also in cricket as a whole. Part of the diversity is about recruiting and broadening their clubs with new target groups, such as girls and young people. 3. That the clubs have a large need for facility support in different ways, partly with local network and help knowing how and where they can apply for funding and learn more about how municipalities are important partners in this. After these seven meetings, we bring with us many insights, and aim now towards 2018 and all the good we will create together for our continued development! We aim for new Utvecklingsträffar in the fall of 2018, where focus will be on the issues that the clubs raised above as most eager to work on. We will be coming back with
more information. Thank you for all the important discussions and meetings! The staff of the Swedish Cricket Federation, Ulrika, Linda och Azam
