4 WHAT IS SNOWKIDZ? FIS SnowKidz is the first phase of the Bring Children to the Snow campaign. It is a unique program and communications platform that enables Organisers around the world to share and showcase events to bring children to the snow. Events can occur at any time and in any place around the world. For more information visit WHAT IS THE SNOWKIDZ AWARD As part of the Bring Children to the Snow campaign, the FIS Member National Ski Associations (full and associate members) are invited to submit their projects to compete for the FIS SnowKidz Award. The Award is presented every second year and aims to recognize and promote the best examples of bringing children to the snow, in varying national circumstances. It is designed to give future SnowKidz Awards applicants an insight into why this award recipient has been selected the in top three. It is the hope that future applicants will also find helpful hints and ideas on improving their events.

7 PROJECT DESCRIPTION In 2009 The Swedish Ski Association launched the initiative Everyone on snow. The initiative is a major collaborative project with many coorganizers, industry stakeholders and the public. Since the start, over fourth graders have visited Everyone on Snow events. The purpose of the whole initiative is to get young children interested in winter sports, which will hopefully lead to many new skiers in Sweden. To achieve this goal numerous events are staged throughout the country, which enables fourth graders to try the various FIS snow sport disciplines for free. During the winter of 2016, Everyone on Snow was organized in 38 municipalities. The initiative now has two full time employees who coordinate the events with the municipalities. Information

10 SUCCESS MEASURES LONG-TERM ENTHUSIASM PROJECT QUALITY Goal: To have in excess of participants by Status: Achieved, with more than Goal: To have 35 municipalities take part in the 2016 season. Status: Achieved, with 38 municipalities taking part. The initiative has now been in operation for 7 years with plans already underway for the 2016/2017 season. As such it is fair to say the long term engagement and drive is high. Furthermore we see the positive effects of the initiative driving involvement. Yes the initiative is run with high quality. This is due to numerous stakeholders and particularly local governments requiring only the best quality in delivery. To achieve a high level of quality events, especially event programmes, are planned well in advance. To maintain quality, local project groups are created consisting of municipalities, schools and ski clubs in association with the Swedish Ski Association. To ensure consistency in each project goal, a leadership manual based on the performed training provides structure and a checklist for event execution, follow up and further improvements. While having a strong structure the initiative still allows flexibility. This means event programs will be adapted according to each location. Information

11 TRANSFERABILITY COMMERCIAL VIABILITY Yes. The event program is based off a nationwide school syllabus. This means that the activities meet the standards and goals set by the national school board. Should another country also have a nation or state wide school syllabus this project can be activated. The initiative is commercially viable and selfsustaining. This thanks to sponsorship funds and the support of the many partners. Most of which donate their service or product free of charge. The winnings from the SnowKidz are also a big boost for the initiative. As the money can be spent on improving communications and hiring more persons to assist. Information
