10 10 Research Southampton City Council and Hampshire County Council worked together to establish My Journey, a campaign funded by the Department for Transport s Local Transport Fund A partnership between Southampton City Council, University of Southampton and Sustrans has been set up and has enabled us to work together over the past 18 months to begin implementing the city s sustainable travel programme. The programme has involved work with schools, colleges, businesses, hospitals and other major organisations to develop innovative methods of promoting the use of sustainable transport, including projects aimed at supporting groups where travel costs are a major financial burden and barrier. We have also seen a significant uptake of our adult cycle training offer, huge participation in the school travel programme (with over 40 schools now actively taking part), and a recent brand awareness survey revealed that 37% of residents now recognise the My Journey brand. We are committed to making Southampton an attractive place to live, work and visit, and with more people moving about sustainably, we are confident our focussed projects will continue to develop a truly sustainable city within the next few years.
