5 KEY FACTS & FIGURES towns and cities from 47 countries participated in EMW 2013, potentially reaching millions of citizens In 2013, some 730 cities organised a car free day event 8,035 permanent transport measures were implemented during EMW 2013, mainly improving cycling, walking & public transport besides planning for sustainable mobility

6 CYCLING MEASURES: 2012 and 2013 One of those top performing categories was New or improved bicycle facilities which includes i) enhancements to both bicycle networks and ii) bike-sharing schemes and iii) facilities such as bicycle stands in public areas besides

7 CYCLING MEASURES: EMW Award Shortlisted and Finalist Cities Sofia: safety cycling lessons, a bicycle game Beauty on a bike, registration of bicycles against theft, kids bicycle competition, workshops and lectures.

12 FUNDING OPPORTUNITY EUR 7000 funding to co-fund a sustainable urban mobility awareness-raising action taking place between 1 June 2014 and 31 December 2014 Available to any non-commercial enterprise - an NGO, local authority, public body or school/university/ research institute A committee of experts will select one winning promotional action per country* Deadline: Register your action on the Do the Right Mix website before 12:00 (CET) on 30 April 2014 (dotherightmix.eu/action/about) * Among EU s 28 Member States, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. Please note that campaigners in Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Romania and the UK are not permitted to apply as these countries have already received targeted support to set up national campaigns.
