2 Everyone is Welcome to Cherry Street Sports This is one of the major events at the club. It is also a major event on the bowling calendar. Bowlers come here from most parts of Australia for the Summerland Singles & Pairs. The reasons that bring them here are many, but include strong competition, good sportsmanship, excellent greens, and smooth management. The open draw on each day of competition is popular. Australian ranking points are awarded. Loyal and generous sponsors continue to support us & we return the favour. The board is strongly supportive and we have many bowlers there who appreciate our objectives. The best advice we can give you all is to have a relaxing visit, enjoy the facilities of our club, see the wonderful beaches, pools, waterways & parks and come back again to Ballina. If oversubscribed teams will be accepted based on the following performance criteria: achievements in both singles and pairs at National, State, Zone, District and Club level. Special consideration will be given to performance in previous Summerland events. The decision of the committee will be final. DAYS 1 & 2: DAY 3: 32 teams will play each day in sections of 4. (15 ends with no time limit). All Section Winners, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals & Finals 15 ends. No dead ends. 6 Conditions of play 2018 Greenmaster Pairs Games will be played under Bowls Australia Laws of the Sport of Bowls of January 2016 as amended. Sectional Play: Two days and eight sections each day: Will be three games of fifteen ends with no time limit commencing at 9 am. Last sixteen, Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Final: Will be fifteen ends with no time limit, knock out. Sectional Play The section winners shall be decided on wins and margins. (If a draw during sectional play an extra end shall be played to determine a winner,but no margin will be recorded). Should equality exist, the aggregate shots AGAINST each player shall be divided into the aggregate shots which the player has scored. The highest result shall be the winner. Should a tied result still occur then an extra end or ends shall be played to determine the winner. Bye or forfeit The player shall be credited with a win and total margins divided by the total number of games played in their section Trial ends No more than one end shall be permitted prior to each game No dead ends, re-spot the jack There shall be no dead ends. If the jack by the effect of play leaves the rink over the bank or over the side boundary or rebounds to distance of less than eighteen metres from the mat line it shall be replaced in the rink of play on the two metre mark on the centre line. If the two metre mark is occupied by a bowl, the jack shall be placed on the nearest available position on the centre line towards the mat line by the marker. Restricted movement Players during their games will be restricted in following their bowls in accordance with Appendix A (Conditions of Play) Section A.4 Weather Cessation of play due to inclement weather shall only be declared by the umpire of the day. A bell will be sounded and play on all rinks shall cease. Resumption of play will be announced when the greens are considered fit for play and any incomplete end shall be declared dead (Law 50 Clause 2). In the event that any time is lost the tournament committee reserves the right to add a time limit for the completion of a game. Where a game is started but not completed under these circumstances the scores shall stand as recorded at the cessation of play. Disputes Should a dispute arise during any match, the matter shall be referred to the umpirte whose decision shall be final
