Do you regularly bowl at other bowling alleys in the area? Yes % No % Total Responses: 237 If you answered yes, where do you normally bowl? Answer: Greenwood Answer: Greenwood Answer: Augusta Answer: SLV and Greenwood Answer: Greenwood Answer: Greenwood Answer: Since 2001, when we have used the alleys with grandkids, there has always been a breakdown. Stopped trying to bowl. Answer: yes, i bowl in greenwood also since slv has determined bowling is not an activity people are interested in! Answer: Sunday afternoons in Greenwood with visiting guests. Answer: I would have to go Greenwood. too far Answer: Greenwood If the bowling alley at SLV was renovated, how often would you use the bowling facilities at SLV per year? 25 or more times per year % times a year % 5 9 times a year % 1 4 times a year % Never % Total Responses: 236 2

In regards for planning for the long term needs of the Recreation Center, please indicate your opinion by choosing from the options below: Renovate the SLV Bowling Alley: % create an expanded fitness/exercise facility: % Renovate alleys and plan for an expanded fitness facility: 18 8% Do not make any changes: % Total Responses: 225 Optional Comments: Answer: I have only been here a couple years and have not used the AC myself. I keep saying I will use the alleys but never do, so I don't feel I have the right to say keep them just because I like the Idea that they are there. I'd like to see them stay but I do understand the issues we face so if they must go I won't complain. Answer: Quit playing what if games? Chance of an increase in people is going to be slim to none until there is a possible economic upgrade. Don't see one in the near to distant future! Answer: Do not see need to increase fitness center. What is the real usage of the meeting rooms? If that busy why not use the clubhouse at Tara more? Bowling alleys are unsuitable in present condition. Answer: also enlarge women's shower facility Answer: Haven't used the bowling alley because of poor condition. Answer: I became a legal resident of South Carolina and permanent resident of SLV only on this year. However, until my Maryland home sells, I am forced to "commute" 2 3 times a month to MD to promote the sale of my old home there. Once it is sold, I will bowl regularly. For three years I have been bringing visiting grandchildren there, for whom it is a great attraction. (I've owned my Monticello home since 8/2009.) I have 13 grandchildren in all. I very strongly oppose eliminating the bowling facilities which are quite adequate as they are now. Yes, upgrade them some day, but there is no real need to do so now...they are fully adequate and functional. But if enough want to spend $100,000 now to renovate, then I'm all for it. In promoting SLV as a bargain community to which to retire, I never fail to highlight the Activity Center's bowling facility. Eliminating them would be a major promotional loss. Bowling is a great social activity, even better than golf where you have to keep your mouth shut while playing. And, like golf, it can be played until the day after you die. Answer: I believe the bowling alley is an important feature for prospective buyers to SLV. There are few, if none at all, communities which offer bowling at their activity centers. I am at the A/C several times a week and see very few people using our existing fitness center. I cannot imagine, nor condone, spending money on an 'expanded fitness/exercise facility' when the one we have seems more than adequate where machines are not breaking down, nor are they even being used by the masses. Understandably, many bowlers have since moved on to Expo in Greenwood. But should the existing alleys be renovated and brought up to standards, I would imagine they would return to SLV. 3

Answer: The choices do not completely reflect my choices. I would like to discontinue the bowling alley, move the fitness to that area and use the old fitness area to increase the locker room facilities for women. The table sent did not reflect the usage of the pool area and pool classes cannot increase without increased dressing and showering area. Answer: The bowling alley is an amenity that most communities do not have and therefore we feel it is a plus when marketing this area. The only time the fitness area is crowded is early mornings after that there is no problem using the facility, with no waiting time. Answer: Make changes after doing exactly what you are doing now. Evaluate property owner input, both resident and nonresident, determine impact on marketing, generate cost/benefit analysis, act according to results of analysis and in concert with budget giudelines. Answer: You had a chance to get new pin setters for a very reasonable price and did nothing about it. More people would use it if it worked better. Answer: Bowling alley participation has gone down due to the poor condition of the equipment, not because of interest. The estimated cost of expanding the fitness facility is misleading inasmuch as $100,000 is only for Phase I. Phase II is another $ The bowling alley is a unique amenity that should be retained. The current fitness center is not fully utilized. Answer: Not sure how to answer above. We need more equiptment in the fitness center. There is always a wait for eleptical. We need more up to date equiptment such as ab workout. Would renovation include more equiptment or just paint and carpet? Answer: If the old fitness room is converted to meeting rooms, even just one larger room, cannot understand why we would need to spend 500,000 for that. Just using the space we already have more wisely is the answer for today. Answer: If the people here are too old and have too many health problems to bowl then they certainly cannot use a "state of the art" fitness center. I have heard the reason for a new fitness center is to draw new and younger prople here??? What age group are you targeting please??? Do you think any couple with children not through high school are going to move here and send their children to the McCormick school system????? If you do then you need to talk to any honest teacher from this school system. It is not going to happen. Thank you, Don Carmody Answer: The bowling attendance is down due to the alleys not working. It is very frustrating to just sit there when alleys breakdown. If you remove the alleys rather than update them, you are taking away a feature of the AC from the members and that would be a shame! It is nice to have the bowling alleys for our use and for company..family and friends and one of the reasons we chose to live here. Answer: We (POA) are not in any position for this type of capital expenditure. Answer: Use band aids on the present ally. When we become more fiscally viable, renovate and expand. The women's changing room needs to be included in the larger renovation/expansion. Answer: If you remove the SLV bowling alley, you will remove an amenity that is not available at many senior retirement communities. Most of the communities against which we have been compared are in metropolitian 4

areas that have bowling alleys close to them. Since we are so far from any other bowling alley, you will do a great disservice to this community if you remove it. I would like to see the survey that justifies moving the fitness center and adding an additional card room. You are just trying to remove the old ladies that play games at Tara. Ellen Cook Answer: we do not need any additional fitness center space that people are only going to use durring the hours they want to exercise. they have many hours of the day to use the current facilities and they are more than sufficiend Answer: SLV has a unique wonderful bowling alley not available to other retirement communities. It is failing because it is not advertized, and management has severley neglicted the required weekly and yearly maintenance on the machines. We do not need to spend 100k for an up to date bowling alley, nor do we need to spend 500k for new facilities, when we are told that food and golf are loosing money, how can this be if we can afford to spend this money? The bowling alley may not be used year round, but I do not use my winter coat year round, but I want it available to me when it is time. Please do not remove the bowling alley, for a few maintenance dollars a year the facility can be a great asset for our comminity use and enjoyment. Answer: How are you going to pay the $100,000 if you decide to expand the fitness center? This is an important aspect that members should know. Answer: The grandkids use it when they come to town. We could also go to Greenwood to bowl. Do we need more meeting rooms? Answer: This is ridiculous. When people moved here that was an amenity that was offered. We chose to let the allies go to hell, and then wonder why no one uses them. The same thing will happen if you let the golf courses go down hill. Repair them. Or, let the equipment in the exercise room go down hill and see how much use they get. Answer: I think its ridiculous that you are even thinking about getting rid of an ammenity without getting input and coming up with better ideas to increase the size of the fitness center! How about promoting the fact that we even have bowling lanes???? It's never been promoted in neighborlink when bowling season starts to try to generate more interest. This year the lanes have been great but we lost a lot of people from last year because the lanes were so bad. Have you given any thought to the fact that whatever was done during the summer to repair the pinsetters was the answer and it wouldn't cost $100,000 to repair the lanes??? I also know of a couple that wanted to bowl but were told at the AC they would have to wait until the former players were contacted. They didn't they joined a league in Greenwood. Why weren't they given the names of the league organizers so they could see if there was availability. Thanks, Bob Divita Answer: Reestablish an eating facility in place of the alley. Design it to be user friendly, wether you want a cup of coffee, lunch or just hang out after tennis, bocce, pickle ball, meeting, ping pong, fitness, indoor or outdoor pool, sauna, hot tub, bridge, casual meeting place, and do some bonding with other residents of SLV Answer: If the BOD decides to increase the fitness area in place of the bowling area Please make a walking track around the perimeter for winter use. Answer: As a board member when the facility was built we had a board member who had owned alleys at his previous home. In my opinion People are not looking at bowling allies they are looking for good and reasonable prices to take part in all activities. 5

Answer: Ask the bowlers what they think. Their the ones uses it. Answer: If you are not expanding the bowling lanes, I see no reason to change as long as pin setting equipment is in good operating condition. Answer: What does the data say relative to use of the bowling alley and of the fittness equepment? I rarely see either full? Although it is crowded in the fittness center it is the equipment that makes it such, is all used? Answer: as long as the bowling alley functions well. do nothing at this difficult economic time. I believe that the bowling alley is an asset and would hate to see it go away. Answer: Put a sprung floor in the renovated bowling alley space! We have to have an aerobics/dance floor to save our aging bodies and to free up the McCormick room which is not healthy for exercise use for the uses it was designed for! Occasional dances in there are not injurious. Regular exercise is. Answer: We already have a fitness facility. We have card rooms available at the A.C. also. Bowling alley is a unique amenity that should be continued. Answer: Since I do not use the fitness center or the bowling alley, I chose to skip this question! Answer: The bowling alley situation is a catch 22...(1)not many communities like ours have bowling lanes (2)our lanes are poorly maintained thus not attractive to league and non league bowlers (3)if they were better maintained perhaps the usae would dramatically increase? Let's not quickly write off an amenity (bowlng) when there is not a overriding need for additional exercise/workout areas. Answer: Lately, it appears that SLPOA is looking for ways to spend money with no real benefit. If the bowling alleys are replaced with a fitness center hello! we already have a fitness center. Either leave the bowling alleys alone or replace them with something new like pool tables. In these economic times, we need to be very prudent regarding unnecessary expenditures. Answer: Having a bowling alley here helped us make up our mind to move to SLV. Please don't take it away! Our grandkids and guests don't want more fitness rooms here when they visit! And we sure don't want to drive to Augusta or Greenwood to do things. Answer: The bowling CANNOT be justified with only 4 lanes. If an alley breaks down there are no options other to delay or cancel play. It is not cost effective to have an employee servicing the alley during play. It should be closed. Answer: We really don't need any more fitness room space. The people who bowl deserve to have it renovated. Answer: We think the conversion is a good idea, and do not think we should be considering any larger capital outlays at this time nor at any time in the foreseeable future. The same goes for Tara; it would be irresponsible to spend a lot a capital on it at this time. Answer: Considering that the fitness center is under utilized, it seems like a waste of money at this time. When there are 3000 residents, it will then be worth revisiting. Put the $100,000 to better use and provide a meaningful discovery package that will help to keep prospects in SLV and make them comfortable with the Village. A larger fitness center is not a sufficient drawing card at this time. Time to get back to basics. 6

Answer: Is there any truth to the rumor that a man from Greenwood could update all the bowling equipment and the allies for an estimated cost of $20,000. If we can update the bowling allies for that price then make the expansion of the exercise room somewhere else. Answer: Not everyone golfs or plays tennis or uses the pool & exercise room. Will be using for grandchildren now that they live closer. When the economy is healthier, let's revisit the 3rd option. Hope our opinions will really count this time. Answer: an expanded modernized fitness center is needed and will yield benefits to current members and attract new blood. Bowling is "old" now... Answer: This survey will surely be skewed in favor of the fitness center because many more people use it than the bowling alley. So the question is, does a minority of village members have the right to keep an asset? It is a variety of activities in SLV that attract people to our properties and it is important to keep as many as possible. When seeing numbers like $100,000 it suggests these are estimates rounded off to make a point that the alley renovation and fitness expansion are equal. I'm betting they are not! Questions like, can the alley be renovated for less and do we need to spend $100,000 on a fitness expansion? Maybe $75,000 will be adequate. Bottom line, this survey is misleading. Answer: Why are you doing a survey for the bowling alley but did not due a survey for spending over $200,00.00 for the Tara Dining room which is a complete waste of money and all we will have is a glorified 19th hole which is not going to bring more people to the clubhouse. Answer: If you update the lanes and Advertise, it will be used. remember the older home owners are getting too old to golf or bowl. thats the reason for the decline. We need to owners and a better economy. Answer: The dis repair of the alleys and having only limited personnel who can repair them is one of the reasons for decline in participation. Last year alley 2 was done for nearly the first 5/6 weeks of our season. Since we are only here for the inter, I really only use the alleys during the winter. Answer: When you get the money, option 3 would be our vote. However, at this time our budget is over stressed. How does the board propose financing any of these changes? Answer: I put I bowl but that is really the last 5 years I bowled but I am so sick of the lanes being down I stopped and many others have too. That is why your survey showing usage going down is a slanted study. Don't fix the lanes and get the usage down so it looks good when you post the figures so you get what you wanted in the first place. Not fair. Put in new lanes and see if the numbers go up. Answer: It sounds logical and affordable. Answer: Fix the equipment and use one of the meeting rooms to add space for fitness equipment. This is the last straw for me; if they close the bowling alley I am moving asap. Answer: With good repairman maintenance we can keep the existing alleys with no additional costs incurred for renovations. Don't feel the Fitness Center needs to be expanded since regular attendees note there are many spaces during the day when it is extremely sparsely used. However, what is DEFINITELY needed is an expansion of the women's locker rooms. With an olympic sized INDOOR & OUTDOOR pool and all kinds of Water Aerobics, the locker room is POORLY designed and is tight and cramped around the lockers...women trip over one another. 7

Additionally, the 2 shower rule was another extremely poorly designed amentiy. Women finally have to give up waiting on lines to use a shower. The showers and the size of the locker room are definitely undersized to meet the needs of all the water classes, and the size of the pools, and other fitness classes offered. Answer: Another approach is to close the bowling alley now and defer the $100,000 expenditure for the new fitness room until we start seeing some growth in the community and revenue from delinquent POA dues. Answer: New fitness equipment needed when renovations are made! Answer: I no longer use bowling facility because of age. But we must look to the future of the community and keep this as part of A/C Answer: I have gone to the fitness room a lot and not a single person is in there. Why do you think that a few individuals should damn bowling when you have dictated thousands of dollars for tennis, which in another couple of years will be deminished in #'s? Bowling is a sport just like golf, tennis, and all the other activities offered. Do not take away bowling! If you do, it just proves a select few always get what they want and the rest just ignored. I may be only one vote, but my vote counte as much as anyone else does! Answer: The condition of the current fitness room prompted my decision to make this my last year to purchase an annual membership. I'll return as an annual member when the new fitness room is opened. Sooner rather than later hopefully. Answer: Move Gym to where bowling ally is, use current gym to expand ladies locker room. Desparately need more locker room space for ladies safety and number who utilize it at one time!!!!!! Answer: Perhaps not a great time to spend due to lack of income and economy. Still need to make break form Trupp fiasco. Answer: where did you get the dollar amounts? last question should have been able to choose more than one response. Answer: While an updated alley would be nice, we believe that an expanded fitness center would serve SLV better over the long run. The alley is a useful recreation activity for our visiting guests but the upgrade cost does not seem to be justifiable. An expanded fitness center seems to fit the current marketing plan better. If we are sucessful in growing the community the current fitness facility will not meet the increased demand. Answer: Hard to determine without knowing how many use the bowling alley. Answer: Why do we need more meeting rooms? Are we not going to add another at Tara with that renovation? Answer: I moved here because up North the ONLY sport I did was bowl on a league. It was a major benefit to me. Due to the condition of the lanes, I have not enjoyed the sport in SLV lately. Answer: If there is not enough support for the bowling alley, then do nothing major for three to five years. Answer: While making improvements, the "Closet" behind the AC "Library" is not an appealing site for massages. Also, I would consider a sauna and whirlpool spa to be included in any new upgrade to our exercise facilities. Answer: The bowling alley is obsolete, as it has been from Day 1!! Put the existing space to better use! 8

Answer: However, can we afford to do this at this time.however,a case could be made to borrow the money at these low rates. Do we have the income stream to support this plan? Answer: When we moved here having the Bowling alley was very unique to SLV, which we liked. Don't believe you've done this study justice. Information shows useage at the AC is down across the board. One difference with Bowing is it's a pay as use it. So the est 1,000 people if they bowl 3 lines it's about $9,000 revenue, know it cost to have someone there for leagues. When I ask for info about details from a study that show how long do people have to wait for equipment in the fitness room, Chas Meyer said they didn't do one, so how do we know that we need another 2,400 sq ft of fitness room (are we just guessing). If you look at Bowling alley usage for past 7 yrs and only say 80% of it was leagues (which bowl 3 lines) and only use $2.50 avg for those lines it would be around $75K. I can't see how adding $100K in fitness area would add $75K to our bottom line. Understand we do look to the future, not sure we should dig into our reserves, not sure when we will come out of this down turn. We bowled several years on leagues but quit when almost every wk one lane would break down. So before making this decision lets see what a survey would say about how long are people waiting on equipment in fitness room, several minutes of waiting doesn't justify $100K for more room. Understand this is only Janice and my two cents worth. Mike Payne Answer: I was told and believe that the bowling alley could get "new" machines for much less than $100,000. We bought into SLV knowing and wanting the bowling alley. We plan to bowl with groups in the future and have not because of illness and travel. Now we are ready and willing to use the bowling alley. Our guests love it when we take them bowling. The bowling alley adds to SlV and should not be ripped out. Update the machines in the workout room and leave our bowling alleys alone. Leave the bowling alleys alone and update with "new" machines down the road when the money situation improves or take advantage of redone machines at a lower cost. You have a fitness facility and meeting rooms. Look at updating your machines so those in the fitness room have what they need. Answer: If the bowling alley is improved, more people will bowl. They quit because it breaks down too many times and slows play. Answer: After fitness center is relocated utilize space vacated as game room, i.e. pool/billiards, darts, ping pong, type of activities. Answer: We DO NOT need to expand the fitness center..it is empty and under used most of the day and for most days. I have never seen more than 2 people in the fitness center after noon and Sat and sun not at all. I love that I have the pool and fitness center all to myself everytime I go. WE DO NOT NEED an expanded fitness center and the bowling alley fills a need. Answer: Buy good used equipment for a lower price and add on to the AC when justified by a larger population. There is no justification to do that now under present budget conditions and there is no real need right now either given our current population. Eliminating the bowling alley would be a huge mistake relative to sales appeal and member enjoyment. If it were renovated, it would be used a lot more. No one wants their balls damaged by the machinery. Answer: We think it would be a minus to the community to lose a valuable amenity for future buyers and existing homeowners. 9

Answer: The tennis courts have been expanded & improved and the Monticello golf course has been upgraded. The bowling facilities should be next. Long range capital improvements should include expanded exercise facility & meeting rooms. Answer: Fitness center is not fool at this time and making it bigger will not fill it. Just building stuff in hopes people come is not the answer, there are a lot of things we could build. Like a Dog park, run etc. Answer: Why more office space? Answer: Do whatever will benefit SLV people the most at a reasonable price. Answer: In today's tentative economy I would not spend of our reserve money for non essential expenditures. Answer: Design and build a new changing/shower room for the ladies of SLV Answer: Unnecessary at this time. Do we have an excess of money we have to use? Answer: I have heard that there are used pinsetters in a warehouse that are in good condition and we could update for $25k. We don't need an updated fitness center; it is underutilized now. I work out and use the pool in the afternoon or evening and many times I'm the only one there. If we can't update the bowling alleys for $25 30K don't do anything. I'm sure we can come up with better ways to use $100k than a new fitness center. Answer: PLEASE include in the plans additional ladies locker room space. It is way too small and dangerouse when it is wet! Answer: You can build a huge house on the water for $500,000. You're not getting very competitive with your cost estimates. The A/C needs to offer more diversified functions. And, the ladies locker room desperately needs expanding and renovating. You need another survey to determine what to do with A/C after you get rid of bowling alley. Answer: I use the current fitness center at least 3 5 times per week. It's time for an update. Most of the current fitness equipment is showing it's age! Answer: The current fitness center seems to be under utilized currently. The bowling alley is a fun thing to use when visitors come, however, I do not feel that updating the facility would make much difference to the enjoyment level. Perhaps a lick of paint. It seems to me that this board is determined to spend money that can be ill afforded. Answer: In this austere time I think it is prudent to not make any changes. Answer: If these are the only four options you have considered you are getting close to being as foolish and irresponsible as Congress! Answer: I don't normally bowl; however, there is a group here that do on a regular basis. As long as the alleys are usable they should be retained and maintained. Additionally, until the economic condition of both the country and SLV POA greatly improve the POA BOD should be in maintain mode and not even thinking of capital improvement projects. 10

Answer: If the present gym is to be used for meeting rooms, perhaps part of the space could be used to enlarge the shower facilities in the locker room. I can barely fit in the current showers which appear to have been sized for children. Answer: Before doing anything with the bowling alley money should use to update the indoor pool area. Answer: I feel that the bowling alleys can be a very useful asset to the community if they would be brought up to current standards. When we moved here the fact that there were bowling alleys available was a definite consideration when deciding to settle here. Was it the number 1 factor? No, but it was viewed as a plus for the community. If the AC did a better job of promoting the lanes and had events there we could increase the usage. I wish the survey had asked all members if it was a factor in them moving here. Answer: I usually do not say much, but here it goes. The obtions above are very limited. The obtion I would have preferred is to update the bowling alleys and not spend so much on the exercise room. I don't think your numbers prove that we need such a large addition for exercise. I've never seen people waiting at the door to get in to exercise. As to the bowling alley, it was promised last year that they would be repaired, then out of the blue, someone decided to just get rid of it. The reason the attendance for bowling has dropped is because the equipment CONSTANTLY breaks down and nobody would make the effort to keep it working. I bowled last year and out of the 20 something weeks I bowled, maybe 2 times we did NOT have problems. I love living here and I like the bowling alley. The five years I have been here, nobody has even promoted the bowling alley. I found out by accident when I first came here that we even had one. So if you don't tell people it is there and promote it, naturally it is not going to be used. But as far as I'm concerned, you will work this survey in whatever way you can that it comes out with what you want to do and not what the people of SLV really want, just like the not so lovely logo that got shoved down our throats. I heard from numerous people that what they wrote and what was interpreted from that survey, were two different things. I don't know of anyone that chooses a new place to live from a logo. I sure didn't. But that is a dead issue now and we are stuck with a an eyeless bird that most people can't even figure out what it is. I've said my peace. I think the board does a great job most of the times, but when it comes to what the people really want, somehow the Board that the PEOPLE voted in, do not vote the way the PEOPLE want and that is upsetting. I'm done. Answer: This is a time to be frugle about spending money. I realize we have to move ahead with our amenities. The most cautious approach that meets the neeeds of most villagers is the best approach. Answer: Where do you get these numbers? I have some experience in construction and think $500 K is high. Really High. Answer: If the old fitness room can cheaply be converted to meeting space, fine. We don't have $500,000 to spend and stay solvant. Answer: Put a sprung floor for aerobics and dance in the new fitness center. Use wasted space between men and women's locker rooms for additional women's showers. Take the tiny shower our of men's locker room and put in larger one in that space. Answer: I like the fitness room where it is because of its proximity to the locker rooms where I like to change and take a shower..i use the work out room frequently and have never been in when it was crowded. Why expand it when it's currently underutilized? Respectfully, Sherry Stein 11

Answer: The bowling alley is like the outdoor pool, an added plus to sell SLV. Younger retired owner may just like having them Answer: more interest if up to par and advertise specials... Answer: We believe these figures are misleading about the cost of renovating the bowling alley...kurt personally approached a member of the board last bowling season with an approximate figure of $24,000 which included labor...would like to know where you got this figure of $100,000 to renovate???? We are very upset with this misleading figure to have this done. Answer: Find a way with used but good equipment to upgrade the equipment and the alleys Answer: Fitness center needs to be enlarged. Answer: a wet sauna (steam room) would be nice Answer: Removing the bowling alley makes sense. Expansion of the facility for future growth, which will eventually happen, makes more sense. We do it now or later. Now seems like a good time with money & labor costs being very reasonable. Answer: Bowling are a waste of resources for SLV and potential new buyers. We should not spend any money to maintain the bowling area or activity. The fitness center must be upgraded. Answer: The fitness room must have some natural light and an open air feel. Answer: I don't think we need to move the fitness center but could find a better use for the bowling area and hopefully bring back the snack shop at some point. I think the bowling alley is not a big draw for our community and I don't think we can afford new excersise equipment at this timw. Answer: It would be a mistake to continue to use much needed space for an amenity used by so few. Answer: We do not have the funds. Please be financially responsible. We will have better choices when stability resumes. Answer: I feel that the original lanes, are a good part of the sport complex, and that they should be rebilt to be what they should have been when the original buyers bought them. To remove them would be a slap in the face to those of us that would use the lanes if the were reliable. 12

Optional Comments: Answer: Bowling is a great exercise for me & my wife. We would use the bowling alley more than a larger fitness/exercise facility. I understand SLV would probably profit more with a larger fitness center, but for us, a renovated bowling alley would be best by far. Answer: I submit my comments based on current bowling activity. My full time residence at SLV begins Answer: I came here this year and I know what potential buyers are seeking. For us and other new folks we've talked to, the bowling was a significant factor because it is a social function, as opposed to a solitary workout. Bruce Smith was my real estate agent and he really emphasized the bowling alleys and leagues to us. Secondly, this season the machines have been working well during the league bowling. You don't need a major upgrade to the facility, just a person who can maintain it properly... although the oiling machine needs to be fixed or replaced, which is definitely not a $100K item. Thirdly, as someone who has recently bought here, I can tell you that we don't attract new people by reducing amenities. I question any survey that says more gym gear is needed. Every time I go past the gym it never has more than 2 or 3 people using the equipment. While your survey may show that people in their 20's or 30's like the idea of gym gear, recent active retirees in their 50's and early 60's are looking for activities where they can meet new people and enjoy time with their new friends. Contrary to the idea that your so called strategic thinkers seem to have, bowling is no longer something that drunk old men do in alleys full of cigar smoke. Rather, it is now a growing popular activity engaged in by millions of middle aged (like us) and family oriented, white collar people. Finally, if limiting amentiies is our marketing director's idea of how to attract new people, I think we should get a new marketing director. Answer: I recently moved to SLV. I own a lot and am renting a house until my home sales. I travel during the week so my usage of facilities is limited. I would like to participate in the leagues but they are during the week. The nearest bowling lanes are 30 miles away. Bowling is something I enjoy during the winter months. Usage of the lanes is limited to when the activity center is staffed or league play. The survey in my view is bias against bowling. I have used pool during the summer and the activity center on the weekends. I never saw anyone swimming (more for cooling off) in the pool. The most I have ever seen in the fitness room were two others. How much usage does the indoor pool get excluding classes? There are too many pieces of equipment in the fitness room, most rarely used. SLV is active from a golf standpoint but it is extremely rare that I see anyone walking or riding a bike. Try to come up with an idea for use of bowling lanes w/o activity center being staffed (member card activated). Answer: I am a property owner, but do not currently live in SLV. If I did live in SLV I would use the bowling center several times per week. This survey does not take into account the many property owners not living in SLV. My opinion...john Answer: I would encourage the Board to seriously consider enlarging the women's locker room. That situation needs more attention than the possible changes to the bowling alley or the fitness room. Several times in the AM every day there are 20 women in a closet sized changing area. There is wasted space in the entry way to the locker room. Please take a look at this space & see if a larger locker room is a possibility. Remember, happy women mean happy men! Answer: None of the above...expand ladies locker/shower room after phasing out Bowling Alley. 15

Answer: I do not reside in the village now but I do believe that not many people of my age do bowling any more. I would rather have a nice fitness/exercise facility when I retire to the community. Answer: I'm not a resident YET but will be in mid The bowling alley was one of the draws for us to purchase in SlV. I'm all for keeping the alley open. thanks. Answer: We do not live in SLV and have no plans to do so in the near future. If we did live there we would probably join a bowling league and use the bowling alley on occasion. 16
