3 ABSTRACT Inline skating is predominantly a recreational sport practiced widely internationally, it originated from roller skating and has evolved in such a way that allows the user for better maneuverability and speed. In the recent decade however, inline skating has substantially transformed into a sport many has taken a step further beyond recreation and has forged it into a competitive activity. With such transformation, it is crucial to ensure a systematic evaluation framework to safeguard the continuity and partiality of the sport, hence the creation of the International Rollersports Accreditation System (IRAP). The purpose of this system is to act as a guide for skating enthusiasts the proper way of assessing every individual skater based on their skills and provide a form of recognition and motivation to ensure the ability of the sport to further develop. SUMMARY The International Rollersport Accreditation Program (IRAP) is inaugurated to encourage rollersport evolution, it aims to tackle the problem of a lacking acknowledgement of skaters around the world and to generate more recognition towards the sport within the general public internationally. Through this, it provides the sport with more opportunities to develop further. Such opportunities are given through various respective mediums namely; IRAP Grading Program, IRAP Instructor course, IRAP Ranking system and FIRS FTC Judge certification. The objective of IRAP Grading program is to create a systematic evaluation for all skaters. This induce motivation for skaters towards a more structured direction and allow them to be able to perceive the sport further than recreational purpose. Additionally, it promotes the sense of satisfaction and achievement, which thereby promotes growth and progression to our sport. The IRAP Instructor course is dedicated to bring out the quality of inline skating teachings to skaters all over the world. It is initiated to provide a theoretical and practical knowledge training for skaters whom are interested in becoming a qualified inline skating instructor. The FIRS FTC Judge course is a judge certification course that promotes rollersport judging opportunities. It introduces prospective judges to the judging committee in order to break down the technical and tactical elements of the rollersport scoring system. The FIRS FTC ranking system introduced not only skater s ranking profile, it also provides the all new skate club ranking. Such ranking will be distinct by a point system, where both skaters and skate clubs strive to earn as much points for themselves and their skate club. Skaters and skate clubs with the most points awarded will be presented with the best skater/skate club of the year medal 3

4 1. INTRODUCTION TO IRAP GRADING PROGRAM Originated from Quads then to inline, its undeniable that roller-skating has evolved tremendously over the years. IRAP Grading program is inaugurated to provide a system whereby every individual skater will have a ranking solely graded by his or her skill level. The objective for IRAP is to recreate a systematic evaluation for skaters, to encourage a structured direction whereby all skaters can perceive the sport more than just recreationally. The sense of satisfactory and achievement in the process will allow more opportunities for the sport to develop further IRAP GRADING SYSTEM The IRAP grading system is implemented according to the specific set of moves required to be executed by the skaters during grading events. It will then be assessed corresponding to the skater's competency and technical level. The grading system consists of Basic Skating to Freestyle Skating, which ranks the skaters according to their respective skill levels. Skaters are required to complete levels of each discipline to be awarded a certificate of achievement. However, disciplines that involve time factor such as Speed Slalom, skaters will be graded according to their time trial. Skaters that have achieved in each grade level will then be named on the official IRAP website Frequency of Participation Grading examinations occurs every two to three months, however individual skaters are highly advised to only take part when they have adequate confidence on the next skill set since the difficulty of each skill set will increase by technical level Examination Regulations Certified examiners usually carry out the grading examinations. Each grading starts with a warm-up and basic rolling technique drills; it will then be brought into executions of the specific technique for each grade. Every grade examination will include all disciplines from Basic Skating to Freestyle Slalom, Slide and Speed Slalom. 4

5 1.03 IRAP GRADING RULE All skaters must be a member of a IRAP and be recommended by their Instructors to be qualified for the grading A completed grading form and respective grading fees are to be submitted 2 weeks before the grade examination date Skaters are required to be dressed appropriately in their respective attire IRAP GRADING ETIQUETTE It is necessary for all skaters respect the affair hence all skaters are required to present good etiquette and code of conduct on the examination ground at all times Skaters standard of conduct: Skaters are expected to wait silently for their names to be announced in courtesy of the others after their warm up. In any case of internal interruption before the examination, do notify your examiner beforehand. Foul language or aggressive actions will not be tolerated in the examination hall. If present, skater will then be disqualified from grading examinations No food or drinks is allowed on the examination ground at all times. Any infringement during grade examinations will be at the discretion of the head examiner or supervisor of the event IRAP GRADE LEVELS Conclusively, Basic Skating Grade and Freestyle Skating Grade will each consists of different level of requirements, level 1 being the basic and level 10 being the advanced skill level IRAP GRADING PROGRAM The IRAP system is classified into two different grading courses to ensure skaters from every level 5
