2 January 5, 2018 Dear ISI Member rinks: You are cordially invited to attend the 18 th Annual Toyota Sports Center ISI Competition! The competition will take place Saturday, March 24, 2018 and Sunday March 25, Continuing the tradition, our SPOTLIGHT EVENTS will take place with actual spotlights! COACHES There are 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place gift cards for the guest instructors that have the most skaters participating. $50 for 1 st Place, $25 for 2 nd Place, and $15 for 3 rd Place. Toyota Sports Center, located in El Segundo, California, is the training site for the Los Angeles Kings. TSC hosts the Summer of Excellence Training Camp, Step Up to the Next Level Training Camp 101, Home for the Holidays Ice Show, and an Evening on Ice an the Southern California Open Championships. The Toyota Sports Center is located just five minutes from both Los Angeles Airport and surrounding beaches. The 135,000 square foot, state of the art facility features three rinks including an Olympic and an NHL ice surface. A heated viewing area overlooks the ice and includes The Kings Cove Café, Ultimate Skate and Hockey Pro Shop and TSC Fitness Center. Enclosed please find all necessary forms and information regarding the competition. All entries must be received by February 17 th, Late entries, if accepted, will be charged a $35 late fee. A full competition schedule will be sent to each participating rink. Please note that all skaters must complete and sign the TSC Waiver. Entries will not be accepted without a completed waiver. 4 Waiver: Refunds All entries must have a TSC Waiver agreed to and accepted in order for the entry to be accepted. Entries without the completed and signed waiver will be considered incomplete and returned. No refunds will be granted after the close of entries. Non-Sufficient Funds: Eligibility: Rules: Judging: Most Entries Contest! Awards: Music & Registration: Rink Size: Accounting Review: Contested credit card charges will be assessed a $25.00 fee. Payment of the fee will be required before the skater is allowed to participate. All skaters entering the competition must be current ISI members and have tests registered at the levels they wish to compete. Events are offered to all ages Tots-Adults. All entries will be verified at the ISI office. The competition will be judged in accordance with the 2016 ISI Handbook and current Rule Revisions. All Professional members (Instructors), with students competing in this competition, are expected to judge an appropriate number of events. If you are not certified to judge, you must pay a coach credential fee of $50. Only instructors who have signed up to judge will be allowed to put skaters on the ice. The three instructors from non Toyota Sports Center facilities with the most skaters entered in the competition will receive gift cards as a special thank you for supporting our competition. 1 st Place $50 Gift Card, 2 nd Place $25 Gift Card and 3 rd Place $15 Gift Card. Awards will be presented to all skaters. Rink team trophies for 1 st 3 rd place finishes will also be awarded. All skaters/teams must check in at the registration table at least 1 hour prior to their scheduled event. Events may begin up to 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled time. Music is turned in at the registration table during check in. CDs Only. The competition will either be conducted on the NHL (85 x 200 ) size rink or the Olympic (100 x 200 ) size rink. All judge s scores are considered final! Only an ISI Professional member can make an accounting review request to the Competition Director for ISI events only. A review is only verification of these scores. There is a $75.00 fee for all reviews.

5 Events List of Events Description of Events Tot 1-4 Skater must be 5 years or under as of 03/18/17. Music duration is 1 minute. The routine should include all required test maneuvers for the level no extra content allowed. Artistic Synchronized Adv. Form. Pre-Alpha through Delta routines must include 1 maneuver from Freestyle 1. Music duration is 1 minute. See handbook for required maneuvers for each level. Skaters are limited to three attempts per required maneuver during their program, the best attempt will be judged. Backwards Spirals/Arabesques not allowed during warm-up in Freestyles 3 and 4 for the safety of all skaters. Skaters can participate in Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum levels. Refer to the 2016 ISI Handbook for duration times and updated limitations/requirements. Similar to Couples, but routines include pair lifts and pair spins as well. Open to all skaters in Freestyle 1 or above. There are no required moves and no props allowed. Emphasis should be places on the creative and innovative design of a skating program. Categories: Light Entertainment, Dramatic, and Character. This event is for two skaters performing together. Levels will be split into Low (Tots-Delta), Bronze (F1-3/Bronze), Silver (F4-5/Silver), Gold (F6-7/Gold), and Platinum (F8-10/Plat). Music duration is 1 min for low, 1 min 30 sec for Bronze/Silver, and 2 min for Gold/Platinum. This event is open to 2 or more family members only (of any age and skating level). Program length is 1 min 30 sec, and the routines may be fun, entertaining, emotional or portrayals of characters using costumes and/or props. Interpretive Rhythmic Skating Open to all skaters Freestyle 1 and above. Skater will hear music twice in locker room and twice on the ice during warm up. Instructors, parents, or anyone else may not coach skaters during this event. Music for all levels will be 1 minute in length. Rhythmic Skating events are for skaters in Freestyle 1-10 levels only. The skater will choose only one rhythmic prop per routine (ball, hoop, or ribbon) and must maintain control of the prop at all times during the

6 Ensemble & Production Synchronized Teams Dance 1-10 Solo Compulsories program. No additional props are permitted. Skater must follow same maneuver limitations as spotlight events. See 2016 ISI Handbook for event rules. Ensemble Teams: 3-7 skaters. Production Teams: 8+ skaters. A group number for 8 or more skaters to perform in unison. They can incorporate various skating formations such as circles, pinwheels, lines, footwork sequences and dance steps. For a description of Formation, and Skating categories, please see 2016 ISI Handbook. Solo & Partner Dance Similar / Mixed / Pro Partner. All skaters must pass the required dance tests to compete in these events. Skaters are no longer required to pass the entire dance test for the next higher level before competing individual dances from that next higher level that have already been passed. Skaters can choose to compete in any or all dances from their highest completed test level. Professionals and their students can compete together in the Pro Partner dance events at the student s current Ice Dance test level. The professional must be a current ISI Professional member, but does not have to pay any entry fees for that event. The professional will not receive any award. A separate event entry fee is required for each dance selected. Skaters will perform only three maneuvers below in any order with a minimum of connecting steps. Each maneuver may only be attempted one time. Any additional maneuvers from a test level or any uncaptured moves are not allowed. There is a 1-minute time limit for all levels. Skaters will use the full ice surface for their compulsory routines. Please Note: There will be no penalty given for the quantity of swizzles, stroking or crossovers in the Pre-Alpha, Alpha and Beta levels. 7 Extra FUN Events! *Discounted* Footwork Shoot the Duck Surprise Jump & Spin Description of Events Open to all freestyle levels. No props. Freestyle Skaters perform a oneminute program to music using various turns and connecting steps with limited jumps or spins. Skaters are judges on correct turns & edges as well as flow, variety of moves and choreography. Duration 1 min. Skaters will be grouped by approximate age and test level. Timing will begin when the skater s hips are below knee level. Skaters may come up on two feet. A 20 second penalty will be given for a fall. Skaters are allowed to hold the free foot while performing the shoot the duck. Surprise event! Skaters are grouped by level. Open to Alpha-Freestyle levels. Technical skills are not judged. Fun skating activity: relay race, shoot the duck, etc. Low/Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum. Two skaters enter the ice as a team. The first skater performs their choice of a required jump 2 times, followed by the second skater performing their choice of a required spin 2 times. Only the best attempt of each required element will be judged. If two skaters from different category levels wish to compete together, the team will be entered in the highest level of the two skaters.
