FIFA Manual Updates 2015 The Certification Process The same THIS SECTION (2) IS THE LICENSEE S RESPONSIBILITY
FIFA Manual Updates 2015 No certificates anymore point of reference is the website (
FIFA Manual Updates 2015 FIFA QUALITY The FIFA Quality (formerly FIFA Recommended One Star) category has slightly wider bands of acceptability and is primarily aimed at organisations wishing to provide facilities for training and community use, although fields meeting this category of performance may also be used for competitive play (subject to the relevant competition rules).
FIFA Manual Updates 2015 FIFA QUALITY PRO - (formerly FIFA Recommended Two Star) is the professional category and has been established to ensure fields meeting it replicate the playing qualities of the best quality natural turf pitches. This category is intended for clubs and national federation teams wishing to play competitive matches subject to the relevant competition rules allowing the use of Football Turf or undertake training on Football Turfs. The certification process includes further-reaching assessments typically only required for professional installations
FIFA Manual Updates 2015 The Certification Process If a field fails to satisfy the FIFA QUALITY PRO category, it loses its FIFA certification. A re-certification as FIFA QUALITY is not possible. Certification as FIFA QUALITY must be obtained by carrying out a new initial test in accordance with step 1. Previously this could be downgraded from Two star to One star for another 3 years
FIFA Manual Updates 2015 Removed Laboratory Tests 1. Stud slide and stud deceleration. 2. Wear simulation with the original lisport.
FIFA Manual Updates 2015 New Lab Test Methods 1. Heat Classification 2. Lisport XL Testing 3. Free Pile Height 4. Infill Depth 5. UV Stabiliser - FTIR

Only one specific product may be used per field multi colours if tested are allowed 3. Recommendations for the testing of run-off areas for both with natural and artificial fields
FIFA Manual Updates 2015 FIFA FIELD DIMENSIONS QUALITY PRO CHANGE FIFA QUALITY: 90m - 120m in length 45m - 90m in width FIFA QUALITY PRO: 100m 110m in length 64m - 75m in width

Maintenance Log O & M Manual 5. Designated operator & official training Failure to undertake adequate maintenance will also reduce the period of time a field may satisfy the requirements of the FIFA Quality Programme.
FIFA Manual Updates 2015 FIFA Maintenance Requirements supply the photos or it cant be reported to FIFA!
FIFA Manual Updates 2015 Additional Notes Additional run off test locations to be carried out but to be discussed further with IFAB Surface Planarity Principle - is straight edge required on run-offs as stated in handbook of requirements? Yes but it is not a fail criteria as it is not considered part of the playing surface under IFAB to be discussed further with IFAB.
FIFA Manual Updates 2015 Additional Notes FTIR Yarn Passport The process: For product testing a FTIR report must be supplied by licensee for the yarn Every batch produced for FIFA fields must have an FTIR report as well Visuals Flags / Goals - We would expect the technician to check these when they are on site and at the very least document either by comment of photos if there are issues (such as goals not being aligned with the line or broken corner flags).
World Rugby Amendments to the manual Which manual to test to? 1. Contracts Post April New Specification 2. Contracted prior to April 2015 Can be original specification 3. Retests in line with manual at time of installation
World Rugby Amendments to the manual TRANSITION DATE Product and Field testing: All products must comply by 1 st April 2016 From this date any new field should have a product that is World Rugby laboratory certified and the field should be certified to the May 2015 manual.

World Rugby Amendments to the manual How do World Rugby differ to FIFA? No - Ball Roll tolerances Yes - HIC Tolerance Critical Fall Height Severity Index Tolerances differ to the FIFA tolerances however the majority of tests are more in line with FIFA Quality (Originally 1 star) Field dimensions & Mandatory Run offs
World Rugby Amendments to the manual Please Note: The member union has to accept the pitch as well prior to World Rugby certification:
World Rugby Amendments to the manual Additional Points to note: 1. Entire surface is straight edged 2. Dimensions are checked for the entire carpet 3. ID white lines on the surface (Tufts & stitch rate & gauge on white lines)
World Rugby Amendments to the manual Visual assessment has been intensified 1. Seam failures - Looped yarn/pile - Uneven fill - low or proud areas - Exposed irrigation heads 2. Exposed goal and flag sockets - Upright goals - Position of goals - Loose bungs for goal sockets - Loose or dangerous goal structures, flags which do not comply 3. Line markings are; straight, in the correct position and the right colour. 4. Any other untypical feature of the system
World Rugby Amendments to the manual
World Rugby Amendments to the manual Laboratory Tolerances Tightened Laboratory Updates Technical Updates Requirements for shock absorption, energy restitution, vertical deformation and rotational resistance have also been tightened. These changes will mean that some currently compliant products may no longer meet the requirements.

Following the maintenance practices as issued by the manufacturer/preferred Turf Producer/installer forms a fundamental part of the care of an artificial turf pitch. Procedures and equipment are prescribed by the manufacturers of the artificial turf system. The manufacturer/world Rugby Preferred Turf Producer s guidance document will contain specific instructions on how to maintain a pitch and what type of equipment to use
World Rugby Amendments to the manual World Rugby Online FAQ s As an example Usage hours This depends entirely on maintenance but you can get 40 hours minimum use on these surfaces per week should your maintenance be done to the required standards as recommended by the manufacturer.

ONE TURF What is it? The One Turf concept, has come about as a result of collaboration with seven other sporting federations all of which understand the long term benefits of creating a set of criteria for artificial turf for use across the community level of each sport. Installing a One Turf compliant pitch means that clubs can play multiple sports on one field, resulting in the potential for increased membership, participation and revenue to cover ongoing costs and future refurbishment of these facilities. A One Turf facility can also prove more appealing for local and national government funding Reference World Rugby Website
ONE TURF Who supports it? The following governing bodies are supporting a multi sport specification 1. World Rugby 2. FIFA (association football) 3. FIH (hockey) 4. RFIL(rugby league) 5. AFL (Australian football) & Cricket Australia 6. GAA (Irish hurling and football).
ONE TURF What progress has been made? MAY 2015 The final details of the updated One Turf requirements were circulated to federations, producers and test institutes for comment and were issued mid In addition, the federations will meet to decide on the most appropriate structure for the group being assembled to manage the introduction and administration of One Turf. While it is likely to be launched in principle, each federation will need to accept One Turf formally before it can be used as intended.
