Three rounds of games for each side made for a very busy opening night, however enthusiasm and sheer effort and no little skill displayed by the youngsters was a joy to behold. Cork lead the way with 3 wins from 3, 15 points, Dublin in hot pursuit on 12, Cork and Dublin play next week, whilst Galway, Kerry, Mayo are all on hot on their heels. Donegal are on 5 points but 1 win could change the whole outlook of the table and also the importance of garnering bonus points cannot be underestinated. A large crowd was entertained by some cracking football matches and nice sporting atmosphere was generated. Next Monday, 28th Sept sees the final 2 games which will decide who contests the 3 Finals the following week on Finals Day.

The standard of football was excellent from all sides and the tenacity shown by the youngsters was very uplifting to all. A large crowd turned up and cheered the lads on and some great blocking and point scoring was on display. Some close games were fought out and the many bonus points were taken up. The top 3 teams were separated by 1 point, Bonus Point decided who came first in the table, and Cork advanced to the "Paw Paw" Coyne Final to play Dublin due to their head to head win over Kerry, Galway and Kerry will contest the Dan Coleman Memorial Cup Final whilst Mayo Donegal will contest the Shield Final on Finals Day, Sunday, 4th Oct. So please come up and support the youngsters on their big day!! Thank you to all parents who came up and created a cracking atmosphere and to Alan Geary and Andrew Murphy who reffed the games last week and this week. 4 2015 Eochaill Óg U7 U8 Parish Football League FINALS DAY Sunday 4 th October Sunday 4 th October was a red letter day for Youghal s U7 s and U8 s footballers. A large crowd turned out to watch these young footballers showcase their skills on the big day. Each team had their photos taken, and were led onto the field by a piper, the crowd bought match day programmes, Amhran na bhfiann was impeccably observed and referee Jim Dingle Daly threw in the ball for all 3 finals. Each final was closely fought and the standard of football from all players was of a high degree. Credit to all the coaches at U7 and U8 levels for this. Medals and cups were presented to the winning and vanquished teams and special words of praise for the players were spoken by May Coleman and Pat Coyne as they presented their cups to the winning captains. Chairman, Alan Geary finished up proceedings by thanking all for their help these past few weeks and asked all to proceed to the clubhouse where refreshments were provided for players and parents/friends. A wonderful end to a wonderful tournament. Eochaill Óg abú.
