3 YOUGHAL GOLF CLUB 2018 DIARY & FIXTURES Dear Members, After the very long winter of 2017, we are delighted to present the 2018 calendar of competitions at Youghal Golf Club. We are confident that our competition calendar will provide you with many hours of enjoyment, both on and off the course. This year we have the honour of hosting both the ILGU Senior Foursomes and Jimmy Bruen Area Final. These, combined with our very strong list of competitions, will give you plenty of opportunities to test your skill on a course that is in great condition and provides a worthwhile challenge. We welcome all visitors to our club to play golf, enjoy the hospitality of our clubhouse and enjoy the spectacular views that our club has to offer. We are very proud of our reputation of a club that welcomes visitors into the friendly atmosphere that is Youghal Golf Club. With a dedicated mixed foursomes committee, we have regular competitions throughout the season. These are great social events where members and guests can enjoy a few hours golf followed by a great social evening. We are always looking for new members. Please use every opportunity to show your family and friends the wonderful facility that is Youghal Golf Club. The strength of our club is demonstrated daily by the number of volunteers who keep our club going. We are always looking for members to help us out in any way they can, no matter how small. 7 CONSIDERATION FOR OTHER PLAYERS COURTESY ON THE COURSE All golfers should make sure that they are ready to tee off at their allotted time. No player should play until the players in front are safely out of range. Players searching for a ball should signal the players behind them to pass as soon as it becomes apparent that the ball will not be easily found; they should not search for five minutes before doing so. They should continue to play once the players following have passed and are out of range. When a hole has been completed, players should immediately leave the putting green. Players should always leave their bags to the side of the green which is nearest to their next hole. BEHAVIOUR DURING PLAY No one should move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke. The player who has the honour should be allowed to play before his opponent or fellow competitor tees their ball. CARE OF THE COURSE HOLES IN BUNKERS Before leaving the bunker, a player should carefully fill up and smooth over the holes & footprints. Please use rakes provided and on leaving the bunker please place the rake outside of the bunker. REPLACE DIVOTS & REPAIR BALL MARKS Through the green, a player should ensure that any turf cut or displaced must be repaired at once and pressed or filled in by the divot repair sand provided. Any damage to the putting green made by the ball or the player should be carefully repaired as shown on the following page.

8 COURTESY ON THE COURSE GOLF CARTS Local notices regulating the movement of golf carts should be strictly observed. Golf Carts are not permitted near greens or on tee boxes at anytime time of year. DAMAGE TO GREENS - Flagsticks, Bags, etc Players should ensure that, when putting down bags, or flagsticks, no damage is done to the putting green and that neither they nor their caddies damage the hole by standing close to it, in handling the flagstick or in removing the ball from the hole. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before players leave the putting green. SLOW PLAY Simply.. GET ON WITH THE GAME but spare a moment to REPLACE/REPAIR YOUR DIVOT and REPAIR PITCH MARKS and remember - ONLY SOFT SPIKES PERMITTED Complaints should be made in writing, addressed to the Hon. Secretary

9 DRESS CODE - COURSE & CLUBHOUSE Smart casual dress is essential in the clubhouse. This is especially important for prizegiving. Casual dress worn on the course must be clean, neat & tidy. The following items of dress are unacceptable at all times: Singlets or collarless shirts Sports shorts (tailored shorts only may be worn) Football attire Tracksuits (Tops or Bottoms) are not acceptable Headgear should be removed when entering the clubhouse Golf Shoes only must be worn on the course Golf Shoes worn on the course are not acceptable in the clubhouse Use of mobile phones is prohibited on the course, except in the case of an emergency THESE RULES APPLY TO ALL MEMBERS & GUESTS
