Type designated by Swain1883 (see Kottelat 2004:11 [ref ]). Apparently not preoccupied by Diacantha Chevrolat, in Dejean, 1835 (nomen nudum) in Coleoptera. Spelled Hymenophysa by Bleeker :303 [ref. 366] and by Günther 1868:366 [ref. 1990] and authors; original spelling probably should be used; Bleeker's spelling is an incorrect subsequent spelling. Nalbant 2004:270 [ref ] regards Hymenophysa Bleeker as an available and valid name; but it seems clearly to be an incorrect subsequent spelling (WNE).
