Only one valid species mentioned by name, therefore type by monotypy (not Botia grandis as designated by Bleeker 1863:36 [ref. 400] and 1863:3 [ref. 4859]). Botia grandis appeared in Gray 14 Apr. 1832:Pl. 94 [ref. 1878]. Valid as Botia Gray, (Bănărescu & Nalbant 1968:341 [ref. 6554], Jayaram 1981:175 [ref. 6497], Sawada 1982:197 [ref ], Kottelat 1985:267 [ref ], Teugels et al. 1986:187 [ref. 6761], Kottelat 1989:13 [ref ], Roberts 1989:101 [ref. 6439], Ataur Rahman 1989:153 [ref ], Ye in Pan et al. 1991:247 [ref ], Yang & Chen 1992:341 [ref ], Menon 1992:31 [ref ], Taki & Doi 1995 [ref ], Doi 1997:26 [ref ], Chen & Zhang in Chen 1998:84 [ref ], Nalbant 2002:318 [ref ], Ataur Rahman 2003:173 [ref ], Kottelat 2004:11 [ref ], Ng 2007:41 [ref ], Grant 2007:8 [ref ], Kottelat 2012:14 [ref ], Kottelat 2013:173 [ref ]). Current status: Valid as Botia, Gray, Botiidae: Botiinae. (Diacantha) [ref. 4303]. Fem. Diacantha zebra Swainson, 1839 (= Cobitis geto Hamilton, 1822). Type by subsequent designation. As

12 Diacanthus on p Eschmeyer 1990:123 serves as first reviser. Swainson's Diacantha zebra is an unneeded name change for Cobitis geto Hamilton. Type designated by Swain1883 (see Kottelat 2004:11 [ref ]). Apparently not preoccupied by Diacantha Chevrolat, in Dejean, 1835 (nomen nudum) in Coleoptera. Synonym of Botia Gray (Kottelat 2004:11 [ref ], Grant 2007:8 [ref ], Kottelat 2012:14 [ref ], Kottelat 2013:173 [ref ]). Current status: Synonym of Botia Gray, Botiidae: Botiinae. (Hymenphysa) [ref. 2923]. Fem. Cobitis dario Hamilton, Type by subsequent designation. Earliest subsequent designation apparently by Jordan 1919:195 (see Kottelat 2004:12 [ref ]). Spelled Hymenophysa by Bleeker :303 [ref. 366] and by Günther 1868:366 [ref. 1990] and authors; original spelling probably should be used; Bleeker's spelling is an incorrect subsequent spelling. Nalbant 2004:270 [ref ] regards Hymenophysa Bleeker as an available and valid name; but it seems clearly to be an incorrect subsequent spelling (WNE). Synonym of Botia Gray, 1831, but a valid subgenus Hymenphysa -- (see Mirza et al. 1981:106 [ref. 5390]). Synonym of Botia Gray, (Roberts 1989:101 [ref. 6439], Kottelat 2004:11 [ref ], Nalbant 2004:270 [ref ], Grant 2007:8, 43 [ref ], Kottelat 2012:14 [ref ], Kottelat 2013:173 [ref ]).
