We got 2.4 inches of rainfall for April 2015. The water temperature is 68 F at the surface. Secchi is at 32 inches.

7 We got 2.4 inches of rainfall for April The water temperature is 68 F at the surface. Secchi is at 32 inches. I am fertilizing the lake regularly but in smaller doses than in years past. The lake is greening up nicely and the bluegill harvest reflects this.

Bass have finally finished up with their spawning and are beginning to return to more normal feeding behavior. Bass are hitting more top water baits and weightless flukes.

Shaky head jigs rigged with watermelon seed finesse worms and June bug curl tail worms are getting the best results. Many anglers are enjoying fishing for bass with small jigs. Small jigs will allow anglers to catch both bass and bluegill effectively

14 Madison Rodgers 3 pound, 17.5 inch bass RELEASED. This was Miss Madison s biggest bass ever. She said she was going to come back and catch a bigger one very soon.

16 NEW BASS HARVEST REGULATION EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2015 The new largemouth bass regulation shall read: Anglers may harvest any bass they catch at Lake LU, as long as the bass is less than 14 inches in total length. In addition, anglers may also harvest 1 fish greater than 22 inches in total length, a day at Lake LU. Please continue to encourage anglers to harvest small bass. ~ Jay Haffner

18 Warmer weather has the bream biting much better.

19 UWA students Mark Grant and Hannah McCurty had a nice bream fishing trip at the lake. Mark has shifted from bass to bream fishing during the bass spawn.

20 Through the years I have noticed a trend for more shell crackers in the fishery.

21 These color lures have been very productive for me on my fishing trips. Rig them with a 1/64 th ounce jig head and make sure that the hook is sharp!

25 Blue Flag iris at the Civic Center were very pretty this bright and sunny day.

27 Kyle Miller posing with a nice 7 pound bass that he caught at the lake in April. Kyle is an excellent bass angler, student and employee, and he will be missed at Lake LU. Kyle will be leaving Lake LU as the assistant manager to continue his education and he will be greatly missed. He thoroughly enjoyed working and fishing at the lake and the anglers will miss his professional advice. Best of luck in your future endeavors Kyle!
