1 2016 Sunset Bay Walleye Shootout Welcome Tournament Team, I would first off like to thank you for your past participation and your continued support of the Sunset Bay Walleye Shoot Out; for our new teams coming this year, we welcome you aboard. We are extremely excited to formally announce that the 2016 Sunset Bay Walleye Shoot Out will have an opportunity to offer over $100,000 up for grabs in cash and prizes. We are officially the highest paying walleye venue on all of the Great Lakes; right here in Sunset Bay, Western New York. We are extremely proud to have grown this event every year since its inception; the 2016 event is not only set to grow and improve again, but truly set new standards for professional walleye tournament fishing. 2 NEW FOR 2016 In addition to the following tournament package, I wanted to provide a summary of some additional highlights taking place within the 2016 tournament. PBO (POINT BLANK OUTDOORS) will again be filming the 2016 event for National Television. Their growth within the fishing/hunting show industry is extremely impressive. We are proud to have them onboard as our official film crew. The show will be on WFN World Fishing Network. SKYtography will be returning this year for some of the most unique venue coverage possible, flying their high performance drone and providing video and HD photographs not only for national television but for your personal picture interests. Skytography will have them available to any team interested in obtaining an HD picture or video of your boat while fishing the tournament. Check them out at Our prize packs were expanded from 5 to 8 for the 2015 event, we are very excited to have expanded this to 12 for the 2016 venue. Each prize pack is worth $ or more. These will be given out, via team lottery/drawing at the Captain's meeting. Boat Inspection Process For 2016, we will have dedicated boat inspection docks; identified with tall, RED Flags for boats reporting from other marinas, cottage dockage or launch facilities. We have additional volunteers this year and will again begin inspections at 5:30am There will be a complimentary Ice-Chest full of bottled water, pop, juice and ice tea for you at the Fish Cooler / Puck Return check in table compliments of Lakeshore Hardware and Tool Rental We will be providing a return shuttle for your coolers back to the marina for your convenience after the weigh in is complete. There will be a fish donation location for anyone interested in donating. This will be for Saturday event only. Beach venue We have been able to expand the beach venue once again to provide more convenience and enjoyment for you and your team. This year, beer/beverages will be allowed on the beach for the weigh in show. There will also be a cold beer trough on the beach for convenient beer sales. Audience viewing With our spectator audience also growing each year, we are pleased to announce we are bringing in bleachers on the beach for better viewing of the show and visibility of the teams and their fish. Innovative Outdoors will be returning with their state of the art Weigh-In scale system, the LIVE LED Leader-Board will be elevated for easy viewing and displaying of the team rankings. 2 P a g e S U N S E T B A Y W A L L E Y E S H O O T O U T

3 NEW FOR 2016 (CON'T) The Sunset Deli will be open at 5:00am that Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning. They will have ample ice and other supplies that you may require. As per several requests, we are also accepting payment for the 2016 event beginning October 15 th, 2015 with the arrival of this tournament package. A pre-address envelope (8422 Versailles Plank Road, Angola, NY 14006) is enclosed with registration form for your convenience. All payments are to be in US Funds. Checks can be made payable to Don Ruppert. Please be sure to include you completed registration form. For Teams paid by December 31 st, 2015; you will be eligible for our early bird drawing held on January 1 st, The lottery drawn team will receive an OKUMA Dead-Eye Walleye Rod Package of (4) four DE- C-861M-T model rods. 5 "BIG FISH FRIDAY" INFORMATION Big Fish Friday (BFF) will be held on Friday, July 22, Fishing time begins at 6:00am. You can depart any port or marina at anytime, however lines cannot be entered in the water until 6:00am. You must be in the Official Cooler Line by 3:30 pm Sharp!, located on the beach at Cabana Sam s. Your team is responsible for bringing your cooler/fish to the Cooler Line. Only one (1) fish shall be presented in the cooler, no other walleyes or species allowed in cooler. No loose ice or water baths allowed in cooler, bagged or block ice is acceptable. A maximum of nine (9) rods can be used at anytime. All waters of Lake Erie and upper Niagara River are legal fishing waters, including Canadian waters. All state and Federal Laws apply. All Fish weighed for Big Fish Friday will be gill clipped. The Top three (3) walleyes will be paid. Largest walleye along with cash payment will receive a BFF Trophy. All BFF cash prizes and trophy will be paid at the Captain's meeting that Friday. 6 CAPTAIN'S MEETING INFORMATION Tournament/Team registration starts at 5:30pm on Friday, July 22 nd, 2016 The Captain's meeting is mandatory and begins at 7:00pm Sharp! It is mandatory that at least one member of each team has registered and is in attendance for the Captain's meeting. Failure to register for the Tournament/Captain's meeting will result in a two (2) hour delay in departure for fishing of the main event. Your team's start time will be 9:00am. We will again be giving away our expanded twelve (12) Prize-Packs at the end of the Captain's meeting. A team member must be present to win. Each Prize-Pack is valued at over $ or more in fishing products. EXPANDED CALCUTTA OPTIONS We are pleased to expand on the Calcutta options available for each team. In addition to our three (3) main calcuttas, we are now adding a BIG EYE Calcutta. It will be a $ entry and like the three big box calcuttas, will pay out the top three spots. 7 SUNSET BAY / MARINA INFORMATION MAP Sunset Bay Marina Allegany Road, Irving, New York Cabana Sam's 1028 S. Shore Drive, Irving, New York Sunset Bay is well known for its Florida Keys style and atmosphere. There are no hotels in Sunset Bay, however; there is an enormous amount of cottage rentals available within the bay. Everything is in walking distance - Cabana Sam s Bar and Grill, Sunset Bay Beach Club, the Sportsman Bar, the Sunset Bay Marina, The Sunset Deli (food, beer, ice, snacks) Millers Bait & Tackle, Hidden Harbor (mechanic, parts, supplies and fuel). There are hotels and motels nearby (short drive). Additionally, Tim Horton's, Burger King, McDonald, True Value Hardware, Sunset Bay Restaurant, The Colony Restaurant are within 2-3 minutes of the bay. 10 2016 OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS (Save for Team/Boat reference) 1.) Fishing hours will be from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Saturday July 23 rd, 2016 (Foul weather date will be Sunday, July 26 th, same fishing hours) *Should the weekend be a total loss, deemed unfishable, the payouts will be by lottery draw for both Main event, largest walleye and calcuttas. This will be done at 12:30 pm on Sunday, if required at Cabana Sam s 2.) There will be a shot-gun start from the Bay of Sunset, 300 yards West of the pier head. There will be starting/location device or boat (to be announced at the Captain's meeting). The shot-gun start will be specifically 7:00 am sharp. If you depart prior than our official shot gun start at 7:00am, you will be immediately disqualified. 3.) ALL waters of Lake Erie and the Niagara River are legal fishable tournament waters, this includes Canadian waters. 4.) Each boat will utilize a maximum of up to nine (9) rod/reels per boat - total. All other USA and Canadian laws apply. 5.) Boats may have from two (2) to (5) anglers per boat. 6.) Two Team # signs will be provided (port and starboard); it is the team Captain responsibility to clearly post them visible to other tournament officials and tournament boats. If these numbers are not visibly displayed, you will not be identifiable therefore disqualified from the competition. 7.) Each Team will present up to six (6) walleyes in their box. The largest being identified with the ZIP-TIE provided. The only species allowed in the box are walleyes. Any more than six walleyes or any other species in the box will immediately disqualify the box and the team for the event. All culling is to be completed prior to entering the cooler check in station The fish will be presented in a cooler with bagged or blocked ice only. No loose ice or water baths allowed. 8.) The walleyes presented must be a minimum of 20 from nose to tail; any fish short of 20 will be removed from that boxes total weight; the remaining limit can be weighed without penalty. An official tournament measuring board will be on stage to measure any questionable short fish. 9.) The Team puck will be issued upon completion of the morning boat check. EVERY boat will be checked prior to departure at the Sunset Bay Marina (Hosting Tournament Marina). If you depart without your puck, you will not be able to weigh your fish. 10.) The Team puck is returned to the cooler check in station at the marina when you drop off your fish cooler with tournament officials. 11.) Boat Checks will be provided, beginning at 5:30am, NO boat/team can depart the docks or launch prior to having boat checks completed and team puck in hand. 11 2016 OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS (CON'T) 12.) Tournament boats cannot make contact with each other at any point or time once your boat check is complete. No boat is allowed to float or pass equipment, fish, bait, ice, coolers, food or drink between them; at any point throughout the day after boat check. This includes leaving the Cattaruguas Creek, on the lake during traveling or fishing, or returning back up the Cattaruguas Creek. Any noted or witnessed contact between boats will result in an immediate disqualification for any/all boats involved. 13.) There is NO-stop fishing time, HOWEVER, your boat must return past the pier head check point NO LATER than 3:30 PM Sharp! (NO EXCEPTIONS). Tournament officials will be documenting each team/boat time of return at the pier heads. 14.) You official tournament boat numbers must visible on both port and starboard sides of your boat. Unidentified boats will not be recorded as an on-time return, therefore resulting in a disqualification. 15.) All slip fees, launch fees, lodging fees and all other associated fees are the responsibility of each team. 16.) Liability/Rules/Tax waiver must be signed by all participating anglers. If you choose to participate in Big Fish Friday, your waiver must be turned in by Thursday, July 21, If you are only fishing the main event, it must be handed in at registration before the Captain's meeting. 17.) The tournament IS AN OPEN communication event. 18.) As the event will have a professional stage/weigh in show and it is to be professionally filmed, it is mandatory that each team will be properly dressed. Ideally team t-shirts or jerseys are the best choice; as they look professional and show well for pictures and videos. This is valid for both Big Fish Friday and Main Event Saturday. No Ripped, bloody t-shirts, tank-tops or cut off sweat pants are allowed. No smoking is allowed on stage. No profanity, unsportsmanlike conduct, actions or deliberate vulgarity will be allowed on stage, this will result in immediate disqualification. 19.) Tournament team registration begins at 5:30pm on Friday, July 22 nd at the entrance of Cabana Sam s. Welcome bags and additional tournament information will be presented at that time. 20.) Captain's Meeting (Mandatory) - At least one member of each team must be registered/present for the Captain's meeting on Friday, July 22 nd, Captain's meeting starts at 7:00 pm sharp; registration begins at 5:30pm. Teams not present for Captain's meeting will be penalized 2 hours for departure for the day of fishing (9:00 am departure time will be enforced). 21.) Big Fish Friday - Big Fish Friday (BFF) is not part of the payout structure or a requirement of the main event. Our tournament scales will be utilized for weighing of the fish for this portion of the event. All rules are individual of the Big Fish Friday portion of the fishing. It is each participating team s responsibility to know, understand and abide by the rules that apply for Big Fish Friday if they so choose to fish this portion. Please reference the Big Fish Friday information sheet within the tournament package provided. 22.) * Polygraph testing WILL BE utilized and implemented for winning teams within various portions of the tournament payout structure. Any abuse, verbal or otherwise directed towards the tournament committee members, its volunteers or supporting staff, will result in immediate disqualification, NO Exceptions. 24.) Any/All, New York State and Federal income taxes forthcoming of payouts received from the Sunset Bay Walleye Shoot Out are the sole responsibility of the recipient team and teammates. Sunset Bay tournament personnel, sponsors and volunteers are not liable or responsible for any taxes due for any groups, persons or teams receiving income from our event. 25.) All Cash payouts are based on a fully registered and paid fleet of 85 boats. 26.) Protest /Challenge Submittals - In the event a team wishes to enter a protest to formally challenge a competitor conflict, a formal document will be available for submittal. This form, in addition to a charge of $ will be presented to Tournament Officials. Submittals must be made no later than 30 minutes after the weighing in of the last team on the day of the event. Should the challenge be awarded in favor to the protest submitting team, the $ fee will be refunded to the challenging team. Should the challenge be invalid, the $ fee will be forfeited. 27.) The Sunset Bay Walleye Shootout is a participating member of both the King Of The Lake Series and the Top Gun Professional Walleye Series and allows for our scores to be utilized within the series format. Our rules/regulations are specific to the Sunset Bay Walleye Shoot Out only. All rules/regulations/costs/payments/ winnings and liabilities of the Top Gun Series and/or the King Of The Lake Series are specific to those outlined by their committee and organizers. The Sunset Bay Walleye Shootout is not liable or accountable for any/all decisions made within final judgments of either series. 28.) The Sunset Bay Walleye Shoot Out maintains zero tolerance of cheating or misconduct within ANY tournament venue anywhere throughout the USA or Canada. The Sunset Bay Walleye Shootout will prohibit participation of any captain or team member(s) found/documented as cheating within ANY tournament event. 29.) Weather CALL - In the event we have unfavorable weather conditions for the event, the following process will be followed for both Big Fish Friday and Main Event Saturday. Big Fish Friday a.) If there is a Small-Craft Warning posted prior to opening fishing hours (6:00) for Big Fish Friday, the Big Fish portion of the event will be cancelled. The monies/prizes will be determined via lottery draw for all teams entered into this section of the weekend. b.) If weather is rough or unfavorable conditions are present, but no Small-Craft Warning has been posted, Big Fish Friday will be considered OPEN and fishable. It is the team captain's responsibility to make the judgment/decision if he feels his team/vessel can safely fish the conditions. c.) In the event, a Small-Craft Warning is posted once fishing hours have started (past 6:00am), fishing will be considered OPEN and fishable. If there is a Small-Craft Warning posted prior to opening fishing hours (7:00am) for the Main Event Saturday, the day will be considered officially cancelled and the fleet will prepare for Sunday as the make-up blow day. b.) Should Sunday be utilized as the tournament main event day, all rules, times and processes will apply as Saturday. c.) In the event the weather is rough or unfavorable conditions, but no Small-Craft Warnings are posted; the Main Event will be considered OPEN and fishable. It is the team captain's responsibility to make the judgment/decision if he feels his team/vessel can safely fish the conditions. d.) In the event, a Small-Craft Warning is posted once fishing hours have started (past 7:00am), fishing will be considered OPEN and fishable; It is the team captain's responsibility to make the judgment/decision if he feels his team/vessel can safely fish the conditions. Monitor and use VHF Channel 16 for safety and emergency information, monitor VHF Channel 68 for Tournament updates and information. The rules are presented to be clear, understood by teams captain/team members and provide an even playing field for each team.
