3 INTRODUCTION The plane leaves for Rhode Island in 1 minute. You better hurry! Today you will be reading all about Rhode Island, that's if you decide to do so. My state is so interesting because the person who founded my state Capitol named his daughter after it. Roger Williams named his daughter Providence. Providence is of course the state Capitol. It is also the biggest city in Rhode Island. If you do not decide to read on your missing out on a lot of things. Also my state is so interesting because it will show you things you have never heard nor seen before. For example, quahogs. Do you know what they are? Well I guess you will have to read more to find out. To be honest my state is very small. The population is only 1,053,567. I know it sounds big but it's really not. There is still so much to learn about Rhode Island. It is so peaceful there. It is so beautiful. It's a great place for a vacation! Pack your bags your going on a rode trip! 4 PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS This paragraph is all about physical characteristics. If you don't know what that means it means the oceans, lands rivers, lakes, parks, beaches. It is mainly land in your state.rhode Island has many parks, beaches and rivers. Some of my parks are Fort Adams State Park, Dawley Park, and last but not least Brenton Point Park. These parks are almost all state parks. State parks are something that our state c says its a good place. Lots of people visit these parks. They also visit the beaches a lot too! One of the state beaches are Salty Brine State Beach. The name is kind of funny to! Now it's time to talk about the borders! My bordering bodies of waters are Alantic ocean, Narragansett Bay,

5 and last but not least Rhode Island Sound. There is a island almost the same. It is the Block Island Sound. If you don't know what sound means it means a ocean or sea inlet. Basically when the river comes in. Since we're talking about water here are some rivers and lakes. There is Sakonnet River. It is a major river. And one the major lake is Scituate Lake. There names are kind of weird. The last thing to wrap up this paragraph is the highest point. The highest point is Jerimoth Hill. It is 812 feet tall (247m) above sea level. 8 Symbols and emblems This paragraph is going to tell you all about the symbols and emblems of my state Rhode Island. Symbols and emblems! My state Rhode Island is fascinating. Did you know the capitol is Providence? Also the founder of the Capitol is Roger William! He was so happy that he even named his kid after the Capitol! Now this may sound weird. My state drink Is coffee milk. If you don't know what that is I am about to tell you. Coffee milk is just sweetened coffee added into milk. Next is my state flower. I like this flower a lot it is really pretty. It is a violet. Also my state bird is a Rhode Island Red chicken.

9 Maybe I'm exaggerating but I think my state has the least counties. I only have 5. Just like the Capitol it is also my largest city! PROVIDENCE! My state motto is hope to! I guess they use a lot of peace signs. My state nicknames are "Little Rhody" and "The Ocean State." I wonder where they got little Rhody from. 12 State history This paragraph is going to about the history of Rhode Island! There are a lot of cool facts. STATE HISTORY! Did you know in 1636 Roger William arrives Rhode Island and found Providence? Well what's now called Rhode Island. Also Roger Williams is very excited for what's coming up. In 1644 England gave Roger.W. a charter for Rhode Island! I bet you didn't know that! Roger Williams was also famous for founding Providence in Rhode Island! Now in 1843 the state adopts a new constitution! But it was after Dorr rebellion in Did you know that? Now this is where it gets

13 scary, well for the people in Rhode Island in In 1938 a hurricane hit Rhode Island. It killed over 250 people. It also destroyed millions of dollars worth of property. 14 Dear Grandma Logan, In 1636 I was very excited. I didn't know that this would happen. I found Providence! In what's now called Rhode Island! After I found Providence I started a colony called Providence Plantations. It provided a refuge religious minorities. I started the first baptist church in America. Logan, I really do miss you! I can't wait to see you in person but wait there's more! I want to tell you more because we are probably not going to see each other for a long time since you live in Alabama and I live in what's now called Rhode Island Providence. Since you missed out on a lot of things I will tell you about your grand children. You have 6 of them. Mercy, Danielle, Providence, Mary, Freeborn, and Joseph. They are the most beautiful kids you will ever meet. Not meaning to brag. I hope one day you get to spend some time with them though! I love you so, so, so, so much! It's a little clam ake. It is a unique Rhode Island ish or appetizer. Now this is going be all about the mining. Did you now they go mining for gravel nd sand? Well now you do. It ounds a little weird. It kind of ounds like sand is not seen very uch in Rhode Island since the ame is Rhode Island. 20 Famous people This is going to be about Ruth Ann Buzzi in Rhode Island. What's interesting is one of the people you will be reading about my parents love her. Ruth Ann Buzzi (1936-) Ruth Ann Buzzi is an actor and comedian. She used to live in New York but she moved to Los Angeles. My parents said she was a very funny Pearson. She lives with her husband Kent Perkins. Her hobby is oil painting. She supports numerous children charities such as Make A Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, and last but not least Big Brother Big Sisters Of America.

21 In 2002 she was inducted in Rhode islands hall of fame. She won an award five times in a row one time. Buzzi also got a Cilo Award for the best spokesperson in her commercial show called Clorox 2. Ruth Ann Buzzis career took off quick. Ruth's first national recognition on television came on the Garry Moore Show just after Carol Burnett was replaced by Dorthy Loudon. 24 Famous places This paragraph is all about the famous places you can visit it is so cool! Especially if you like swimming before you know it you will be jumping right into the water in Rhode Island! First off, we have 4 state beaches! East Matunuck beach. The mainland stretches to the town of Narragansett baythe name sounds a little funny but it's a beach! Before I go to far imagine the horizon, the sun, the perfect water, sand, waves, and last but not least swimming. You could have so much fun at the beach. Not just any beach. Rhode Islands beach.

25 Now here's the second one. Misquamicut beach. The name is a little hard to say though. I have trouble saying it myself. It was created in After a hurricane in Next we have Salty Brine State Beach. The name sounds salty. Does it? It is located in a village called Galilie. Last but not least we have Roger W. Wheeler beach. It is very popular. Don't worry there is no sharks. You won't get eaten. I hope you go to one of these beaches! These beaches are all in the south county. All the beaches almost have there own town. For example, Rhode Islands Riverwalk
