We have been enjoying this beautiful summer with many events ~ Music in the Park, Pie & Ice Cream Social, pontoon rides with fishing, Stearns County Fair, to name a few. We are ready to embrace the last full month of summer. Please check out the August calendar enclosed and come join us. As many of you know, Becky Kern, our Dietary Manager, has decided to move on. We thank Becky for her years of service here at Fairway Pines. Todd Westerbeck has joined our team as the new Dietary Manager. Todd loves to cook and comes with lots of experience. The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue. He is rich who is satisfied with life. Time is like money; the less we have of it the further we make it go. YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN A HOT PLACE WHEN You discover that it takes only two fingers to drive your car. You can make sun tea instantly. You learn that a seatbelt makes a pretty good branding iron. You notice that the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance. You can actually burn your hand opening the car door. Hot air balloons can t go up.

2 Rachel Lanigan RN Rachel lives near Villard with her husband, Jesse, on a large dairy farm. Some of her hobbies and favorite past times are fishing, snowmobiling, shopping and anything outdoors. 3 Trix was born and raised in Sauk Centre and has one brother and one sister. Trix married Ollie Kleinschmidt and they made their home in Sauk Centre and were blessed with six children; four boys and two girls. Two children have passed away and Ollie passed away in She currently has eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Trix was a homemaker and worked for a short time at Main Street Theatre and Red Owl. She then began the next 23 years working for Vocational Biographies. Some of Trix s favorite past times and hobbies are knitting, swimming, playing golf and bridge. Please help us welcome Trix to Fairway Pines!

6 Returning from a trip to visit my grandmother in Canada, I was stopped by a state trooper in New York for exceeding the speed limit. Grateful to have received a warning instead of a ticket, I gave him a small bag of my grandmother s delicious chocolate chip cookies and proceeded on my way. Later, I was stopped by another trooper. What have I done? I asked. Nothing, the trooper said smiling. I heard you were passing out great chocolate chip cookies.

7 20-oz. can crushed pineapple, undrained 3.4-oz pkg. instant vanilla pudding 1 cup whipped topping, thawed Angel food cake or 12 dessert shells Strawberries, blueberries, and/or raspberries To make the filling, mix pineapple with the juice and dry pudding mix in a bowl. Stir in the whipped topping Cut up the angel food cake into cubes. Layer cake cubes, Angel Dream Filling, and berries in 12 dessert glasses.
