THE IDEALS OF MEMBERSHIP The enjoyment of Golf depends a great deal on the co-operation consideration and courtesy extended by fellow competitors. What is true of the game also applies to Club Membership. The spirit and image of a Golf Club is projected by the way fellow members show respect, courtesy and consideration for one another. Golf relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players. This courtesy and consideration should extend to the choice of dress generally, in the standard of conduct on the course and in the Clubhouse. The standards of a Golf Club may be judged by the etiquette of its members. Members are asked to give close attention to: THE RULES OF GOLF 1. The Etiquette of the game 2. Your speed of play i.e., your position in the field relative to the group you are following 3. The Local Rules 4. The Regulations governing conditions of play/competition. 5. The Regulations governing motorised transport. You will thereby avoid penalties, promote harmony and make the game pleasant for all. CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB FIXTURES GUIDE

DRESS STANDARDS Club dress regulations have been developed by our Board to achieve a satisfactory club standard. Members and their guests not correctly attired will be asked to leave the course or clubhouse. Regulations regarding dress code are displayed in the clubhouse and golf shop. NOTE: 1. Persons not complying will not be permitted on the course or in the clubhouse. 2. Caddies and persons accompanying members must adhere to dress regulation s, members are responsible for the dress and conduct of their guest. CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB FIXTURES GUIDE

ETIQUETTE OF GOLF 1. Players should at all times be ready to play without delay. 2. No person should move, speak or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when the player is addressing the ball or making a stroke. 3. Players searching for a ball must signal following players to pass through immediately it becomes apparent the ball is lost not search for three minutes before doing so. Players must not continue until those following have passed through and are out of range. 4. A group failing to keep its place in the field and losing more than one clear hole on the players ahead must allow the following group to pass and failing this courtesy, the group following should request and has the right to expect, that they will be allowed to play through. A group losing one clear hole may incur a two stroke penalty per player, pair or group, depending on the event. 5. Players are required to carry and use sand buckets at all times. 6. All Bunker rakes are to be placed outside the bunker away from the normal line-of- play where practicable. Rakes are to be placed with the handle parallel to the direction of play and on grass that is not cut to fairway length wherever possible. Players must carefully fill in divots, smooth footprints and leave the bunker as they expect to find it. CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB FIXTURES GUIDE

7. Do not walk on the face when entering or leaving bunkers. 8. Buggies and bags should be left at the side or behind, but not in front, of the green. 9. Golf carts must comply with regulations. 10. When play of the hole has been completed and any damage to the green repaired, players must immediately leave the area from the rear or the side of the putting green. 11. Players are not to hit up to greens until the area has been cleared. 12. The playing of a second ball is permitted in a practice round provided there are not more than two players in the group. 13. Players will not use profane or abusive language, throw or break their clubs, willfully damage the course in any way, criticise the course, the competition or club officials. 14. Members, guests and visitors are required to report to the Golf Shop prior to using any golfing facilities. 15. Further points of etiquette are referred to in Section 1 of Rules of Golf PACE OF PLAY GUIDELINES AS DETERMINED BY THE GOLF OPERATIONS COMMITTEE CLUB CATALINA PACE of PLAY All players must maintain their place in the field, which is immediately behind the group in front and not ahead of the group behind. Should your group fall a clear hole behind and it is delaying the group behind please invite the group behind to play through. CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB FIXTURES GUIDE

Any group with a clear hole in front of it, is out of position. When your group is behind its correct position in the field, then the first two players to putt out must proceed to the next tee and commence hitting. If you hit a ball that you think may be hard to find, or it may be out of bounds, please hit a provisional ball. No more than three minutes is allowed to search for a ball. ON THE TEE Hit first, mark your card second, shorter hitters play first. ON THE FAIRWAY Go to your ball and get ready to hit your next shot as soon as it is feasible; i.e. not impeding another player s shot or endangering yourself. Don t always wait for your partner to play before going to your ball, play ready golf. WALK BRISKLY BETWEEN SHOTS. Cart users should be particularly aware of the extra time taken in sharing a cart and look for ways to speed up play, for example; move ahead of walkers to look for possibly lost balls. ON THE GREEN When you reach the green, move to your ball and repair any pitch marks. Where possible, line up your putt prior to your turn to putt. If your ball needs to be marked, do it as quickly as you can. Anticipate the requirements of your fellow player. Move back and line up your putt whilst other players are putting. CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB FIXTURES GUIDE

Except in match play, and where you will stand on someone else s line, when you start putting, continue until you have holed out. If playing a par or stableford event and you can no longer score on that hole, pick up your ball and let others continue. All members should be proactive in addressing the slow play problem. This is a group responsibility as well as an individual one. Your entire group can be penalised for slow play (Rule 6-7). MARKING CARDS Cards should be marked as quickly as possible after completing the hole, but it is best to mark the cards at the next tee. Please mark your card when it is not your turn to play. Golf relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players. REMEMBER, AT ALL TIMES YOUR PLACE IN THE FIELD IS IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE GROUP IN FRONT AND NOT IN FRONT OF THE GROUP BEHIND. CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB FIXTURES GUIDE

The annual fee for Cadets includes Golf Australia insurance cover and is available from reception after 4 weeks on the Cadet Program. Cadets are only eligible for social play and must be accompanied by an adult who is a playing member. Qualifications for Catalina Cadets: A. Passed 8th Birthday (JC s Discretion). B. CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB FIXTURES GUIDE

NEW CADETS: New Cadets will work on the range with the Golf Professional for 4 weeks. If the Professional is satisfied that the new Cadet is both capable and mature enough to enter the program, the Cadet must complete the application form and pay the required fee. Those that are not considered ready will be asked to return at a later time. ADVANCED CADETS: Selected Cadets who have progressed to a certain level will become Advanced Cadets. They will play holes each week, be issued a Cadet handicap and work towards becoming a Junior member. There will be greater emphasis on Golf Rules, etiquette and scoring their cards correctly. ADVANCED CADET HANDICAPS: Cadets play off the Yellow tees. When handicaps reduce to 15 for boys, 18 for girls, Cadets play off the Blue tees (boys) and Red tees (girls). When a Cadet reduces their handicap to 12 (boys) and 15 (girls) they will be considered for promotion to a Junior. A Rules test must now be completed. Three 18 hole rounds played from the Blue tees (boys) and Red Tees (girls), accompanied by a Cadet Master or an approved Full Playing Member must be completed. When approved by the Board the Cadet will become a Junior Member and be issued a new Membership card. CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB FIXTURES GUIDE

A membership card will be issued. ATTENDANCE: If a Cadet is unable to attend, the Pro Shop must be notified on This courtesy is important as we rely on Volunteers to run the program and knowing the attendance each week is essential. If a Cadet is missing without notice their place in the Cadet Program may be forfeited. If you have any questions please contact either Junior Co-ordinator, Margaret Dickinson ( or ) or Assistant Co-ordinator Don Wallace ( ) ADULT MEMBERSHIPS: Other than entry through the cadet/junior stream, members are approved by the Board of Directors for persons who have been nominated and seconded by two golfing members. RESPONSIBILITY FOR NEW MEMBERS It is the responsibility of Proposer and Seconder immediately a Nominee is elected to membership, to ensure that such new member is (i) introduced to the President, Captain and other members; (ii) above all, is sufficiently advanced in the knowledge of the Rules of Golf to be competent to perform the duty of marker to a fellow competitor. Please see that you play with your Nominee until he or she is so equipped. CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB FIXTURES GUIDE

AUSTRALIAN HANDICAP SYSTEM Calculation of handicap is done by averaging the best 8 of your last 20 individual rounds played. The figure obtained is then multiplied by a factor of 0.93 to determine your exact handicap. If your playing record does not exceed to 20 rounds, there is a sliding scale to determine the number of rounds that are averaged to calculate your handicap. If you have more than 20 rounds on your record the 20th round back will always drop off your record whenever you play a new round irrespective of whether the round dropping off the record was a good or bad score. You can check your current handicap status by going to the club website- go to your home and then Check Handicap-the Golf Link page opened will show you which rounds are being used to calculate your handicap. Your current 8 best rounds will be marked with an orange flag. New players seeking a handicap need to submit 3 cards. The best card of these will be used (after adjustment) to determine the players initial handicap. All golf courses have been allocated a Slope Rating (a measure of the course difficulty). All players have a calculated handicap index - that index will translate into a different playing handicap according to the difficulty of the course that you are playing. Each course combination at Catalina has individual slope ratings. CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB FIXTURES GUIDE
