Appendix B Count Back Procedure In the event of a tie for any of the placing s in stroke play competitions, the count back system will be used to ascertain the player s positions. 18 Hole Competition The players will be placed in order of the best back 9 holes. Should the players concerned have the same score on the back 9 holes then it will be decided on the back 6, 3, 2 and 1 hole respectively until the player s scores differ. Should this fail to sort the players then the front nine holes will be used as above until the placing s are determined. For all competitions, holes will be used for count back, regardless of the starting hole. 36 Hole Competition The winner will be decided by a play-off over holes inclusive. If any of the players in the play-off return the same net score after the three holes, then they will play sudden death on the 18th until a winner is decided. The same rule will apply to the scratch players, but obviously, the gross score will apply. NOTE: In competitions where the player s handicap is used to calculate scores, then the appropriate strokes will be awarded to each player

Appendix C Handicap Administration Policy The handicap policy at Overstone Park Golf Club is a true and fair one. Members can help to maintain this by returning qualifying scorecards in accordance with the rules. HANDICAP PROCEDURE To enter competitions, a player must have a recognised competition handicap. To achieve this the player must return 3 cards marked and signed by a player with a recognised competition handicap. The player shall play from the yellow tees (red tees for Ladies) and on returning the third card, will be awarded a handicap in accordance with his/her current ability. All three cards should be marked New Handicap Card and posted in the box in the bar near to the computer. No player will be permitted to enter any competition without a bona-fide handicap. INTERNAL QUALIFYING EVENTS All White Tee Medal Events All White Tee Stableford Events All Yellow Tee Stablefords All Mid-Week Medals For any event to be a qualifying competition it must have been organised by Overstone Park Golf Club Competitions Committee. HANDICAP ALLOWANCES All qualifying events - as specified by the relevant competition. HANDICAP ADJUSTMENTS - QUALIFYING EVENTS When players fail to play to their handicap and their net score is above the appropriate buffer zone as indicated below, the players handicap will be increased by 0.1 stroke. When players play below the competition standard scratch score their handicap will be reduced by the appropriate number of strokes as indicated below. Category Handicap group Buffer zone Per shot under CSS shots above CSS " " " " " " " " " 0.1 ANNUAL REVIEW When deciding whether to effect a general play adjustment the following shall be considered:

The frequency of qualifying scores to and below the playing handicap. (Category 2 players cannot move into category 1 on general play.) YOUR handicap is YOUR sole responsibility. All queries concerning handicaps must be referred only to the Handicap Secretary. The committee reserve the right to alter the above guidelines at their discretion and without notice.

Appendix D Qualifying Competitions The following competitions are qualifying competitions for handicapping purposes: All Medal Events All White Tee Stablefords All Yellow Tee Stablefords Scratch Club Championship Handicap Club Championship Handicaps will be adjusted in accordance with the CONGU Handicapping Scheme. Abandoned Qualifying Competitions If a qualifying competition is abandoned, the Competition Scratch Score shall be the Standard Scratch Score, and players returning Net differentials below zero will have their handicaps reduced in line with the Standard Scratch and Handicapping Scheme effective 1 st January A net differential of zero or above in these circumstances will not result in a handicap increase.

Appendix E Format of Play Medal A stoke play game over a specified number of holes (usually 18). Each player must hole out at every hole. The total number of shots over the round is added together to give a gross score. The net score is derived by taking the players playing handicap from the gross score. Stableford A stroke play event where points are awarded on against the players net score on each hole, the point being awarded as follows: Net score more than one over par for the hole - 0 points Net score one over par for the hole - 1 point Net score equal to par for the hole - 2 points Net score one below for the hole - 3 points Net score two below par for the hole - 4 points And so on When a player is unable to score any points on a particular hole, they may pick up their ball without penalty and proceed to the next hole. The golf club encourages this practice in these types of event to assist in the overall speed of play. Match Play - Singles Two players compete against each other over a stipulated number of holes (normally 18). The player who holes their ball in the fewest strokes wins the hole. In a handicap match the lower net score wins the hole. The reckoning of holes is kept by the terms: so many "holes up", "holes down" or all square. The player who wins the greatest number of holes will be the winner or, if a player is more holes up than there is left to play that player is the winner. In a handicap match play competition, the shots received by the higher handicap player is the difference between the higher handicap player and the lower player multiplied by the allowance for the competition, with part shot of 0.5 and above being rounded up, and part shots below 0.5 being rounded down. E.G. handicap of 24 playing handicap of 8 with full allowance = 24-8 =16 x 1 = 16 shots received. E.G. handicap of 19 playing handicap of 8 with ¾ allowance = 19-8 =11 x ¾ = 8.25 = 8 shots received. Match Play - Four Ball Better Ball As above but two players compete as a team against another two players. All players play each hole using their own ball. A hole is won when one team member has fewer net strokes than any of the two players competing against his team. In a handicap match play competition, the shots received by each of the higher handicap player is the difference between each higher handicap player and the lower player multiplied by the allowance for the competition, with part shot of 0.5 and above being rounded up, and part shots below 0.5 being rounded down. Foursomes A game where two players use one ball and play alternate shots. They must also take alternate drives, one team player teeing off from the odd numbered holes, and the other partner teeing off from the even numbered holes. This format can be used for match play and stroke play events. Greensomes A game where two players play as a team. On each hole, they both drive. They then select the best drive and continue play with this ball only. They will play alternate shots from here on in until the hole is completed. The player whose ball was picked up must play the second shot. This format can be used for match play and stroke play events.

Texas Scramble - (see also appendix H) Normally a team of three or four players play together. Each player will drive. The team will select the best drive. All players will then play a second shot from the position of the best drive. The best second shot will be selected and all players will play a third shot from that position. This process continues until the ball is holed out. Once a ball is holed out the score with that ball counts for the score for that hole. Each player must take a minimum of four drives. Eclectic A player submits a card with a gross score for each hole. In subsequent rounds where a player improves their gross score on an individual hole then the better score will count as their eclectic score for that hole. The Competitions Committee will stipulate the maximum number of cards a player can submit.

Appendix F Completing your scorecard Individual cards The competition name or reason for the card submission must be shown e.g.1st card for handicap, Supplementary Card Important Points to Remember Always ensure that the marker and player have signed the card, and entered the scores correctly. Divide this list into groups (or categories) equalling the number of tees required. e.g. if the number of tees required is 26 split the entrants into the first 26 lowest handicaps - category 1, the 26 next lowest handicaps - category 2, and so on to produce 4 categories. From Category 1 draw the places for each tee, and then draw from Category 2 for the second positions from the tee etc. and so on for each category. If possible when making the draw, try to separate family members playing together and to place only one lady member or junior in each four ball. Certain tee positions should be reserved for personnel on registration and marking cards e.g.1 st, 10 th, and 16th. These people usually maximum of 3 needs to get to and from the tee promptly. These personnel should be slotted into their appropriate category when making the draw. This continues until all players have been drawn. The positions to be used when more than 18 are required are as follows: 3 rd Fairway, 6 th Fairway, 7th Fairway, 9th Fairway, 10th Fairway, 11th Fairway, 14th Fairway, 15th Fairway, 18th Fairway.
