3 The Eric M. Suhl Foundation was created in memory of Eric Matthew Suhl, who passed away in February He was 28 years old and had struggled with ulcerative colitis since he was diagnosed in To help understand the issues and struggles of Crohn s & Colitis, ABC Channel 13 produced the special The Voices of IBD. It previously aired in December 2016 and 2017, and featured Eric s story, the Suhl family, and The Eric M. Suhl Foundation. Please visit our website to view the segment. The mission of The Eric M. Suhl Foundation is to enjoy the company of family and friends while positively impacting and supporting causes Eric loved and issues he faced in his life. The inaugural Eric M. Suhl Memorial Golf Tournament was held on May 15, It was a great success with 134 golfers. The day before, The Eric M. Suhl Foundation had nearly 200 walkers on Team Cool Suhlio who participated in the Take Steps for Crohn s & Colitis Walk. The two events raised $25,000 which was donated to The Crohn s & Colitis Foundation (CCF). The 2nd Annual Eric M. Suhl Memorial Golf Tournament was held on May 21, 2017 with 248 golfers. Again with the contributions from the participants on Team Cool Suhlio, we exceeded all expectations and were able to make a contribution of $50,000 to CCF. We could not have done it without all of the great sponsors and supporters. It is a true testament to Eric s friends and family. LOVE IS FOREVER The Eric M. 4 The 3rd Annual Eric M. Suhl Memorial Golf Tournament will be a four-man scramble held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Wildcat Golf Club. The tournament format is inspired by Eric and his love for those around him to have a good time. In his memory, this tournament features unique games and contests such as skipping the ball over water, drawing cards for a club and tossing bags to determine your tee box, all placed throughout the scenic holes at Wildcat Golf Club. These games allow everyone to remember Eric and the excitement he was sure to incite. The Eric M. Suhl Memorial Golf Tournament is a vastly different experience from all other charity golf tournaments. The unique format will be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels and was designed to maximize fun! 6 The Eric M. Suhl Memorial Golf Tournament features a raffle with great items. Tickets will be on sale through the website and will also be sold the day of the tournament. Tickets purchased prior to the tournament will be available for pickup at check-in the day of the tournament. Raffle tickets are $5 or $20 each. The $20 raffle tickets are for a few select items. Each item will have a bowl next to it allowing participants to place as many of their raffle tickets in as they choose. This gives participants discretion to pick which prizes they can potentially win. 14 ABOUT ERIC Eric was a Lanier Middle School Purple Pup, a Lamar High School Redskin, and a University of Texas Longhorn, where he was a proud standing member of Sigma Alpha Mu and the Silver Spurs. After graduating, he worked in Houston at Corsitech, in Minneapolis at Ecolab, and in Tampa for Mosaic, forging unique friendships at each stop along the way. Eric s full-faced smile, infectious personality and enormous heart drew over 250 people to his memorial. He will be dearly missed and remain in our hearts forever. 12 The Eric M.
