We set up temporary greens provide a full 18 holes our members cusmers. After stripping sod, we Ro-tilled, shaped, fumigated sodded putting surfaces. We installed a 5-foot wide paspalum collar help discourage Tifway 419 from encroaching in green. We edge paspalum/ bermuda interface with a stick edger regularly. It would take an average of six weeks get greens in shape open play. Then we would start next three holes. The greens on front nine vary in make up, we have some push-up greens that have been amended with s some we rebuilt in past USGA specs with mix. We fertilize monthly with a low N high K fertilizer apply a foliar paspalum mix with minors Primo. A preventive fungicide program works best as we find paspalum slow recover from problem areas. We are still tweaking that program. Since greens were all sodded, I think once we do some core aerifying this summer, it will continue get better. The paspalum certainly did hold its color this past winter we used black pdressing applied every two weeks heat retention. The back nine Tifdwarf greens also held up better this winter with black s. I am still learning about this grass by talking or paspalum superintendents tweaking our program. I feel it will only get better. If given choice, I probably would sprig instead of sod next time. 10 HANDS ON Bee Area between two holes requiring improvement. I was recently asked propose an improvement an area at our facility I thought I would give this a shot. I am no Phoshop expert, but I do have program underst basics. The area in question is an extension of a lake shoreline that rises well above mean high water mark. The only water it ever sees is run-off from surrounding hillside. The result is an ugly muddy area filled with rocks weeds. We have continually string-trim this location keep it from looking absolutely terrible. It is unknown why builder would have graded a shoreline like this. In any case, general manager wants it look better I utilized Mr. Sweet s technique create proposal. I must also credit Darren Davis of Olde Florida Golf Club providing some advice on what plant in area. I went with his recommendation of cordgrass young cypress trees since area does fluctuate in moisture. For actual changes image in Phoshop, I phographed desired species from same angle in same type of lighting (same time of day), so y would blend once I pasted m in. I decided use some dune sunflower as well, since we have it in or locations on golf course. I am relatively pleased with results. Our superintendent, tom Skotzke, submitted proposed design our GM, who loved design y will be moving ward with it. Actually, head pro thought it was a picture of completed project commented how fast we were doing work on course. We all had a good laugh at that one.
