It is a one-time registration per horse, and the KBIF offers the following application periods: Jan. 1 Aug. 15 of the cover year (in-utero): $60 Aug. 16 Dec. 31 of the cover year (in-utero): $150 Jan. 1 Dec. 31 of weanling year: $750 Jan. 1 Dec. 31 of yearling year: $1,500 The following races are eligible for awards: Up to $3,000 per race for winning an allowance or maiden special weight anywhere in the United States or Woodbine Up to $4,000 per race for winning a stakes race anywhere in the United States or Woodbine $5,000 for winning a Grade 2 or 3 anywhere in the United States or a Group 2 or 3 in Canada, England, France, or Ireland $7,500 for winning a Grade 1 anywhere in the United States or a Grade/Group 1 in Canada, England, France, or Ireland $7,500 for winning a Group 1 race on Dubai World Cup Day, Hong Kong International Day, or Japan Cup Day $50,000 for winning the Kentucky Oaks or Kentucky Derby. $200,000 allocated to the top 20 claiming horses in Kentucky with the most wins
