1 Please use the attached charts to determine score requirements and remediation levels. Do not rely solely on the student s printout. Students frequently change their majors or levels of certification after they take the test, and those scores may no longer fit the situation. Be sure to use the highest test score taken within the last five years. Rather, determine the major, the level (AAS, diploma, certificate), and determine if the score falls at or above the range on the program ready chart. If they do not, use the course placement chart to determine the level of learning support courses required. Students must be program ready in both Writing Skills and Reading Skills in order to take English, Humanities, Speech, Economics, or Psychology. Students must be program ready in Pre-Algebra and Algebra in order to take MATH Students must be program ready in Pre-Algebra and Algebra in order to take MATH Advanced math courses have prerequisites of either MATH 0099/1013 or MATH seeking students who have already completed an ENGL 1010 or ENG 101 course with a C or better should not be placed into a learning support English or reading class. Either course substitutes for the LS ENGL and/or READ. Be sure to check transfer courses. If a student has taken ENGL 1101 or ENGL 1010 at another college, they should not be placed into a GNTC LS course. A course will not appear as a COMPASS EXEMPTIONS SAT or ACT scores taken within the past 5 years may be accepted in lieu of the COMPASS scores for admission purposes. SAT - Diploma Requirements Critical Reading (24 if taken after 3/1/16) Math Skills (22 if taken after 3/1/16) SAT - Requirements Critical Reading (25 if taken after 3/1/16) Math (24 if taken after 3/1/16) ACT - Diploma Requirements 13 - Reading 12 - English 17 - Math ACT - Requirements 17 - Reading 16 - English 19 - Math GED for English or Math for both diploma and degree requirements Reviewed 2/27/2017
