2 Above, Headley (right) with mother Alice, and brother Mike, as they study racing records. As a young man, summers were spent working on the farm and assisting his mother Alice at horse sales. Nicosia, daughter of Nicoma wins the Sheridan Handicap in 1976, with Headley as groom, and mother Alice as trainer. Headley s son Price represents the sixth-generation to grow up with a love for Mill Ridge Farm. Headley with mother Alice, and now deceased Nicosia. 31 G1 winners since 2000 About HEADLEY BELL Managing Partner We are all given gifts from our predecessors, some of which we may assume were owed to us, and many of which we often take for granted. That would not be the case with Headley Bell. Those closest to him know him to be a man who counts his blessings daily, with gratitude, and a dose of humility. If you were to Google his life s work, you would find recurring themes of honesty, integrity, discipline, and a willingness to serve others and the industry he loves. Headley is a fifth-generation horseman whose family has been involved in the Thoroughbred business in Central Kentucky for over a century. His grandfather Hal Price Headley, was the first president and founder of Keeneland racetrack, and his mother, Alice Chandler, is respected worldwide as one of the most accomplished horsemen in the business. It was growing up and working on the farm and racetrack that he received his early education with Thoroughbreds. After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Bell founded Nicoma Bloodstock in 1979 to provide consultation and services to existing farm clientele at Mill Ridge. Since then, it has grown to be one of the leading full-service agencies in the November 2004 SIMMERING SUCCESS Used with permission from The Blood-Horse MarketWatch, 2004

Headley (far left), with Dr. John Chandler, Alice Chandler, and brothers Mike, and Reynolds, as Mrs. Chandler accepts the 2009 Eclipse Award of Merit. In 2010, the $4.2 million A.P. Indy colt became the most expensive yearling sold in North America since G1 winners since 2000 Thoroughbred industry. Bell is recognized for associating with many of the leading owners/ breeders and just since 2005, he has assisted with the mating of G1 winners that include, Breeders Cup winner ARTIE SCHILLER for Haras du Mezeray, 2006 Kentucky Derby winner BARBARO for Roy and Gretchen Jackson; 2007 Kentucky Derby winner STREET SENSE for Jim and Gus Tafel; 2008 Blue Grass winner MONBA for Alice Chandler and Tolie Otto; 2008 European Champion Filly RAINBOW VIEW for George Strawbridge, Jr., 2009 PASSION FOR GOLD Racing Post Trophy winner for Roy and Gretchen Jackson; 2011 American Horse of the Year HAVRE DE GRACE for Nancy Dillman; and 2011 Canadian Horse of the Year NEVER RETREAT (sold in utero). In 2008, Bell became managing partner of Mill Ridge Farm and has blended Nicoma Bloodstock into its business plan. His son Price joined the Nicoma team in 2010, bringing the sixthgeneration to the farm. Dear friends, Being a part of the Mill Ridge legacy is an amazing privilege. It is a blessing each day to participate in the beauty of the Thoroughbred. This industry is the fabric of who we are, the anticipation of new foals; watching them grow strong in the fields; and dreaming of the champions they may become it is the dream that drives us. We look forward to 2014 with much anticipation as we welcome home our beloved KEEP UP, who will stand stud at Mill Ridge this year. He is the epitome of the champion heart that causes us to continue our endeavors from day to day. We thank the clients, friends, and horses who have allowed us the opportunity to share, and make a contribution. If you dream of champion Thoroughbreds allow us to assist you in your journey. Warm Regards, Headley
4 KEEP UP Unbridled s NEW for 2014 Song Keeper Hill, by Deputy Minister Out of Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Keeper Hill, earner of over $1.6 million Inbred to Killaloe, the dam of (G1) sire Fappiano Won the River City H. (G3) defeating (G1) winner Boisterous and Optimizer Mill Ridge s first stallion It is remarkable Keep Up survived, much less became such a successful racehorse! A story never told is Keep Up had a 10% chance to ever race after he broke his knee as a yearling, requiring three screws to be inserted and seven months of stall rest. Eventually, he grew sound enough to train and made eighteen starts, winning seven including the River City Handicap (G3), defeating (G1) winner Boisterous and Optimizer. We invite breeders to come to Mill Ridge and inspect Keep Up, they will like what they see, Headley Bell Regally-bred with the heart and imposing good looks to match made 18 starts, winning 7, earning over $300,000.
