8 Chip reading with ActiveHorse The chip is attached to the halter or is braided into the mane. The chip identifies the horse in the feeding system and reads the relevant horse s feeding status. BoPil A/S 8

9 Feeding process 1. The horse proceeds to the chip-reading area 2. The horse is identified via the chip and gets the feed which it is programmed in the computer to get if the horse has any feed left for the day 3. Transition starts when time is up 4. The horse moves into the open and empty feeding station and the entrance door closes 5. Individual transition begins if the horse does not move 6. 16 Transition process If a horse is reluctant to leave the station, the transition process is automatically activated. The horse first hears a click sound followed by a soft motivation by the transition arm for the horse to leave the station. When the arm is back in place, the entrance doors will open. 27 References Önnestad Gymnasiet A large agricultural school outside of Kristianstad, Sweden with capacity for 25 horses. The plant is built in cooperation with Mikael Ventorp, who is one of Sweden s leading stable experts.
