2 Birkhof Stud is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Bavaria, also called the Tuscany of Bavaria. Not only its beautiful nature and the amazing landscape are worth a visit, but also the cosy villages nearby, such as Kallmünz, where famous artists like Kandinsky and Palmié lived and worked. You can find many old castles and monastarys in this area. You also can find Regensburg, a Unesco World Heritage City within a 20 minute drive. Although you have the feeling of being in the middle of nature Birkhof Stud is conveniently reachable from the airports Munich and Nuremberg. The Breeding program of Birkhof Stud was founded 25 years ago by The Dirnhofer family. Esther and Achim Dirnhofer are breeding around 15 foals per year. On their various travels around the world Esther and Achim were inspired by different breeders and horses. DF Malik Jamil, a son of NK Hafid Jamil out of Amouva had a huge impact on the Breeding program of Birkhof Stud until now. Amouva is a daughter of Maysoun, the famous Ansata Halim Shah son out of Maysouna. Her dam is Afara Bint Malik, a Malik daughter out of Ameera, the full sister to Jamil. On one of their journeys Esther and Achim found the beautiful Miad Al Shaqab, an Alidaar son out of the unforgettable Ansata Malaha, at Al Shaqab Stud in Doha, Qatar. Luckily they were able to add him to their program and he turned out to be the perfect addition to the breeding program of Birkhof Stud. Unfortunately Miad passed away this year because of a tragic accident. But he inherited exquisite sons and daughters for Achim and Esther and his impact to the program is present in many horses. He will always stay in the hearts of all people that knew him. The broodmares are based on a selected group of families and strains. Achim and Esther have the idea of keeping different mare lines concerning strains and families to keep the genetic pool as big as possible. They also think it is important not to loose certain families for the breed. The Stud was built to be an enjoyable place for horses as well as for people in a beautiful surrounding. The barn and the Breeding facilities are designed to create a relaxed and natural atmosphere. The Mares live in big pastures with outside barns and move into the breeding and foaling barns during the breeding season. The Stallions are located at the farms own Worldwide approved semen collecting station. Fresh and frozen Semen is being shipped all around the globe. The Dirnhofer Family invites all the breeders to visit the farm and taking time to stay together and enjoy the Straight Egyptian collection of Birkhof Stud.
