2 SHOWS AND EVENTS F rom 10 to 12 of March the team of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS) and the Crown Prince Office Fujairah under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown prince of Fujairah organized the first edition of the FUJAIRAH Arabian Horse Show. Being a new addition to the UAE show calendar and hosted at the same time as other international shows in the Middle East the Fujairah Arabian Horse Show attracted over 270 participants from UAE. The show is aiming to give further support to the breeders and owners in the Emirates who have dedicated their lives to this magnificent genuine Arabian horse. Entries were restricted as horses that were placed first or second in any show from first of January 2013 were not allowed to participate. After the UAE was hit by a major storm and lots of rain the day before the show, everything was perfect to start the event on Thursday afternoon in a very unique setting. Surrounded by the Fujairah Mountains and in front of the old Fujairah Fort the VIP tables filled quickly and a huge number of spectators enjoyed the show. During day time the fort changes colour between deep orange and light brown depending on the location of the sun and is standing out at night with changing light installations. The Fujairah Fort is perched high on a hill, it was once the centre of Fujairah, a sentry and a home, and has seen peaceful times and periods of strife. It has housed a prison and a room devoted to fermenting date syrup, and withstood attack by British naval forces and occupation by Wahabbists. Now the historic landmark has opened its gates to the public in a revival of the pivotal role it once played. Definitely a location that accentuates the beauty, history and elegance of the Arabian horse.
