Carlos was not only a superb client these past 15 years; he was a true friend, a great hunter and a fatherly figure to our entire JVS family.

2 Here it is! A very warm welcome to our well overdue 3 rd Bush breaking Newsletter of We had a complete revamp of our website (please take a look). The change over of internet servers has held us up a little from getting the posting up and running on the website, but all is good to go now so please let us know what you think? Never fear when the A team is near ~ our new server will get our newsletters off to you in a timely manner from now on guaranteed!! PLUS, all our newsletters will be posted as a link, on our brand new WJVS website. Simply click on the newsletter link at the top of every page and scroll down until you find all the newsletters just waiting for you to read and to enjoy!! We unfortunately start our June newsletter off on a very sad note ~ The barbaric murder of Carlos Valdes Snr at his home in Mexico, has plunged the whole WJVS team into absolute shock and mourning! Carlos was not only a superb client these past 15 years; he was a true friend, a great hunter and a fatherly figure to our entire JVS family. Our hearts and prayers must go out to Carlos Jnr who also lost his Mom (Adriana) not so long ago to terminal cancer ~ we cannot imagine the pain and suffering that the whole Valdes family has to deal with right now! We trust that the perpetrator/s of such an insane act on an innocent man will be brought to justice so the bastard/s can rot in hell!! On behalf of all the Wintershoek Johnny Vivier Safaris staff and from everyone who met Carlos Snr at the Safari Club conventions and throughout Southern Africa ~ We ALL send our deepest condolences & sympathies out to Carlos Jnr, Auoroa and to the entire Valdes family ~ Words cannot express, how very sorry we are at the loss of such a fine Gentleman ~ Humbane Kahgle Numzaan Carlos ~ you will be missed by your African family and know that a part of you will remain with us in Africa. Once again we want to thank our Spanish Agent, Tomas De Castro, for bringing 3 family groups to experience what WJVS has to offer our clients in all 4 areas.

3 Once again we want to thank our Spanish Agent, Tomas De Castro, for bringing 3 family groups to experience what WJVS has to offer our clients in all 4 areas. John Yau and his wife Mabel and son John Jr, arrived a few days earlier than the rest of the party so that they could visit Thuru and Gamagara lodges ~ mode of transport between the areas was in a helicopter which was really a lot of fun seeing all the game from the air! John, Mabel & Wiaan about to board the chopper at Thuru Lodge They then met up with Miguel Leon and his brother Jose Leon and their families in Lion country where both John & Miguel shot big Lionesses with our Lion expert PH Yvan Niewoudt and PH Phillip Coetzee. What a thrilling experience was had by both lion hunters. The group then moved onto Linksfontien where everyone had an enjoyable hunt and young John Leon Jnr shot his first animal ever, a Springbok! The final leg of their hunting trip was carried out at our Wag n Bietjie lodge. PH Jaco Niemann joined the party to put the cherry on top of a superb, fun filled, hunting safari. 5 It was indeed a great pleasure to welcome Outfitter and Professional hunters Albe Van Der Westhuizen and Wilhelm Marks with their clients Joe and Tina Strickling to our Wag n Bietjie lodge in Kimberley. Joe and Tina come from Midland in Texas and have hunted Tanzania before with Albe. This would be their 1 st trip to South Africa and our spectacular lodge would set the perfect place for Joe and Tina to celebrate their 20 th wedding anniversary ~ congratulations! and we wish you many more years of happiness together cheers!!! Out in the sticks Joe and Tina acquitted themselves very well and with some great guiding skills by the PHs and excellent shooting by both hunters, they managed to take some excellent quality species. We are proud of the fact that everyone was so impressed with our total set up, that we can only look forward to your return with anticipation ~ see you all in Midland in January. 6 With some superb marksmanship and a great team effort, Joe & Tina managed to take the grand slam of the 4 South African Springbok ~ Common, Black, White and Copper! Hartman s Mountain Zebra Joe and Tina also took both species of zebra, the Hartman s Mountain Zebra and the Burchells Zebra

7 The entire Wintershoek Johnny Vivier Safaris teams are delighted to welcome our 1 st time hunters from Norway to Thuru lodge. We want to send our gratitude and a special thanks to our new agent Tom Jensen of Safari Management Norway. From across the board, we want to thank you Tom for putting your confidence in our overall operations. We look forward to hosting you and your clients in our 4 unique camps and hunting areas and to guiding your clients to memorable and enjoyable safaris for many years to come ~ Here is to a long term relationship and we thank you once again for choosing our outfit to spear head your South African destinations ~ We appreciate your support very much and welcome to the family Tom! Pro Hunter Frikkie Nieuwoudt was up to guiding 2 jolly ambassadors from Norway namely, Lasse Barkenes and Kjell Arne Rivedal on a fun filled safari at Thuru. The camaraderie was fantastic throughout the hunt and both hunters shot extremely well to secure the quality trophies that they did ~ we look forward to your return Lasse and Kjell and it was indeed an honor to share our piece of Africa with such passionate hunters! Kjell with his amazing Gemsbuck wow! Lasse also took a great Gemsbuck.. Super job, well done!

8 Birds of a feather flock together ~ both Lasse and Kjell are going to be sporting brand new Ostrich skin boots next year!! Lasse bagged himself another excellent trophy look at the horns on this Black Wildebeest!! Kjell placed a great shot on this record size Blue Wildebeest Bull...great hunting!!!

9 Our dedicated team of Pro Hunters and staff at Thuru lodge did an excellent job in taking care of clients, Petter Lyngstadaas, Richard Jakobsen, Caspar Wohlfahrt and Bjorn Forbord all the way from Oslo in Norway. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and a grand time was had by all. The hunting was superb and some really nice trophies were taken on this safari. We want to thank, Petter, Richard, Caspar and Bjorn for the most welcomed compliments that they passed towards all the Ph s, staff and service at Thuru lodge, we appreciate that very much and we look forward to hosting you all again soon. If you have the most important ingredients in place then it is possible ~ the right Outfitter and area ~ experienced Pro Hunter ~ and most importantly, a hunter that can shoot!! Armed with a 7mm Blaser, Richard put his shooting skills to the test by taking this Blesbuck Ram at a ranged 468 meters!!! Plus, Richard took a Common Springbuck at a ranged 410 meters!! Incredible marksmanship to say the very least and most certainly a strong contender for the Shot of the Year.. Amazing! PH Braam Bekker was assigned to guiding both Caspar and Bjorn on 2 x 1 basis and the hunters had a blast! Caspar took this heavy horned Impala Ram with one shot! Caspar is all smiles with yet another one shot kill on this record book Black Springbok ram.. Good shooting Caspar!
