2 RHINOLAND SAFARIS Rhinoland Safari is a hunter s paradise where the luxury of the lodges, the crystal clear skies and the peaceful silence utterly relaxes you. Vast plains, teeming with the most superb African game, will thrill you. From the massive bulk of the white rhinoceros to the delicate little duiker, the choice of trophy will be all yours. Rhinoland Safaris are based in the Limpopo Province of South Africa on two pristine and privately owned nature reserves, which are located 200 miles northwest and 290 miles northeast of Johannesburg. Rhinoland Safari Lodge is located on our privately owned nature reserve in the typical African bushveld in the Limpopo province. It varies from flat open country to very dense bush. Creeks and gullies open onto marsh areas. The diversity of the terrain supports a large variety of birds and mammals. Animals like elephant, white rhino, nyala, mountain zebra, hippo and the rare black rhino are just some of the wildlife you can experience. You will be accommodated in a luxurious game lodge with comfortable air-conditioned chalets with en-suite bathroom surrounding the pool area. There is an open-air bar, lounge and dining area under thatch for your leisure. Excellent cuisine, with personal supervision by a qualified chef and friendly African staff, awaits you. Hunting begins either on foot or by vehicle. However, when fresh tracks or animals are spotted, stalking on foot presents an exciting challenge. Rifle, shotgun, pistol or bow may be used. Photo Safaris are welcome. When an animal is shot it is immediately transported to the camp to be skinned and treated in preparation for the trophy. For avid trophy hunters there is a void in certain African animal species. Rhinoland has filled that gap by making available the much sought after trophies of White Rhino, Blesbok, Waterbuck, Zebra, Nyala, Kudu, Gemsbok, Warthog, Sable Antelope, Impala, Eland and many others. Rhinoland conducts safaris throughout the year depending on your particular requirements. Over 30 species of game are available including those that are only obtainable in South Africa. Professionalism and strict maintenance of accommodation, equipment and vehicles are of paramount importance to us. 23 ON SAFARI HUNTING SEASON CLIMATE We operate all year round depending on what and where you want to hunt. Generally the climate is pleasant, September, October and November being the hotter months of the year, while the months of June, July and August have cool nights and pleasant days. ORGANISING YOUR SAFARI The complete success and enjoyment of your safari is our prime concern. Through dedication, experience, we will organize your safari to meet all your personal requirements. Your safari can be customized to fit your needs and trophies you wish to take. PROFESSIONAL HUNTERS Our Professional Hunters are registered according to South African law and are members of the Professional Hunters Association of South Africa. They are highly experienced with an intimate knowledge of the bush and the game. With their competence and dedication you can be assured of a highly professional service to find the best trophies possible for you. HUNTING METHODS A hunting day is normally split in two sessions, early morning and afternoon. Hunting starts by vehicle but as soon as tracks are discovered or trophy animals are spotted, they are approached on foot, which represents an exciting challenge. Any animal shot is immediately transported to the camp to be skinned and treated in order to prepare the trophy. HEALTH Tropical diseases like malaria and yellow fever can occur in our hunting areas. Check with your outfitter on the area and with your personal physician on the necessary preventive medication. We carry a full medical emergency kit at all times. In both concession areas we are less than 30 minutes away from modern medical facilities. Remember to bring your own personal medication. HUNTING WEAPONS/IMPORT PERMITS Do discuss your rifle calibres with your outfitter according to the animals you will take. Remember that shot placement by far outweighs ballistics. In South Africa a temporary import permit is needed for guns and ammunitions. Your outfitter will provide you with the necessary information. Make sure that you bring sufficient ammunition with you as some calibres are not readily available locally. TROPHY FEE Trophy fees are only payable for animals that are actually hunted. Wounded animals are to be paid in full. All animals listed on our trophy list can be hunted on a 5, 7, 10 and 14 day safari as marked. No VAT. (Value added tax) payable on trophy fees. GUN RENTAL Although it is always preferable to bring you own weapons on safari, we do have guns and shotguns available for rent at a nominal cost. Ammunition is charged for separately. PASSPORTS AND VISAS Current visa requirements can be obtained from your local travel agent.

If you miss your bow case, it may be at the police clearance office, mistaken for a gun case, ask an official on the floor to take you there to check.

Your Rhinoland representative (carrying a Rhinoland banner with your name on ) will meet you at the exit of your terminal and escort you there.

24 YOUR AFRICAN ADVENTURE ARRIVAL AT OR THAMBO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (JOHANNESBURG) Generally flights arrive between 05h50 8h30 in the morning or 15h00-17h30 afternoon. On arrival, go through Passport control and proceed to Baggage Claim. Note: Bow and Golf cases are normally delivered by hand to a collecting area next to the lost luggage area. If you miss your bow case, it may be at the police clearance office, mistaken for a gun case, ask an official on the floor to take you there to check. All Rifle cases are taken directly to the police office where you must fill out import application forms to get your import permit. The police office is situated next to arrival terminal 1. Your Rhinoland representative (carrying a Rhinoland banner with your name on ) will meet you at the exit of your terminal and escort you there. The application process might take some time - you are in Africa, so please be patient. If the Rhinoland representative is not on time due to an early flight arrival, traffic delay etc. - Please just wait around the arrival exit area. TRIP TO CAMP After meeting your Rhinoland representative you will be given time to go to the rest rooms and freshen up before your trip in an air-conditioned minibus to Rhinoland. There will be a half-way stop for a meal. ARRIVAL AT RHINOLAND At Rhinoland you will be welcomed by our staff, have some refreshments and then be shown to your room where you can unpack and settle in. If we have enough time left in the afternoon we can sight your bows and rifles to be ready for the next day s hunt. If after this we still have time we can go for a scout trip to introduce you to our bush and animals. YOUR HUNT Rifle hunters: You will be waken by our staff with either tea or coffee one hour before departure. A cereal or continental breakfast will be available in the dining room before we leave for the morning hunt. After the hunt we will come back to camp for brunch around ten or eleven. You can have a siesta and coffee will be served at around three to, shortly before leaving for the afternoon part of the hunt. After dark we will be back in camp where you can have some cocktails and freshen up for supper. After supper we will relax around the camp fire and discuss the day s hunt. Bow hunters: You will be waken by our staff with either tea or coffee one hour before departure. You will then have a full breakfast as you will not be back in time for lunch. A lunch box will be packed for you every day. After dark we will be back in camp where you can have some cocktails and freshen up for supper. After supper we will relax around the camp fire and discuss the day s hunt. These are only a guidelines as each Professional Hunter and his Client will decide on their own way of hunting. As it is your safari you are entitled to tell us what you like and what not. (Within reasonable limits) DEPARTURE FROM RHINOLAND Flights from Johannesburg s OR THAMBO Int. Airport departs in the evening. On the day of your departure you will have breakfast around seven in the morning. After settling your bill we will depart for Pretoria, our capital where you will be taken for some gift shopping and also to see our exporting taxidermy. Lunch will be in one of South Africa s top traditional restaurants. After lunch there will be time for some last minute shopping. Arriving at the airport at around four the afternoon, you will be taken to your check-in point and assisted by one of our staff members. After your arms are checked in you will have time to reclaim VAT (tax) on goods you bought in South Africa. Make sure you keep all receipts as you need it as proof of purchase. And then - Bon Voyage
