2 1. A preferential ballot is run for those wishing to hunt in the balloted periods. To qualify for this you must attend four club events in the period between Annual General Meetings (June to May). 2. Club Events are defined as activities organized by the club for its members. Monthly and AGM meetings qualify as do activities like the Swazi Shoot and the 4WD trip. It is the responsibility of members to sure their attendance is recorded. Ballot nights do not qualify as a club event as they are for the balloting of the blocks. 3. Those who do not attend four events may still come to ballot night and put their form in. They may still get a chance at drawing a block, it will just be in the General Ballot. 4. Only Full Financial GORE & DISTRICTS BRANCH NZDA members are eligible to put in an application for a hunting block (March, April, May). Full Financial is a Senior or Junior member, not a Family or Affiliate member. You have to be a Member of the GORE & DISTRICTS BRANCH NZDA to hunt under a permitted block. 5. The maximum number of Rifles/Hunters per block is FOUR (4). 6. Field rules and ethics of NZDA apply to Glenaray and NO animals are to be removed from Glenaray in a saleable condition. 7. Subs for the branch are controlled by the NZDA Head Office and they will generate the Annual Invoice. All Subs must be paid in full by 28 th January, or blocks will be reallocated by the Controller to a financial member. 8. The Maximum number of days permits are issued for is three. Monday to Wednesday and Friday to Sunday. There is no hunting on Thursday at all as this allows for safe travel from blocks. No rifles to be taken out on blocks and bolts/magazines removed. Hunting is on your permit days only. 9. Party leaders must ensure all party members names are notified to controller, firearms license number(s), and vehicle registration number are on permit. 10. Party leaders are responsible for ensuring ALL members of their party adhere to the rules stated in the Conditions for hunting on Glenaray Station. 11. The Hunting Permit must be correctly displayed in Vehicle Windscreen. If several vehicles are using the same permit, they too must have portion of permit displaying which vehicle/block they are with. (or ask controller for a duplicate permit.) 12. Vehicles without the correct permit may be towed by the Station or Police for trespassing. 13. Vehicles must not be parked near Gateways or in places where they restrict livestock or vehicle access. Vehicles incorrectly parked may be towed by the Station. 14. After the March, April & May ballots are drawn the remaining blocks are available by contacting the Controller by phone, 8am till 9pm. Glenaray Station hunting closes end of May. 15. All rubbish from Huts or Camps must be removed from Glenaray Station. No stashes of food or gear are to be left and no rubbish holes are to be dug. 16. All vehicles used on Glenaray must have an efficient muffler system. Drivers must ensure they have enough safety/recovery equipment (chains, shovel, winch, ropes etc) to extract themselves from most situations. Use caution on all tracks & trails.
3 17. Dogs are permitted on Glenaray after permission has been gained from the Controller. Dog owners must have a current Dosing Certificate with you. 4 Incident Investigation The Branch takes the privilege of hunting Glenaray Station very seriously. Any member of the club who cannot act in good faith to comply with the rules as set out in this document is not welcome to hunt on Glenaray Station as a member of the Gore and Districts Branch NZDA. Any incident brought to the attention of the executive committee for breaching the rules will be investigated at an executive meeting. Members reportedly involved in an incident may be required to attend an executive meeting to provide information. The Executive Committee may seek information from other parties. The Gore and Districts Branch s Just Culture Model will be used as a guiding document on disciplinary matters. Courses of action against member who have broken the rules are likely to be: Stand down from hunting Glenaray Station for a stated period Permanent removal of all Glenaray Station hunting privileges Revocation of branch membership
